Matt Bellamy Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I barely started Point Lookout and I think it is a lot of fun.Lots of fan speculation going on, but there are 250 achievement points that Bethesda has left for the Microsoft achievements. This is the same amount of achievements that the expansion Elder Scrolls IV: Knights of the Nine expansion! This means we'll could very well get a Commonwealth expansion for Fallout 3! Truly awesome if it is true! (There have been plenty of hints to the place in the regular game, plus The Pitt, Broken Steel, and now Point Lookout! http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Commonwealth I love the fact that this one actually seems to have a normal map, with locations to travel to, at your own leisure. The last 2 ( not including Broken Steel since it used the main map) felt far too linear, and really didn't capture the Fallout experience ( especially Operation Anchorage ) I wasn't big on Fall Out 3.But I love the Elder Scrolls!!! I love Oblivion, the vampire pirk is awsome, too bad they didn't have Werewolves!! OH Lord Hircine!! Lord of the hounds!! WHY!!!??!?But anyway,I've been playing The Last Remnant lately, its awsome. It got horrible reviews, but I dont listen to the critics much, but I still think its worth my time.I think after I'm done with that I'll either play Infinite Undiscovery of Ninety Nine Nights,or maybe I'll just do Lost Odyssey. But going back to The Last Remnant,I love the strategy system and the story is good.It reminds me of Final Fantasy.I know they'll be making the new Final Fantasy 7 right after Final Fantasy 13 is in the finish. Actually from what I've heard,7 will only be available for playstation 3.They hinted that when Crisis Core hit the psp,so I'm planning on buying a ps3....I guess. I always found Fallout 3 to be a very "dumbed down" version of Oblivion for the First Person Shooter crowd. Which suits me just fine. But lets not get off topic here, this is a Fallout 3 thread.
guyverfanatic Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 I never played Oblivion, but I enjoyed the newest DLC very much. I am pretty damn sure that the Commonwealth will be the DLC/expansion or whatever because the ghoul Desmond mentioned he was going up north (referring to the commonwealth). I still need to explore all the areas too.
*Jess♥ Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 i'd like oblivion if they fixed the graphics. with broken steel, it may be that they used the original map, but they still had teh airbase. that was like the pitt or operation anchorage. the "separate area" part of it at least. but yeah, i left the airbase just recently because i needed to offload some stuff. so it's pretty free. i guess point outlook is like this. i look forward to it. but my local game store doesn't have points in any quantity less that 2100 and i don't want to spend that much money just to use less than half of it. if i can figure out how to use my solo debit card, i could get the points online perhaps.
guyverfanatic Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 (edited) I like how Jaime's Personal Journal ties in with the side quest The Dark Heart of Blackhall side quest in Point Lookout. I thought that was pretty cool. Edited June 27, 2009 by guyverfanatic
*Jess♥ Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Yeah, but the graphics on Oblivion aren't horribly bad.Not all that much different from fall out. Bad graphics didn't stop hordes of fans from playing Final Fantasy 7.So,I dont see what the deal with the graphics are.Oblivion is still a great game, and it was hit.Ryuki, you must be one of those players who are picky about graphics and dont care about story line. quite the contrary. I value atmosphere in a game. this is contributed to by good backstory, good music and good art direction. up to the stage i played it, the backstory seemed to be delivered through multiple volumes of books 20 pages long telling information that didn't see to be relevant. the art direction in the game is a bit bland. so the only reason i wanted to play it was because of the environment. it was such a huge world, I had heard, like fallout but with nice greenery and such. when i walked out of teh castel and looked the other side of teh lake, I just saw all these black sploodges. ugly as hell. anyway, I got to the bits with oblivion gates and whatnot now and am finding it to be incresing in quality. I still think they could have done much better with the distance graphics. it's really quite abysmal. even without teh black splodges it would look better. i think they were trying to 'suggest' a bumpy surface in the distance but it certainly does not work. I like the similarity to fallout 3. fallout 3 seems to have a dingy atmosphere, but it looks great. i love the art and the backstory. I'm not a fan of the old style music but what the hell it's not too bad. I'd like to see a continuation of fallout 3 where the project purity has given rise to wonderful trees and the people have started to build up a bit more civilisation. not a lot, but a little bit, maybe 50 years in the future of fallout 3 or something.

guyverfanatic Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 on monday? wow! I think i actually have points for it as wel I haven't done point outlook yet so it'd be good to have them both at once. Mothership Zeta was actually supposed to be out July 28th, but for whatever reason, it was pushed back to August 3rd.
guyverfanatic Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Thoughts on Mothership Zeta anyone? It was pretty linear like Operation: Anchorage, but I thought it was fun.
*Jess♥ Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 i haven't started it up yet. I have been playing halflife 2 non-stop. but i have it downloaded from live marketplace ready to play.
guyverfanatic Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Well Fallout 3 has 200 more achievement points left out a total of 1750 achievement points. So supposedly this leaves room for the last 2 rumored DLC: The Deep Blue The Deep Blue is rumored to be the sixth downloadable content pack, and takes place underwater when the main character receives a radio transmission from Rivet City, informing the player of a submarine rescue mission. It is set to be released in December. At World's End At World's End is rumored to be the seventh and final downloadable content pack, in which the player uses a time machine to transport back in time just before the Atomic Bomb is dropped. It is set to be released late January to early February." Source: Rumor: 2 More DLCs To Come One can only hope these rumors are true.
*Jess♥ Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 2 more?? this is crazy!! I thought the first 3 was all there would be. then when point outlook and mothership zeta came along, I thought wow, that's the last two then... these developers are very awesome!

Guest evilmadguyver1230 Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Im level 3 and i already killed a giant supermutant!
*Jess♥ Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 wow, that's pretty cool! which one was it? the one by the doll?
Matt Bellamy Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I was pretty disappointed with Mothership Zeta... But at the very least it's the only downloadable content that has a weapon I WANT to use. The Alien Disintegrator is one hell of a gun. And boy did you get a lot of ammo for it up there... AND spares for repairs. No to mention the clip size of 100 shot before reload, but fires with the speed and accuracy of the Plasma Rifle... But with uber power... And the fastest reload time of ALL Fallout 3 weapons. A little overkill yes, but wicked awesome with all the right perks. Point Lookout was better... But I wish it felt more like a side story, than just a bunch of smaller quests that kind of become tangled together. The double barrel shotgun is really useless if you have the Terrible, and the Lever-Action Rifle is cool, but I have plenty of .44 ammo for the Lincoln's Repeater. But shooting the mutated hillbillies was fun. Overall though, both were still more satisfying than Operation Anchorage... Mothership Zeta felt as big as The Pitt, and Point Lookout didn't "feel" as big as Broken Steel... But that's probably because I hadn't found everything in the Capital Wasteland at that point.
guyverfanatic Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Howard: Five Was Enough For Fallout 3 DLC So we won't see any more DLC now... but there's always Fallout: New Vegas!
