largo Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Well everyone the fates have decided and it is now offical I'm getting married. I know that I should be happy and excided but some how I get the feeling that this will turn in to some sort of freak show. I'm not talking about marrage I'm talking about the wedding. Normally my girlfriend is against the hole girly-girl thing but for some reason I fear I fear greatly that this thing will go way over board. The only thing that gives me comfort in this whole thing is that this will most likely be the last time I have to see her family for some time. Well at least I hope so. Quote
*zeo Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Congratulations! It may interest you to know that it was the accepted practice in Babylon, 4,000 years ago, that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month, which we know today as the honeymoon. But what may interest your fiancee more is this: Q. What do bulletproof vests, fire escapes, windshield wipers, and laser printers all have in common? A. All were invented by women! But you could always go dreamy eyed and reply... Many years ago in Scotland, a new game was invented. It was ruled "Gentlemen Only...Ladies Forbidden"...and thus the word GOLF entered into the English language. In which case you probably won't have to worry about the wedding Quote
largo Posted March 16, 2007 Author Posted March 16, 2007 Zeo1234 thanks for the vote of confedence and the triva. Quote
Juggernought Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Congrats...Trust me, if the boss lady wants a big wedding or want it all extravagant, best believe she'll get it. We men have little to no say in the matter, basically we are only there to tag along and say yes dear, i love it dear, i think thats a gud idea. I've seen it happen time and time again. Ur perfect little angel is really a Bridezilla underneath...Ha, take a look at that show, you'll know exactly what i'm talking about. Quote
largo Posted March 16, 2007 Author Posted March 16, 2007 I know and thats why I'm scared well you what. Quote
TheGuyversWill Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Congratz man! I'm about to take the big plunge on the 21st of April. It's only going to be a semi big wedding. Around 75 guest and what have you. Luckily we're doing it out doors and avoiding the whole church thing! Quote
largo Posted March 22, 2007 Author Posted March 22, 2007 Will your lucky I've seen the list of people she's planning on inviting and well I have no idea how we're going to pay for all this. Maybe we should have those attending give us money before they are allowed in to the reception that's how the japs do it. *Edit* Oh and congrats Quote
TheGuyversWill Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 She doesn't really have an extended family or friends. The 75 is mainly my cast of misfits and family. We're looking at about 2-3 grand to pull the entire thing off. So far we've put about 1700 into it including the dress. Well I didn't count the rings but I'm frugal and know how to look for stuff online. I got her a .5 karat diamond ring in white gold for only 350. The wedding band was only another 60. My set was going to be platinum but I can't seem to find anything that I like under 500 so I think I just might go for white gold to save on the overall budget thing. Who knows. Food is only going to be around 600 with the cake and all the other goodies. I have a friend who works at a grocery store and we can get the drinks and booze rather cheap. Looking at around 65$ per case of champagne. But hey, you only get married once right? -hint of sarcasm- Well at least you only plan to get married once the first time around. Quote
Juggernought Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 That's why you gotta go all out man, worry about things later...That's one of the best days in your life so i'd enjoy it to the fullest Quote
