perhaps these take up space and contribute to some of the problems that can arise....

I'd agree with that, sometimes people who post and then disappear is that they can't get to a PC for prolonged periods of time and are unable to post, but people who have never even posted once and hardly ever show up seem to be more of a waste of resources in my humle opinion.

Yeah, the point of registering is so you can post your opinions and work. If they registered and never posted since joining, wether it be a year or longer, it goes to show that they probably won't ever post.
