Updated the messageboard and deleted a load of spam bots.

I'm moving from 1and1 as the hosting provider for WG.com. During this process there might be down time of a day. The message boards will be disabled once they are backed up ready for the move.

The messageboard is now running on the latest PHPBB and has being restored and updated. Next weekend I look to customising a little and getting back some of the old WG smiles etc to make it feel a bit more like home.

Ok... my "minor" update has turned into a complete "**** it, the site needs to be fixed properly" after discovering how bad the site looks in IE 10and Firefox... iPhone too . So for the last 2 days I've being coming up with a new template to both improve the browsing of the site and the look. it's a lot of work to Edit up though so links are not going to work great for the next week as I'll be working on this over the next few days. Though tonight the newly re-written Union Part 2 will be going up, along with Time Wars 1 to 3 which have had some minor spelling corrections and WG2's first part. Hopefully my internet access as home which came back last night will continue working! No internet = no fun! Anyway I've a week off coming up. The plan is to use some of that nice free time watching movies and updating the site. Hopefully James will be around and we can arrange some goodies too to go with the finishing off the new template and making it work fully throughout the WG-fic site. Shouldn't be hard to guess the targets, finish the Data Files section and Art work along with the other fic writers section too.

I'm working on the website at the mo... Just tested a new menu system at www.warriorguyver.com/index2.htm and it's working fine I'll be apply this to the site over the week and getting the newly rewrote union story Part 1 up as well hopefully. Nice to see a more cleaner code working! I also tested this on my iPhone and it works well.

The above is the plan for the WG-fic section of the site. As well as that I plan to do some tidy up to the structure of WG.com design itself. If you've any weblinks that are Guyver related please let me know for them to be updated. As well as WG.com the Guyver messageboard will be getting some work, no this isn't new work yet but more so on the code behind the board so that we get some any spam bot features. there is a new version of PHPBB released (HOPEFULLY!!! with more anti-spam bot etc). The messageboard will be updated over this weekend as part of the rollout of updates to WG.com

We all know that Sully is working his butt off with editing all ~500+ pages of the main wg.com fan fiction site. It would be safe to assume that most of those pages are datafile's and most of the editing would be updating various statistics and some display formatting and other such laborious tasks. Something that is distracting Sully for his main responsibility around here...saying "No Comment " at every instance and writing more fan fics. So in order to facilitate Sully in doing his main job, I propose that using a wiki-style database would be an apt way of helping out in managing datafiles and even the fan-fics themselves. Added Time War Part 2 to the WG fan-fiction, Brian's section. Note: As before this is the second part of the new Time War story arc. Part 3 will bridge the gap between this part and what used to be part 1. The old Part 1 is now part 4. Once the new Part 3 is done that will be rewrote next. Update didn't go as planned. The old trick of backing up the database and restoring it on the new one didn't do it either as it errored due to different SQL versions. At the moment I'm simply happy we can post at the meoment. Avatars seem to have gone AWOL for the moment. That though isn't a major thing, being able to post is more important. I'll look into avatars and missing Guyver smiles in the weekend coming. Thankfully I've a backup on a different computer at home so can get the old settins from it and apply it to this new board. `The messageboard even after it's being updated is under contant hits by spam bots looking to register on the board and post their silly adds to enlarge your body parts.... Basically I've spent more time deleting bots than posting this week so that's had to stop for the moment. I've disabled new user signup for the time being until a new PHPBB or Mod comes out that will handle the spam wave more efectively. Until then sorry to new people who want to join the board for doing this. If you email Matt or I we'll help you get a new account enabled. Note I only check email on Saturdays normally (it's my messageboard fix it day and other general stuff).

Over the next month I intend to have a new template in work to change the WG.com site. Simple question for the guys that visit the site the most. What is the resolution on your computer you like when viewing websites?

The first thing I'm doing this weekend is updating the WG.com part of the site. This is main page of the site and has you can guess is basically what people see before you get into the rest of the site. Soooo here's the first thing. 1. There will be no new content for the update on this coming Sunday. This update to WG.com is all about testing templates and seeing what works and works well. 2. I'm only interested in 3 web browswers working. IE 6 (there are still poor sods using it but I'll not be overly concerned about it looking well just that it works) IE 8 and Firefox 3.5. Has part of the WG.com redsign and updates to both it and the WG-Fic letting you guys have a heads up on some more changes. Guyver 2's Playground will no longer be on the front page but part of the Guyver Fan Archive. The Archive section of the site will be changed to have archives of old Guyver sites so Leigh's site will naturally go there as top site in the list. Along with Guyver 2's Playground there will be 3 verions of the Warrior Guyver Fan-Fiction site there. The 2 versions located in the old site section and the current one that's on site now. At somepoint over the coming week I'll be updating the forum to the latest version of PHPBB. Not much should change overall but new users will be once again able to sign up on the site. Sorry to those that have tried to register but are unable too. This will be fixed! Has for a new Guyver theame for the messageboard I've not had time to work on this yet. This is more for the old timers out there. The old version of the forum (bascially has it was around 2004) will be closed down for awhile. Some point over the weekend I'll be coverting it to a more modren version like this board and removing it alltogether. Reason for this is because it's being attacked by bots a load and it's a pain to admin. It's either update it or cut it off. And well cut it off isn't an option because it has a copy of my old guest book on it etc.

As writing and editing is taking it's time (more than I expected due to ummm... possibly rustyness of both James and myself and being fussier and older when it comes to the stories) I think it's time to look at updating other parts of the site and getting the look and feel of the site updated with more focus being given to Stars Guyver page over the next few Saturdays / Sunday mornings. I've made this into a new section for the board as at the mo, I tended to post these into General and they get lost. Anyway this section isn't for spamming James and myself for info on Data Files etc. This is so in the future you guys know whats planned in line of updates and whats going on with the site. Questions here should mainly be website related. Requests for info are best put in their respective sections of the messageboards. Though if it's a question on "Can you please let us know if your going to update X section of the site" this is valid. Also if you wanted to help out and work on a section of the site this is the place to ask and arrange for it to happen.

On Saturday coming - The 8th the messageboard will be disabled while it is backed up, deleted and then rebuilt on a MYSQL v % database. This is needed to keep the board up to date. Sorry for the Inconvenience, if you've any questions please ask them in the WarriorGuyver.com section of the board.
