  1. I don't know about the female Guyver II. Looks great tough. Always prefered the original model kits over the posable figures. Regarding your other pictures. To my knowledge, I believe Max Factory released some alternate parts (elbow/arm-blade and thigh) for Guyver 1 which made some other poses possible. They also made an alternative head for the larger, non pre-painted Guyver I kit. Also here's another obscure kit and a pic of a painted mini-Guyver I
  2. Everyone has similar stories. Makes sense. Afterall, the OVA was pretty impressive. I don't think I was even 5 when I first saw the first 4 episodes of the OVA. I was able to get my hands on Out of Control and the first two live action movies as well, but even as a kid, I couldn't really get into the first live action movie. Dark Hero left a big impression on me though especially since my parents tried to censor the gore. But anyway, I watched those and it wasn't until a few years later that I was able to view the rest of the series from blockbuster. I was lucky to cultivate my interest in the series since the Japantown near me was selling the original japanese comics and a local hobby shop was selling the model kits. Maybe I'll post that collection on here one day. I tried to give the 2005 series a go, but never really finished it.
  3. In the long run, the 2005 series was a huge disappointment financially, and a disappointment to a lot of fans of the original OAV's, which is where a lot of people remember the Guyver from. And unfortunately, for popularity sake, the 2005 TV series was a "Make it or break it" series. And it "broke it" as it were.Well said. As big a fan that I was from the original OAV, I was a teenager when I watched the 2005 series. As a wide-eyed adolescent, even I wasn't very impressed. The direction was indeed interesting to some extent, but the execution was off-- to the extent where I still actually haven't finished it. I wasn't too aware about the thought process surrounding it's production or the general reception it had when it aired. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
  4. I don't mean to resurrect this thread, but with regards to the OP, I was wondering if the parts for that model kit required paint. Does someone know if Max Factory at any point sold any pre-painted models of this? I recall in the data file book there being pictures of a fully-colored Guyver 1 with his smasher open, though I'm not sure if it was ever released that way. The one I have is pictured below. Any input would be great. Thanks!
  5. nice, is that a short, abreviated steve wang signature? Hey. Yeah was able to meet Steve Wang during my trip to LA. I'm wondering how one goes about getting a signed piece from Yoshiki Takaya. Probably a trip to Japan lol. I've seen some photos posted around the forum that have them. very impressive!
  6. Wow everyone has such great collections. Congrats! Interested to see guyverfan's collection one day. Here's a quick picture of the live action DVDs I have. When I dig up my old Max Factory kits, I'll be happy to share as well.

    Hey heyz

Just stopping by to say hello. I've lurked on this forum a few times here and there, and just now decided to sign up. Definitely want to thank the people who have kept the forum alive and well.. ie Yuki, I believe, as well as many others. I've enjoyed Guyver since I was a toddler, back when you could rent Guyver from blockbuster. I like to think that all the childhood violence has helped shape me into the good person I am today. My favorite part of the franchise was the first act of the OAV. Even without nostalgia goggles, the animation and audio was well done for its time. It knew what it was and as an isolated storyline, it was very entertaining. The second act.. not so much. The live-action films (even the first one in small doses) were cool. I never finished the 2005 reboot. I don't think it presented the Guyver entity as well as its predecessors. Anyway, I coudl elaborate, but this is a bit long for an introduction. Thanks!! and Greetings.
