  1. Interestingly enough, that's exactly what Microsoft announced at E3 last weekend. Their new console, the XBox One, will essentially run off of licenses rather than discs. The game disc is nothing more than a delivery mechanism, which means that unless you register a game you dont have it. They prety much said that they would allow publishers the option of allowing used game sales (or not) at their leisure. It's essentially steam, but minus the great sales and nigh universal selection. On the general front, the difference between used game sales and regular piracy is scale. If you buy a used game, that's one lost sale. If you put a game up on bittorrent, thats an untold amount of piracy. That's why the Napster case became so famous despite the fact that downloading was around before Napster. Ha, That Blizzard. They aren't shy to leverage their great reputation in order to fix prices on their games for life. Now if only they wouldnt pretend that Warcraft 1 and 2 didnt exist. Man, this thread is seriously putting me in the mood to go back and play some Warcraft 3.
  2. Some reviews of the mechs for whoever is curious. http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/2012/jushen_yong_ji_wang_giant_saver http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/2012/assault_saver Show aside, I honestly cant say that these mechs are much worse than what we get in regular Sentai these days.
  3. I think its like, the concept guys come up with some really great stuff and just go crazy but by the time the suit designers and the toy designers have their way, we end up with a neutered version of the original concept. I like what I see here, it reminds me of Kamen Rider Another Agito.
  4. Its a bit of a cycle really. Take music for example. In the old days you didn't pay for music. You either saw the radio broadcast (where they made money through advertising) or saw the band live (ticket sales). When technology progressed people gained the ability to make devices that played music for individual people. This meant that concert numbers went down but they started selling music for the devices. Further technological advances made it easier to copy music, driving album sales down. So now it seems the trend is that bands cant make money off of just album sales and they need to do shows. So in a way, its like we've gone back in time. Of course that just applies to music, I know you're talking about piracy in general. There is a delicate balance that happens between pirates and content creators. If the pirates overdo things then creators go bankrupt and things start drying up. Mind you, this is less of a "harmony" balance and more of a "ruthless jungle law" balance. Also, if you want warcraft 3 (awesome game btw) Blizzard still sells a digital copy. http://eu.blizzard.com/store/browse.xml?f=c:1,f:1
  5. Its interesting to see how they tried to make the suit more realistic in the first movie. But I really think I prefer this look more. The eyes are just iconic for Spiderman I think. Rhino and Electro haven't been in a live action movie yet so this should be interesting. I really liked how they did the Lizard in the last one. Wasnt Rhino featured in one of the tie-in Video Games?
  6. I have to wait till May 10th to see it. Whatever they do with the Mandarin, I hope to God it's nothing like what they did in the 2007 Animated Movie. But frankly durendal is giving me the impression that it is the same thing.
  7. I just want to give a shout out that the OOO SICs are gorgeous. I think OOO just absolutely WORKS in the SIC style. Seriously, I mean look at this. The animal motif really brings out the best in the SIC design. I love how TaJaDor's talon legs look very much like an actual bird, what with the pattern design on the hind side and all. TaJaDor's tosro even has tailfeathers! It's a really nice touch that really brings the best out of the OOO designs. Heres a link to a pictorial review of TaJaDor. Overall, I'm very excited for this line. Some other pics for the other forms
  8. I didn't think Thor needed a sequel. The first movie seemed to exist just to introduce him for the sake of the Avengers movie. Mind you, I'll probably watch this one anyway when it's out.
  9. It HAS been a long time . I seriously had to dig these up. I'm not as active on the internet as I was when I was younger. My old avatar My old signature (supposed to take place in volume 15 after Sho lost the Gigantic to Agito for the first time)
  10. Just wanted to say, Hi everyone! So I guess my old Account died? God, time sure flies doesnt it? I remember that when I was last 'active' by any sense of the word Murakami was just released by Max Factory. I used to go by 'DaMoe' back then. With a series like Guyver where the story is released very slowly its easy for interest to cool and for people to just move on to other things. I do wonder after all these years if Takuya even has an end in sight. As much as I love Guyver, it has taught me that there is a downside for a creator be so attached to his work. I personally dont think we will see another anime until there is any kind of 'end point' in the story. But you know what, Guyver was a big influence to me. The thing that sticks with me the most is the design sense that went in it. Few other series manage to pull off the kind of organic, sensible designs that make Guyver what it is. Hell, even some of those throw-away zoanoid designs that you only see for a page or two end up being really memorable. Its just not something you see anymore. All those data files and biology data that were made in the early years really gave Guyver an authentic feel which is missing from most modern works. Most series these days just go with "Bam, science!" in a way that feels more like handwaving than anything. So yeah, I was just thinking about that this morning and decided to take a look around here and see what was new. And you know something? Posting on forums like this onw is what taught me how to draft business e-mails, I am waaaay too self-conscious about what I post. PS. Still love these hand-drawn smileys They add flavour.
