Wheee!
That was fun.
Not too deep of an overall plot, but still very fun, and kick ass battle scenes.
If I had anything to really complain about the movie, was that it seemed like some of the background and scientific stuff would have been better explained, it would have definately only helped the movie. Maybe another 30 minutes of exposition that wasn't just a monologue at the beginning.
That being said, I never really felt "Lost" with what was going on, or felt like I wasn't sure what was happening.
It's a very straightforward film.
Which CAN be a negative comment... But considering some of the Mecha Anime Movies I`ve seen over the years, this was an asset, rather than a fault. It didn`t try to be Evangelion, and play with Religious themes. It didn`t try to be Gundam and go heavy on politics. It didn`t try to force unneeded comedy on people like Transformers. And it didn`t do anything "mind blowing", or do anything that would be considered `trippy`.
It was a simple Giant Robot vs Giant Monster movie, with a small bit of personal tradegedy for a couple of the main characters.
And you know what? That worked for me.
Slowly working on a sketch of Gipsy Danger... No idea when it will ever get finished!
...Maybe I gotta go watch the movie a couple more times for inspiration... Yeah... I should do that...
