On 29 April last year Amanda Kimbrough sat down in her cell inside the notoriously tough Tutwiler women’s prison in Wetumpka, Alabama, and began writing a letter in which she described her feelings of loss and remorse. It was a poignant moment, as six years earlier to the day her only son Timmy had been born prematurely and had died from complications at birth after only 19 minutes

That's horrendous.
I am so sick of authorities treating substance abuse problems as a crime. It is an illness.
also, the fact she lost her child and they would punish her for it is abhorrent.

Has she not suffered enough? This is absolutely disgusting.

It's time these people stopped seeing women as receptacles for babies. women are human beings exactly the same as men or children. If they cannot let would be mothers live their lives as they see fit then why don't they just ban conception altogether. If they want to police the process of creating new life, they should put funds into artificial wombs etc.
