H222G981 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 So. I've noticed....There was a nude scene of Mizuki sitting up after having had slept with Sho in the manga. I was wondering if this has in any way sexualized her character? For me, it has changed how I look at Mizuki's character. Although its quite common for comic book characters that are in love to have moments like that. It gave me the idea that she was one of those hero groupie types like Mary Jane and Peter Parker as far as fan's will look at these things. Where Spider- Man goes out and fights crime, comes home and screws his gf/ wife. It kind of gave me that idea in Guyver how Mizuki seems to portray that as the Japanese version of Mary Jane. Sho kills zoanoids by day, sleeps with Mizuki by night kind of thing. I could be over exaggerating this. But does anyone sort of see how I might have gotten this idea? Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 I think you are over thinking it... Though in comparing it to the 2005 anime, where she was a lot more clingy near the end, is probably part of that. I honestly thought that scene, while somewhat unexpected in how it was just "there"... Was actually kind of expected as well. You have to remember, Sho has always had a thing for her, and they have been in a tight group for the past few years, where in, Sho has saved her and her brother multiple times. I think after he reclaimed the Guyver to fight Aptom, to save her, that she was a lot closer and developed more solid feelings for him specifically. So I found it as an obvious progression. Sure, it wasn't handled well... It is a Monster/Action manga in the first place... But, I think that was just a simple nod to everyone who may have wondered if she was still not his girlfriend... Which she clearly is now. So, while they may never have a serious relationship talk, or even kiss in the manga... We pretty much know that they are a couple... And I think it isn't in her character to just be sleeping with Sho for no good reason. 1 Quote
The Crimson Guyver Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 I agree with Matt. It was kinda done abruptly. Some expected maybe a moment between the 2 of them shown, or even a kiss perhaps. But instead it just shows them waking up after obviously being together the night before. It just solidified the question I'm guessing plenty of readers were wondering since Sho's infatuation with Mizuki in the beginning of the story was very apparent.Alright sorry off-topic but! you've got Mary Jane completely wrong in the Spider-man comics. She is the complete, COMPLETE opposite of what you think she was. (Was since Quesada ruined what was one of the most organic and perfect comic relationships in Western Comics.)J Michael Straczynski run was amazing. Especially when Mary Jane left for LA wanting a break from Peter, thinking he didn't need her since he had all those powers, all those super hero friends. But it was the complete opposite. He goes to win her back and when in an airport, Doom showed up (for a meeting with other nations representatives.) And a group of extremists made their move and attacked the airport. 2 Quote
fossilrumbler96 Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 What chapter or volume was this scene in? I remember a different scene where Mizuki got her clothes ripped off by Aptom. Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 What chapter or volume was this scene in? I remember a different scene where Mizuki got her clothes ripped off by Aptom. You're thinking Volume 5, when Sho has lost the ability to call the Guyver. This scene was from volume 26. Quote
