Recently I've fallen in love with the Dark Souls franchise after getting the first game a year ago. The whole feeling to the world and game was perfect and the lore and how it had people coming up with their own stories and explanations was fantastic. Then Dark Souls 2 of course came along and intensified my love for the world of that universe.

If you haven't played Dark Souls I highly recommend it or even the first souls game that Dark Souls was a spiritual successor to; Demon Souls. The gameplay doesn't hold your hand and is very unforgiving which makes it so when you defeat a boss or just make it through a section where you have been failing to get by very rewarding in a sense of accomplishment which pushes you to continue on.

PvP is also extremely fun (except for hackers and bug abusers.) the community has created it own rules of battle such as bowing before each other before fighting and not healing yourself in a PvP situation which really helps push some epic moments in fighting.

Just wondering if you guys have gotten to play it and even have come up with your own ideas of certain story aspects while playing?

I've put in over 200 hours in 2 characters on Dark Souls 2, and over 100 on one character in Dark Souls.

I'm actually 3 magics away from completing 100% of the current X-Box achievements for Dark Souls 2( and I've just been lazy about getting around to it).

It's been ages since I played Dark Souls, but in Dark Souls 2 I have a Knight and a Sorcerer.

My Knight is a tank, and is great at taking hits, and giving pot shots whenever he can. Usually use a variety of swords and a shield.

My Sorcerer can use all Sorceries, Miracles and Hexes ( and of course Pyromancy, but that doesn't require stats) and is a DPS machine of destruction.

I found DS2 to be incredibly more easier if you focus'd on 2 of the 3 standard MMO job roles: Tank or DPS ( since healing is mostly only solo, you can't really be an effective group healer). Also helps there are more NPC's companions this time around, as well as easier friend pairing up. I ran through Normal mostly solo, then my friend and I literally plowed our way through NG+. He tanked, while I did DPS. Was sooo easy.

I really disliked when I'd summon or get summoned by people as my mage, who were in heavy armor with a big shield... And then they try and long range DPS... But my Sorcerer's stats being geared towards magic power, I'd pull all the aggro. Gotta know your role in combat.

Thankfully I carry a 100% physical damage resistant shield on him as well, just in case.

I appreciate and respect the series for what it is, but I am honestly too damned scared to even step foot back into that realm. I tried Dark Souls 1 when it became free on Xbox Live and got completely butchered on my first try. You know a game is not messing around when the very first level wants you dead and buried in an unmarked shallow grave. I am not one to shy away from a challenge, but getting wrecked that hard on my first try really didn't help the situation. I may give the series another shot, but not for a while. I honestly prefer to watch others play. I am constantly amazed on how easy some people make it look to take on some of those tough baddies! Dark Souls is a wonderful franchise and I look forward to seeing how the series evolves over the years.
