Guest Jupiter-Prime Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I recently finished watching the show Arrow. I was really impressed by how it turned out and how Oliver Queen went from a spoiled rich manipulative boy to a depressed, silent, vindictive vigilante. He lost his father, his girlfriend's sister after his father's Yaht, the Queen's Gambit sank. So he spent 5 years on an island learning military tactics and combat training from a military operation on the island. He also finds out his father was involved in a conspiracy to sack his home city in Canada. So when he comes home he decides to start changing things in the city and killing off a few criminals. He meets his ex-girlfriend, Laurel Lance , a lawyer who believes in protecting the innocent, who blames him for cheating on her with her sister and also blames Oliver for her death. So you see these two the entire series look at eachother with lingering feelings. Oliver seems regretful for wronging her and she isn't very happy with him at all for many good reasons. Its just wrong to sleep with the sister of the love of your life. So we can see why she hates him. But towards the end, after all we all know she becomes his wife, or some of us know.People look for the worse in Oliver Queen when he returns from the island. Even though he was tortured and beat almost to death. Shot at and almost killed multiple times. This would change anyone. But people are not convinced that he is different at all, since he use to cheat on his girl friend all of the time by bring sluts and whores into his bed all of the time. His sister Thyea is convinced he is very different considering they used to be very close. His change in personality and his character drives a wedge between him and his family for a while. However she notices something very off about him and how he's tight lipped about everything and where he goes at night. So to make a long story short. Oliver's mother and sister aren't very happy with his new found character and how he is so different after the 5 years he was stranded on an island.I find it amazing how he became Green Arrow and how he wants to liberate his home from all of the criminals and how he's changed to be a better person. He wants to right the wrong of his billionaire father who was part of the mafia and we meet some interesting characters along the way.I really liked his best friend, Tommy. I was sad to see him go at the end of season 1. I wonder how season 2 will pan out. I've heard it did as good as the first season so I look forward to seeing it. I'm curious about how things turn out in it. I don't expect this thread to be a be a success. In fact I don't expect it to get very far. But if you're into this show, than enjoy. Quote
durendal Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Arrow is actually highly acclaimed by critics. My friends are also enjoying the show and they mentioned that Barry Allen, AKA the Flash, already appeared. And it looks like the Flash will be staring in his own solo series soon. Even Deathstroke already made an appearance, though I find his character to be quite stiff. Slade should be an agile mercenary and should be able to evade being hit instead of him taking it. Where Marvel dominates the big screen, DC rules in the small screen. Quote
Guest Jupiter-Prime Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Yeah, I really enjoy Stephen Amell's performance as Oliver Queen and I really was impressed how Katie Cassidy took on her role so well. Seems the actors were well chosen for their parts in the show. Quote
*ScottmanXIII Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Anyone keeping up with season 2? I'm nearing the end and it's all kicking off! Quote
Guest Jupiter Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Anyone keeping up with season 2? I'm nearing the end and it's all kicking off! No, I haven't gotten to see any of season 2. I know nothing much is suppose to happen between Oliver and Laurel. Instead he goes back sleeping with her not so dead sister, the Canarie and we see more flash backs of him on the island. Thats all I know so far from some spoilers I've read...but whatever you know....by all means share. I love that show. Quote
*ScottmanXIII Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 The main focus this time round is his feud with Slade both past and present, Death stroke is one mean sucker. Quote
Guest Jupiter Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 The main focus this time round is his feud with Slade both past and present, Death stroke is one mean sucker. Yeah, I saw how Death Stroke was torturing Oliver in season 1. But it would have been cooler to the interrogation more hard core and give Oliver some more scars to show off. All we see is him getting cut a few times by Death Stroke before the chinese guy jumps in and saves him. That was pretty much it. But than again its just a tv show. Quote
*ScottmanXIII Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 The guy from season 1 wasn't Death stroke, it was his Partner, there's more history to be had from the island. Quote
Guest Jupiter Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Yeah, I know Laurel's sister isn't dead. I just don't understand why Oliver wanted to cheat on her by sleeping with her sister. Just seems a horrible thing to do to someone you love and care about. I don't really understand Oliver's way of thinking at times. Quote
odin Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 I'm up to date with the series, loved it ever since i saw episode one, proving that dc can do something other than batman, I only wish the dc movies where as good, but oh well, thanks to this series I will get to see another Flash tv series which has me very exited since he is my favorite dc hero. 1 Quote
