To those of you who have watched the anime, while I personally recommend reading the entire series, if you want to skip what happened in the anime, read until it goes into the flashback (the Manga goes further into the story than the Anime does before going into the flashback), then skip to volume 11. At this point, they've just taken Griffith from the tower after his year of torture. I recommend starting here because this is where the Anime began cutting out and condensing the story in the interest of ending the series. The anime's end actually took place in the middle of volume 13. The Manga currently has 31 volumes. As you can see, the Anime didn't cover that much of the series...

So, anyone want to make any bets on how many more chapters before they reach Elfhelm?

This is a very very long series. Miura himself admitted that the current arc we are reading is just the beginning. But I guess Miura is also riding along with the pirate trend. I think its still far away before they get to elfheim.

Well, Berserk is one of my favorite manga's no doubt. Unfortunately, it's not even half way finished...there are probably 10 more years to go before the series can even think about wrapping up.

I found out about this series after watching the anime...it was so incredibly gory I just had to continue it. The ending, the Creators left it at that heartbreaking scene on purpose. They knew there would be no Season 2 for the anime, so they tried to hook People to continue reading the manga....which I did :) It's too bad we have to wait so incredibly long for a single chapter to be released...at least OP, Nartuo, and Bleach come out every week

I would suggest reading the whole series of Manga from the beginning as they left out quite a few important details that aren't shown in the anime.

~left out the Black swordsman arc(vol 1-3)

~explains why Guts dun like to be touched.

~reason why the king hate Griffith so much after he slept with his daughter

~main reason why the Queen want to kill Griffith

~shows how badly Griffith was tortured

~Theres no Skull knight or Silat and no hint of the eclipse

~Guts fight with another apostle (Wyald) other than Zodd pre-ecilpse.

~tone down on most violence/sex scenes

awesome mmv!

Yeah I love this series but it's probably going to finish long after the Guyver does, oh well.....

A first I didn't like Berserk. The story was too simple for me, and I thought of Guts as a boring character. Boy, was I mistaken!

yep yep, it's got a very nice story, great action, great style ... but now it has completely lost its furious, Gatsu seems to be more reflective than he was before ... The story is turning out fantasy ... it has been dragged on by the author on purpose in my opinion ...

Berserk may very well be my favorite manga. Miura does a great job with character design and plot. Its the perfect balance of story, violence, and well-placed humor from Puck or Isidoro.

Well, there has been signs that may lead Guts becoming another skull knight or something similar. It would be interesting if Miura could explore more of the skull knights past and his relation to the witch. Speaking of the Skull Knight, we haven't seen him for a while now. Wonder what's he up to.

I though it was bit too violent, or, perhaps, gory, for my tastes but I was willing to forgo that fact to press on. I am generally more of a robot fan, but the action is outrageous and that sword he wields is kick ass.

Kudos to the guys in this thread for making me curious about berserk and making me read it. Ive currently caught up to the latest releases and Ive gotta say that this Manga is on the top of my list along with Guyver and claymore. totally awesome.

Well, they've switched back to Griffith's group, so I'm thinking that once they're done covering what Griffith's doing, Gutt's group will arrive at Elfheim. This probably means something in the area of three or four chapters. We probably won't see Gutt's group again this year.

Anyone interested in serious discussion of Berserk should go to Skullknight.net

It has been the most in depth forum for Berserk fans since 2000.

My names Okin on the board. Everyone should check it out, and even though we have very serious discussions and our administrator tends to make little children cry we still have lots of fun.

Ah yes, skullknight.net. I remeber the days when they are the sole information of the berserk manga. And then again, judging from the date of this thread and the number of replies, I doubt any serious discussion is going to take place. Unless I am proven wrong that is.

ok it seems that this thread is a bit dead, but i like berserk so here goes...

hmm... ok, anyone think that we will see grifiths fighting form (or abilities ) in the upcoming battle against the kushan? it seems that the kushan emporer Ganishka has acended to become too powerful for any normal apostle in griffiths army to take on, so i think a direct and serious fight involving griffith is coming up. any thoughts?

also, any thoughts on Guts' future? where hes headed? or any ideas about how the berserk armor 'spirit' may manifest and go nuts?

i think it may manifest in a fight aginst griffith and guts may bend it to his will in some sort of epiiiccc climatic battle or something :P

if i get nay replies its cool, ill then accept that this thread is dead :)

I don't think Griffith would have any "fighting form" since he was reborn as a human in Gut's unborn child. So technically, Griffith is a result of Guts X Caska X Griffith. *shudder* And his army is not only his weapons, remember he was also a member of Godhand.

As with Guts, there are hints that his future are somewhat similar to what has happened to Skullknight, and probably this time Guts has to struggle the same fight as the Skullknight only not making the mistake that he once did, if he ever did.

yeah, i hope there will be a little story arc (not too big that it kill sthe current story) that zaps back to the skullknights days that could reveal alot about the berserk universe. i think thatd be super shweet

but if that happens it would have to be very short (maybe not a story arc, my bad, more like a few chapters or one volume hehe) and it would have to be very relevant at the time, perhaps as you say, near when Guts is confronted with total destruction via the berserk amor.

There were already hints that the history of Geiseric is the origin of Skullknight, only his transition into becoming the Skullknight and his Rivalry with one of the Godhand has yet to be explained. We can also note the similarity of the relationships between Skullknight and the old Witch with Guts and the young Witch (sorry, their names are at the tip of my tongue).

I do wonder what would Griffith do next when he obtains his kingdom. As is seems with the current pace of the manga, that's not really far away. I'm also curio, us as to if Griffith still has the power of the Godhand since he was reborn. So far we have only seen unexplained miracles happening to Griffith. (like arrows not hitting him, etc.) Perhaps this is part and parcel of that power?

yeah i know about the hints to do with Geiseric, but yeah i still think it could be cool to fill in the gaps and maybe reveal a few things later on. perhaps he could tell Guts about his past and then it goes all flashback style or something lol.

anyway, i am also very curious to see what Grifith can do. i think Grifith is extremely powerful, and i think in his reborn form he has full Godhand power. I think the picture he is trying to paint of himself is one of grace and purity, thus he is weilding his power in an indirect manner, doing little miracle type things to make him appear so saintly. i mean this in comparison to if he just sent a beam destruction to kill every1 :P (plus that sort of thing is simply not what his dream entails.) and i think his tactic is working, he will have his kingdom soon and in it he will be hailed with reverance, rather than served through fear.

for a bit of a different topic, favourite apostle? or do you guys loathe them ;)

Sorry but its been stated that Godhand is as superior to Apostles as Apostles are superior to ordinary humans. Ganishka maybe the strongest Apostle ever (As Guts maybe the strongest human ever), but just as Guts can not physically harm Ganishka on his own (especially not with Ganishka's rebirth) an Apostle can not harm a Godhand member.

Griffith's near impossible luck has continued in Wyndham, so I expect everything to effortlessly play into the palm of his hand like it always has. He is also closer to reaching the throne of Wyndham than he has ever been, after which I don't know how well things will fair for him.

hmmm. cool, something to actually debate. yay.

ok, Guts can harm Ganishka. so what if it wasnt on his own, he still did it, all he had was a means of transport, it wasnt like zodd gave him some sort of magical property to suddenly be able to harm him now was it.

i question your theory Renegade, you say an apostle cannot possibly harm a Godhand. when is this stated as fact? if guts can harm a godhand (which he does, think Slan in Qliphoth, and yes, she was harmed. she was all like, oi wow this hot feeling havent had this in ages ie pain) and you say that Apostles are just as superior to humans as godhand are to apostles, whats to say that apostles cannot harm a Godhand????

Godhand> Apostle

Apostle > Human

Human hurts Godhand...... hmmmm... couldnt apostle hurt Godhand then???

ps i know that Slann wasnt like, actually majorly injured, but she felt pain, and therefore was harmed.

personally i DONT think that an apostle is very capable of harming a Godhand, but for arguments sake i wouldnt say that it is IMpossible, specially seeing as a human can...... :)

on a lighter note, how about Ganishkas new form! liek wow! huuuuggggeeeeeeee!!!

i think we may yet see Griffith personally take him out!!! see the size of that thing! i dont see how else it could be taken care of, and Griffith looks all serious! fingers crossed to see a Godhand in the real world (well, you know what i mean....) do some damage

Just thought I'd point out that Gutts was ONLY able to hurt Slan because he ran her through with a cursed weapon. The Skull Knight tells him as much. Had he used anything other than his sword, Slan wouldn't have been injured.
