anyway, as he was back by forever red, its not really a question for power rangers samurai, almost 10 years later, is it. maybe you could make a forever red thread to discuss ALL the inconsistencies in it, including how weak serpentera was against just cole's bike, and how in the hell did certain rangers get their powers back.

I even like the design of those new suits. i actually think it all works really well.

it's dorky and that is what made it good back then and what makes it good now.

what i have seen of it that is.

the whole point is that it doesn't take itself too seriously.

you can't make this type of thing cool. then only way you can make it cool is by acknowledging the embarrassing aspects of it. that's actually going along with japanese mentality.

being able to laugh at oneself.

okay now that the first episode has come out and ive let my feelings about it sink in a little bit, there are a few things to adress.

first of all........... WTF? im not saying that cause i thought the episode was bad (ill give my thoughts on that in a minute) but seriously........... what was that.... the first episode is not the first episode.... its a character development episode for Mike (i hope this isnt a spoiler). theres no explanation as to the backstory....... and it just starts sort of.......... was the idea behind it to just put us in the middle of the action and then give the backstory in later episodes?

secondly, the characters themselves.... not too bad but you can tell that a lot of them are amateurs... of course Paul Schrier was great to see again in the first episode but who's the kid with him..... i think somebody said its his nephew? but then on wikipedia it read that his name is Spike and he is Skull's son... so how can he be related to Bulk. The rangers except for Mike and Jayden didnt get many lines in this episode so... cant really comment on them.... theres a slight problem i have with Jayden however... he seems to be really self-righteous and goody goody..... this isnt a bad thing but when it comes down to it his character seems kind of shallow.... and need i say it.. perfect? the fight scenes were okay although there was a bit of sloppy editing involved. i like the villans though ill have to wait a few more episodes to determine that completely.

well those are my thoughts on it. anyone else care to share?

Two things. First, Spike clearly refers to Bulk as Uncle Bulk a few times so I think it's safe to assume he's his nephew. In fact I reckon he might be Skull's son as the likeness is uncanny. So maybe he is "Uncle" in name only. Second, this is episode 3. No-one knows why Saban and Nick decided to air the third episode as the premiere, but the evidence is clear. It is based practically scene for scene on episode 3 of Shinkenger, we have had promo's which show footage from earlier Shinkenger based episodes, and it didn't have a first episode vibe in the slightest. None of the characters, good or bad were introduced. That plus the next few eps are based directly on 4, 5 and 6 of Shinkenger. We reckon the first two eps will be shown next month as an hour long special, origin story if you will.

Often one's offspring refers to the parent's best friend as Uncle or Aunt though not related. We don't know if Skull had a sister that Bulk might have married. So it's safe to go with the fact that Spike sees Bulk as an uncle since Bulk is Skull's best friend.

I really enjoyed the episode. I hope they air the true first one soon. I want to know what that Okamuro monster's American name is.

I heard its because Saban wanted the show to start off with great ratings and started off with this episode instead (This one got more than 2 million views, so thats a good thing). It seems that they're plan worked, though I wonder how they're gonna show the episodes now considering they messed up the order. I liked the violence in this episode considering we saw the monster's arm get cut off, I don't really recall the megazord/monster battles doing stuff like that when Disney was in control of PR. I'll be ready to watch the next episode.

I noticed that too. Remember how the Dragon Megazord ran the Dragon Staff right through the monsters??? We even saw the holes in the monsters. The only time it was seen while Disney was in control was when Drill Driver was used on Operation Overdrive. Though they didn't use the Nesting Doll Copycat monster.

I really enjoyed this.

the music is awesome.

i do think though... the pacing is a little busy.

I'd like it if they slowed the pace just a little bit.

that guy you said was shallow.... the corresponding character in shinkenger was pretty much the same.

i think they did well with it.

this is perfect, the acting was a nice style just like the old power rangers and it's not trying to be too 'special' like those crappy disney ones.

trey, I didn't notice any black bars, but it's possible that black bars appeared on your screen because of the aspect ratio.

they've done this in 16:9 as HD needs to be.

I meant he is uploading the episodes as they are released. The one on pirate bay is the one I got, prob the same one. Check for dekabroken or burgundy ranger. Altho I think he has done a version 2 to include some sort of intro before the ep.
