guyverfanatic Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Lockpick and repair are the most important ones to level up first. 1) Lockpick - get into palces that are hard to get into. 2) Repair - able to keep weapons in good condition. Other important skills: Science - getting into computers to unlock doors etc Sneak - sneaking up on bad guys Oh, the Game of the Year edition of Fallout 3 comes out for PC/PS3/Xbox 360 in October and it will feature all 5 DLC's!
The Luna Diviner Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 ok, ill start to level those up first. also, do i have to do alot of side quests before continuing to the radio station? or are the enemies there and on the way managable. im at level 4 right now.
*Jess♥ Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 it depends heavily on your play style. when i started off, I would never choose sneak. i am too impatient to tiptoe around slowly. also, heavy weapons is not wise to start off with nor explosives. you don't pick up any heavy weapons for a long time, so that is completely useless to start with. i don't think you get many explosives either to start with. I wouldn't choose lockpicking because it helps to get items, and you get more than enough junk to sell anyway. at least, i would choose between lockpicking and electonics. most doors that are worth getting past are locked by a regular lock controlled by a computer. so with either skill you can get in. I would only get both if you are a hoarder. some players are, some aren't. I'm an explorer, not a hoarder, my mate who also plays this is a heavy hoarder. small guns are pretty damn useful. on my first playthrough, I used the chinese asssault rifle and the combat shotgun quite a bit. would get a critical shot on most bad guys and kill them in at least two shots. I tend to go for high firepower though. i don't concentrate on defence or stealth as a general rule, unless i can get a fool proof method. since playing it for a long while, I became a stealth assassin. I set off no traps, i make no noise. i'm like a shadow. but to start the game from hte beginning, you can't really do that. you need to learn the game first really. if you like games like halo but are not to quick on aiming (like me), make sure you can take a lot of punishment and make sure you can dish it out. i probably wouldn't head for arefu to start off with. that is a dangerous area really. but also, a tip, after you kill any enemy, wait for an hour. (or if it is getting late, wait til morning) any time you wait, it auto saves. so if you die, it's not a big deal. I've died plenty in this game. I don't mind. many other games, I would get pissed off if i die, but this game is different.
guyverfanatic Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Well, in my opinion lockpicking is more useful than science because there are more locks to pick than computers to break into.
*Jess♥ Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Well, in my opinion lockpicking is more useful than science because there are more locks to pick than computers to break into. yeah, I agree for the most part. after a long time playing though, i got tired of having to be careful with bobby pins since they are not readily available to buy. my second play through, i got lockpick up to medium difficulty and then stopped to concentrate on other skills.
The Luna Diviner Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 hmmm, ok, ill keep that in mind, thanks. i dont know what it was the first time, but im actualy really enjoying it. i was playing on hard, so i turned it down one notch, maybe thats making it more tolerable, because i dont die. i was in arefu most of the day, and did a good job until these fire ant things surrounded me and i couldnt get away from their hot breath, so i died. but other than that, im doing good.
The Luna Diviner Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 do you mean arefu , or grayditch? sorry got my places mixed up, im still a Fallout noob. anyway grayditch is where the fire ants totally pwnd my existance. in arefu i got attacked by a super mutant which i fragged, and this robot thing that was totally invincible, i shot every part of its body with every one of my weapons but to no avail. how do i kill those fire ants anyway, they pissed me off. and moira wants me to go to this minefield, should i do that yet, or wait? P.S sorry for all the questions, i cant stop if its annoying anyone.
*Jess♥ Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 no, it's fine. the ants can be killed the same as anything. it depends how powerful your attack is. but i heard somewhere that if you shoot the antenna, it makes them easier to kill. i never shot the antenna, i found it more efficient to get a critical headshot. i probably wouldn't head to minefield just yet. it might be worth your while heading for your dad for now. the area to the east is mostly good. if you head east and sorta veer to the north should be good. cantebury commons is that way. that's a good place i think. also, you could head towards tenpenny tower to the south. around that area, the enemies are quite forgiving. and there is some good mission to do around tenpenny tower.
The Luna Diviner Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 thank you. i was thinking about heading towards the main storyline again, going to the radio station tower thing. also i went to the minefield today, it wasnt too bad aside from the sniper who was totally owning me the whole time, but i got him. i need a place to get lots of ammo, or a good way to get caps. thats my biggest problem atm.
*Jess♥ Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 going into random places is good for getting caps. you can go back and forth selling junk. but as i went through the game i found i had so many caps and so much ammo... curently i have about 4,000 MFcell (ammo for the best energy weapons) and about 35,000 caps.
The Luna Diviner Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 *whistles* dang. ive got about 50 caps, and no mor than 20 rounds at max for a few of my weapons.
*Jess♥ Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 hell yeah, that looks awesome! i hope it is longer than the existing DLC. I'd be happy to pay more to have a longer quest.

*Jess♥ Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 oh no, powerful new weapons? I don't want powerful new weapons! the game is losing it's challenge. I think i might enjoy the game a lot more if i was no longer able to kill every enemy with one strike and without them even seeing me. i think i want to restart and concentrate on firepower rather than sneak ability.

Well this new DLC is not for players under level 17 do to how many bad guys there are...
*Jess♥ Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 oh wow! that is certainly good news. I think i will be able to get this.
guyverfanatic Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 oh wow! that is certainly good news. I think i will be able to get this. I have finals this week, so I probably won't be able to play till Friday.
guyverfanatic Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 Fallout 3: Point Lookout is out now! And apparently from what everyone says, this is the best DLC yet!
*Jess♥ Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 cool well i just got into playing fallout 3 today. I been on resi5 lately. so now i was just pretty much partway through broken steel. i had done teh beginning parts and now come into an airforce base. I wonder how long it is likely to last, because the last two seemed to be rather limited. i get the idea that this will be over too soon. I think i got through the last two in two playsessions each. which seems quite poor really. although broken steel has lasted longer due to hte actual additional content being 10 levels and across the wasteland. i have been going a few other buildings on the way and exploring a bit more and completing old missions.... so it's hard to say. but most of my stats are full. i feel like.. even though i gain a level i don't feel like it's improved anythingbecause my stats can't be added to. the ones that matter to me are all at 100.
guyverfanatic Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 (edited) Point Lookout is pretty big and there is plenty to do! Edited June 24, 2009 by guyverfanatic
*Jess♥ Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 the land is pretty big but it seems the game playtime would be more or less the same. but anyway, good fun exploring its always good to have more fallout 3 !
guyverfanatic Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) I barely started Point Lookout and I think it is a lot of fun. Lots of fan speculation going on, but there are 250 achievement points that Bethesda has left for the Microsoft achievements. This is the same amount of achievements that the expansion Elder Scrolls IV: Knights of the Nine expansion! This means we'll could very well get a Commonwealth expansion for Fallout 3! Truly awesome if it is true! (There have been plenty of hints to the place in the regular game, plus The Pitt, Broken Steel, and now Point Lookout! http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Commonwealth Edited June 25, 2009 by guyverfanatic
