I've been trying to mentally visualize how I want my fan-fic character Proteus (detailed in the Writers forum, complete with data file now) to look. Looking at the artwork that's featured, I'm seeing a LOT of blue, a fair amount of purple, red and lavender, and a decent amount of green (a bright green, at least). Mostly I'm looking at color scheme -- the actual body look is undecided for certain as well. I also admit that I'm not an artist, so don't expect me to whip out any Guyver pictures of my own (at least, not without being a cheater and tracing out other Guyver poses and stances to at least have a baseline to look at).

There's not much yellow, I noticed, but I haven't found a yellow I really like -- same with oranges and such (I've been trying to look off the beaten path of blue, red and green, though without much success initially). I was pondering viridian as the primary color (looks a darker sort of green according to the Shades of Green table on Wikipedia; though if anyone is familiar with Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, the viridian lightsaber crystals are more a silvery-green appearance when giving off light, and that was my mental visualization for the eyes and possibly the crystal ring embedded in the control medal if I stayed with the darker-green primary), though a secondary color wasn't immediately forthcoming.

So my question is, what colors are used the least that would possibly make a good unit and give a neat color scheme? I'm willing to entertain 2-color and 3-color schemes, so that isn't a problem. Just looking for ideas a little off the beaten path, more than anything else.

All up to your discretion i suppose...it could be your favorite 2 colors and then use a color scheme that would best suit your character and make it have an identity and presence.

Meaner darker personas usually stick with black, deep reds, purple, etc....neutral and good aligned characters usually are brighter colored although this is not the absolute formula for every case.

Maybe try a variety of color schemes and then choose the best that jumps out at you

True. I'm just looking for something more unique. I actually considered reversing the originally-planned color scheme: have a pale silver (like the Crayola crayon's silver) as the primary color, and the darker viridian-green as the secondary. I'm just not entirely sure. I love blue as a color, but I feel like if I had Proteus colored in such a way, he'd look like another Warrior Guyver, and I want to steer clear of that since there are several key differences in the Warrior Project and the Nemesis Project. A shade of grey might be another possibility. I'll just have to play around and see for certain.

Pity I don't have an easy means of testing colors. Stupid MS Paint and a present lack of non-colored Guyver pictures to try and color in that way to see if that's the color visualization I want.

I'm double-posting, I admit, but I did want to share: I found one of Matt's black-and-white Guyver pics that really looks sharp, and for the most part, I think i could see Proteus looking like that picture. He called it Stellar Guyver, and I was just really taken with the overall appearance.

Now, if I can only figure out what colors I want to make it...
