McAvoy Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 That's the point I am trying to make. His ability to slow time whether it is part of his psionic powers or something unrelated makes him superior to Alkanphel or Zeugma. But Alkanphel's brute power is superior to Solufein. I can't guess how he can slow time though. I am willing to take a guess that he can his powers to put himself in a time dilation psionic bubble similar to Dreadnought's quantum speed and time abilities. Quote
*zeo Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 It depends on what you consider psionic? Basically many would consider psionic to include the quantum. Like Star Trek Voyager Kess character, saw that on some level mind, space, time, reality itself all merged into one and someone who could be consciously aware of this could manipulate reality at will. In the Sci-fi mini-series "Taken", the hybrid little girl had the ability to manipulate reality to the point she created a temporary altered reality at one point that effected an entire area that seemed totally real to all those who it effected until everything returned to normal. Other scenes showed her stopping traffic as she ran across a street, slowing them to a crawl until she passed. In the movie STTNG Nemesis, Picard met a woman who showed him how to hold on to a single moment and make it last longer. Slowing their personal time to a crawl but still being conscious in normal time so the experience last longer. So sci-fi writers at least think manipulating reality and time can be done psionically. Telekinesis is just the ability to move objects with one's mind, but what would give the mind this ability? We know for example that consciousness may be a result of the brain acting like a quantum computer, giving it far more processing potential than just the sum total of brain cells could allow. But this also means we may potentially be able to interact and effect the quantum level of our reality. Though psionics have yet to be actually proved we do know that though we can't really alter a random result individually, over time the evidense does show we can lopside the overall pattern. What we can do in groups hasn't been properly tested but the potential is there that if everyone willed the same thing that we could on some level shape our reality. There is also the fact our perception of time is a mental one. Depending on our mind set time can seem to flow either faster or slower. The question then is this just a quirk of our minds or are we really experiencing a change in the flow of time? Something to think about in any case. Quote

It is theorized that it's a byproduct of the planet's regenerative environment since Picard was able to do it but was never shown again. In Nemesis, all we see is the mental rape of Troi and Troi linking up with the Reman to get the location of the cloaked Scimitar. Quote
*zeo Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 You mean Insurrection.Sorry, you're right, got my emotions about the movie mixed up with the title. It is theorized that it's a byproduct of the planet's regenerative environment since Picard was able to do it but was never shown again. That's one theory but since no one else could do it besides the people from that planet that it is most likely just something they learned to do.Picard wasn't really able to do it on his own, he needed her help. So it was really her doing it. Also remember she was what, over a century old? People on that planet were virtually immortal, short of getting killed. It's why so many were interested in the planet. I wouild liken it to being able to control your body temperature at will, takes a lot of mental discipline and training before you can do it. Even the scene where she was badly hurt Picard asked her to help him hold on to the moment. Quote
McAvoy Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 More like 200 years old. The Son'a as a seperate species (or organization) are a century old. It is a good possibility that they as a people have dormant abilities since they are not supposed to be human but humanoid. Quote
