Losing blood for the guyver!!!

Featured Replies

Aaaaarghh, just cut my finger open trying to build a Guyver model!?! Its a recast model of Guyver 3 and seems to have far too much extra vinyl around all the body parts which I am trying to carve away!

I've just ordered a few official max factory model kits, I hope there easier to put together! Please tell me i'm not the only clumsy one out there?

I'm hoping the gluing together part will be the easiest, i'm dreading the painting!

The things I put myself through for the love of Guyver!

I know exactly how you feel, same thing happened to me when I was into Warhammer, I actually have a couple of scars on my fingers from the box cutter knifes I used.

Still, be careful not to get any glue in any of your cuts, it hurts like a real...

Try softening up the vinyl by keeping the parts in warm soapy water. Then using a crafting knife to cut off the extra vinyl. Thats how i have done my Guyver 3 with megasmasher open and Guvyer Zoanoid (which i managed to get before Sully at Memorabilia 2004)

Cheers Zeus, I'll try that out!

This is why I don't do model kits anymore.

Hairdryers also work to soften vinyl. If you us water make sure to dry the piece off or you're just as likely to lop off a finger.

And yes, the official kits are 100% easier to put together than recasts. Recasts of any kind always require far more work to get looking right.

On a side note, superglue is sometimes used to seal bleeding cuts. So though it'll hurt, it'll also seal the wound and isn't actually bad for you.
