  1. Sean Barker Working with Sean was a little more interesting, mostly because being based on the live action movies was both better and worse then off the manga and anime. Better in that there was a live actor to base some of his character on. Worse due to the fact that the live action movies were not strictly cannon in the grand scheme of things, and the campy feel had to be drastically reduced to show the characters as serious. Thusly Sean is a bit darker a character in this fic. He is brooding and vacilates between depression and hyperactivity in almost a bipolar way. I chose to make sure that Sean and Sho are very different characters to each other, as opposed to a Japanese and American version of the reluctant hero. Some of the fight scenes done so far, especially the one in the Chronos building, contrast Sean's infiltration with Sho's. Sean tends to brutally beat down his opponents, Sho kills quickly and cleanly whenever possible. Sean revels in the combat, and in the power that the guyver gives him. Sho on the other hand doesn't, he uses the guyver because he must, but he doesn't normally express fondness for the experience. It will be interesting to see what turn his character takes as I write the third and final part of Union. Cori in many ways was Sean's anchor, much as Mitzuki is Sho's in the Manga. With her removal he will be more volatile then before and the more brutal side of his nature will cost him now that his better side is somewhat cast adrift. What are your thoughts?
  2. Ok, no megasmasher needed. * cheerfully pulls out da' 5 iron* Four! *Whacks the topic to the Games Discussion* I've played CoH for the trial. It was interesting. A bit too monotonous for my tastes. But I created a guyver-like character as well, from a Blaster archetype. The Energy weapons weren't exactly right, but some punches and flashy kicks and it was close enough for me.
  3. Sho Fukamachi Some people have commented on the noticable difference between Sho in this fic, and the Sho in the Manga. This was a conscious decision on my part when beginning the fic. Since this fic does not focus on Sho anymore, I didn't want him to be a character the reader would still need to worry about on a 'daily' basis. The decision to show a more mature and self-reliant Sho invited a lot of depth into the character that will hopefully keep him alive and growing in the story, as opposed to being generally ignored on the grounds that we can't know what Yoshiki Takaya intends with the character's development. This 'clean break' approach allows the fics to diverge from the Manga and gain a certain amount of integrity seperate from the ongoing official plotline. However, the flip-side is that my rendition of Sho may conflict with other impressions of the character. In many ways it is more accurate to consider this Sho a fully seperate character then the one in the Manga from this point on. What are your thoughts?
  4. That's one of the reasons we're spending so much time building up the characters now. In this version it's not the powers that are going to be showcased. It's the person behind them. Even Jason when he becomes WG, is going to be more about him then his armor. This is one of the reasons you'll notice that there is much less frequency in calling Sho 'Guyver 1' and Sean 'Guyver US' in the fics. Regardless of the armor, the flashy powers, or the incredible battles. On a personal level they're all going to be equally important. Granted it will be more challenging to write Sean into a battlefield that includes heavy powerhouses like WG and Bio Titans. But frankly, I'm relishing the oppertunity to try.
  5. Hi all, Since we are putting so much work into breathing life into the many various characters we have in the fics, I'd like to take an opportunity to ask for feedback on how you like the portrayals. This topic is for discussion of the characters and what you like and don't like about them. And for us to answer questions and supply a little 'behind-the-scenes' insight into why certain characters are portrayed how they are.
  6. Thanks for the review Raven. We've all worked very hard to make this version of the fic as immersive as possible. It's always nice to hear that the work is appreciated. And rest assured the appearance of WG and the more powerful portion of the cast is not going to make the fic boring. We're giving them the same amount of work that we're giving the regular guyvers. It is nice to know that we started things off with a bang, and have given compelling portrayals of the starting characters. Stay tuned for the next part!
  7. Vader is Luke's father!? Oh man, I knew I should have kept up to date on this stuff. Seriously though, while on a technical level it was a spoiler, it also is a pretty ubiquitous one here. If you feel the need to discuss it some more, please take it to PM. At this point it's getting a bit off topic.
  8. It's a VERY creepy game. The interface was fairly intuitive. I have played through a few of the Silent Hill games, and my one complaint was the sometimes restrictive camera angles. The Suffering didn't suffer from this. Storyline was immersive and compelling, and it was refreshing to have swearing in a PS2 game.
  9. Interesting question, ain't it?
  10. Fair question, Guyverfanatic. I don't think there is any one good answer to that question, so I have a bunch of little ones. We received new info about the capabilities of the Gigantic that threw a lot of what we had done out of whack. Some of us looked back at the original stories and winced. There was a general feeling that 'man it'd be nice to redo this or that.' Finally we started discussing it seriously and came up with the idea of using the original fics, in all their seperate stories as a template for one definitive addition that would work to shore up plot holes and turn the seperate 'scripts' into a more complete, better quality fiction. It's a big undertaking, but we're all masochists to one degree or another I think. Such is the life of a fan(atic).
  11. Thanks for the feedback. I know it's been a long wait getting it out. But I hope it was worth it. Beginning work on Chapter Three, and hopeful of a shorter turn-around for it. ( You keep your darn law to yourself Murphy!)
  12. Shocking, Shocking. I am actually real! Not a figment of the imagination! Man it has been way too long since I've dropped by here. And boy do I wish I could get PAID for doing this stuff.
