Bobby Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 (edited) This is a prologue to give you a feel for my character before he became Kamen Rider Ocean Knight. My name is Bobby Thompson. I was born & raised in Los Angeles, California alongside my two younger sisters Amanda & Samantha and three dogs. I was a pretty normal guy. I went to school, hung out with my friends, did my homework, etc. I even took martial arts lessons when I was a teenager. I chose to learn kung fu because I idolized various martial arts movie stars. I learned to use various weapons and it was fun. I completed my training on my nineteenth birthday and continue practicing to this day. I also spent a lot of time on my computer where my creativity flourished in the form of stories, banners, and customized CDs. I eventually developed an interest in a popular trading card game called Battle Monsters while still being able to hangout with my friends. When I was in my mid-twenties, I started working at a grocery store part-time as a bagger. I made a ton of friends and made lots of customers laugh with jokes & stories. I did various things throughout the store. I bagged groceries, collect carts, help customers to their cars, re-shelved items, etc. It was good. It was while working there that I met a girl named Andrea Mendes. She had long black hair and light skin. She was cute and I developed a liking to her after getting to know her. I cracked a few jokes that got her laughing and we became friends as a result. We even hung out with some co-workers named Sasha Delgado, Morgan Chilman, Macio Rawlings & Bryant Kendall. I always had a blast. For my 24th birthday, I got two really awesome things. One was a 2008 Ford Mustang GT, complete with a hardtop, painted purple with decals of my favorite teams & my all-time favorite movie “Ghostbusters”, which was on the driver’s side door. It was my dream car and a gift from my family. It was a perfect thing alongside the motorcycle my dad & I had built when I was a teenager. The other thing I got was my favorite hockey team, the Anaheim Ducks, win the Stanley Cup. This allowed me to get a license plate that honored that. At one point, my interest in Battle Monsters led to me attending booster previews where I made more friends. I even passed out business cards to my forum about the game. It was at one of these previews that I met a long, brown haired girl named Bethany Hanson who I took a real liking to immediately. She was really cool and the fact that she was into some of the same stuff I was into made it even better. We had matches against each other online and whenever we’d see one another at hobby leagues. After a few months, I finally asked her out and we’ve been dating ever since. My friendship with Andrea grew stronger one particular day. Bryant, Morgan, Macio & I were attending a Lakers/Rockets game and were having a blast watching our favorite team, the Lakers, kick butt. The Lakers beat the Rockets 110 – 102 and we got some souvenirs before we left the Staples Center. I got into my Mustang and started heading home when my cell phone rang as I neared the La Brea Tar Pits on Wilshire Boulevard. I pulled it out of my pocket and answered it after I pulled over. It was Sasha and she sounded worried. “Bobby, it’s Sasha. Have you seen Andrea?” she asked. “No. I just left the Lakers game I was at with the guys. Why? What’s wrong?” I asked. “She, Bethany & I were hanging out at a dance club when we spotted Jason.” Sasha said. “What was he doing there?” I asked. “Dancing with another girl instead of being at work like he told Andrea he would be.. Bethany & I tried to keep her from seeing this. But we failed. She saw him and he saw her. She bolted out of the club. We have no clue where she went.” Sasha explained. “I’ll keep my eyes peeled and look for her. She couldn’t have gotten far. I’ll keep you informed.” I said before I hung up and went driving around looking for Andrea. I couldn’t believe Jason cheated on Andrea again as I looked for Andrea. He seemed like a nice guy when Andrea first introduced the others & I to him. Andrea was willing to forgive the guy when he was caught cheating twice before. But knowing Andrea, this was definitely the last straw. An hour later, I found Andrea about a block away from the Capital Records building crying her eyes out. I pulled up several feet ahead of her and got out. I ran up to Andrea as I called out to her and she looked up to see me. She ran up to me and we put our arms around each other. I assured her that it was all right as she continued to cry and we heard a male voice call Andrea’s name. We looked around and saw Jason running towards us. “What do you want, Jason?” I asked angrily. “I want to apologize to Andrea. It’s not what she thinks.” Jason said. “From what I heard, it was you dancing with someone that WASN’T your girlfriend after you said you had some work to do.” I said. “This is none of your business, Bobby. Stay out of this!” Jason said. “Andrea IS my business, Jason. I don’t like it when people hurt my friends. And friendship is something I value the most.” I said. “Just back off and go back to the loser pit you climbed out of. Come on, Andrea. We need to talk.” Jason said as he tried to grab Andrea’s hand. “No!” Andrea said as she batted Jason’s hand down. “What?” he asked. “You lied to me and didn’t think that my friends & I would see you. You’ve cheated on me before and I forgave you. But this time was the last time, Jason. We’re through!” Andrea said. Jason tried to grab Andrea again but I intercepted his arm by grabbing it and stepped between them. I shoved his arm back and Jason told me to get out of his way. I refused and he shoved me. I stood my ground and he tried to punch me but missed because I dodged it. He tried again but I used my left hand to deflect it before slamming my right hand into the back of my left to push Jason back. He stumbled back until he fell onto the ground and he got angrier. “Forget this! I’m out of here.” Jason said as he got up and left. “Are you all right?” I asked Andrea. “I will be after I get some sleep. Thank you.” Andrea said. “It’s what friends do. Come on, I’ll take you home.” I said as I escorted her to my car. As Andrea climbed into my car, I called Sasha and informed her about what happened. She was glad that Andrea stood up for herself and I could hear Bethany saying that she was also really happy that I put Jason in his place as she insulted the guy from the background. I thanked her as I started up my car and sat down. I had Sasha tell Bethany that I’d see her the next day for our date before I hung up and drove Andrea home. When we got to Andrea’s house, we were greeted by her aunt, Martha. He was ecstatic to see that Andrea was all right and hugged her as she got out of my car. She thanked me for bringing her home safely as I got out & walked around my car to them and I assured her that it was what true friends do. I looked at my watch and realized that I had to get home because I had to make dinner for my family. I told Andrea & Martha that I had to make parmesan crusted pork chops with spaghetti and they understood. Andrea thanked me again for standing up for her as I got into my car and I said that it was nothing as I did a two-finger salute. I told Andrea that I’d see her at work on Monday before I drove home to make dinner for my family. Over the next few weeks, Bethany, Sasha, Macio, Morgan, Bryant & I kept Andrea company whenever we weren’t at work. We’d all do things like throw a football around, watch DVDs of movies & standup comedians, shoot hoops, etc. Bethany & I even taught Andrea how to play Battle Monsters too and she enjoyed it. But I couldn’t help but notice that she seemed paranoid. Like someone was watching or after her. I kept assuring her that our friends & I wouldn’t let anything happen to her. Bethany, Macio, Sasha, Morgan & Bryant also assured Andrea that nothing would happen to her and she thanked us. One day, Bethany & I were on a date at the mall when my cell started playing “On Our Own” from “Ghostbusters 2”. It was my cousin Eduardo Jr., Eddie for short, and he seemed concerned. He said he had some horrible news and to make sure I was sitting down. Bethany & I sat down on some couches in the middle of the mall and I told Eddie that I was sitting down. “Your friend Andrea has disappeared!” he said. “WHAT?!? What happened?” I asked. “We don’t know what happened. The CSIs are gathering the evidence. But there appears to be signs of a struggle but no forced entry.” Eddie said. “Will you keep me informed?” I asked. “Sure. I’ll call you later, Bobby.” Eddie said. “Thanks, cuz. Talk to you later.” I said as I hung up. “What happened?” Bethany asked. “Andrea’s gone missing. There appears to be indications of a struggle but no indication someone forced their way in.” I explained. “Who do you think did it?” Bethany asked. “There’s only one person I can think of.” I said. “You mean Jason.” Bethany said. “Yeah. We better inform Sasha & the guys.” I said. Bethany agreed with me and we took out our cell phones. We started calling up our friends to tell them and they were all shocked. We all agreed to meet up at my house and Bethany & I left the mall on my motorcycle. A few hours later, we were gathering in the rec room of my house when Eddie called. He asked me to come to the police station because they needed to ask me some questions and I told him I’d be there. I told my friends that they needed to ask me a few things at the police station and I kissed Bethany on the cheek. Then I got on in my Mustang and headed to the police station. Thirty minutes later, I arrived at the station and was greeted by my cousin. He escorted me to an interrogation room where I met Hugh Langstrom, the head CSI. He asked me to have a seat and I did what I asked. I asked what they wanted to talk to me about and Hugh asked where I was at around ten o’clock in the morning. I explained that I was in my bed asleep after being up late talking to some friends of mine online. “Can anyone confirm this?” Hugh asked. “Yeah. My dad. He called me at 10:05 to wake me up so I can get ready for my date with my girlfriend. We were at the mall all day. Why?” I asked. “We found evidence that you were in Andrea’s room recently.” Hugh said as he showed me some pictures of the crime scene. The pictures showed my fingerprints & handprints on things like Andrea’s mirror, dresser & window sill. There was also pictures of some of my skin & hair on the floor and Hugh asked me to explain those. I pointed out the bad habit I had of picking my fingers by showing him my fingernails and he asked me about my prints. “My friends & I would hangout in Andrea’s room whenever we’d come over. Sometimes I’d sit on the window sill or lean against her dresser. And with the mirror, Bryant, Macio, Morgan, Sasha, Bethany & I helped Andrea re-decorate her room a few days ago. I handled her mirror. Even readjusted it to get the most light for her.” I explained. “And your hair on the floor?” Hugh asked. “I know martial arts and sometimes I’d show Andrea & my friends a demonstration. Plus, I sometimes shed like my beagle.” I said as some guy whispered something in Hugh’s ear. “Seems you’re telling the truth. One of my team members just talked to your father who confirmed that you were up late talking to friends online and that he called you at 10:05 this morning. And Andrea’s aunt also confirmed that you & your friends helped re-decorate and you demonstrate your martial arts to Andrea & your friends in Andrea’s room. Can you tell me anyone who could have taken her?” Hugh said. “Her ex-boyfriend Jason Todd, perhaps. She caught him cheating on her with another girl a while back and when he tried to talk to her & she refused, he tried to force her to come with him. I stopped him without hitting him.” I said. “Okay. We’ll look into it. Sorry for suspecting you. If you think of anything else, give me a call.” Hugh said as he handed me a business card. “Sure thing. Please find Andrea.” I said as I got up. He assured me that they would find her and I thanked him. Eddie was standing outside the interrogation room and he told me that he told my dad about Andrea disappearing being the reason why I was at the police station. I thanked him for doing that as we walked outside to my car and he assured me that we’d find Andrea. I thanked him and drove home where I told my friends what happened. We all became more worried about Andrea and wondered who took her and where she could be. THE END _01__Life_Before_Riders.pdf Edited March 6, 2009 by Bobby Quote
Bobby Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 I won't post the second story where my character gets his Advent Deck until people read the prologue and post what they think. Sorry for how that sounds. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 It's not bad. My only question about it is are all your stories for this Rider going to be in first person POV? Quote
Bobby Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 Just the Dragon Knight ones. Force of habit. I'll make Medulla like pikapix58's stories. Did the story give you a feel for the guy who's destined to become Dragon Knight??? Quote
Bobby Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 I based the CSI guy in the story after Gil Grissom on "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and the other characters are named after people in my life. Except for Martha. Quote
