My browser gave me a message while I was signing in that this site is "not secure and your sign in might be compromised".  Has the security system not been updated and FireFox is just being a worrywart, or is something else going on?

    It's because the website doesn't offer SSL secure login. Considering we're not storing credit card info or the likes it's not needed.
