daveblackeye152 Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 About time. I was getting a little worried there. I can't wait to see this one. Cool cover btw. Quote
guyverfanatic Posted August 21, 2004 Author Posted August 21, 2004 Well the delay was that the Japanese side had to approve the cover. So let's hope for no more delays that way they can catch up in no time at all. Quote

I wonder how long the regular wait is going to be. The first three books felt like they were coming out right after another, but I don't think that's the regular rate I think it was the "Grabber" to hook in their readers and get them deep into the story. Guest Posted August 23, 2004 Posted August 23, 2004 Well, I guess my hypothesis on current translators of the Guyver series to adapt the covers from the Chinese covers, but overall they're doing quite a fantastic job! I don't suppose they're using the viz same dialogue as the Viz novels, either, huh? Quote
*Jess♥ Posted August 24, 2004 Posted August 24, 2004 this is very good news indeed! I simply cannot wait until sept 7th!! we are living in good times!! Quote
Guest Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 Hey folks! It still amazes me at how many people buy the CYP books after my original post about what!comics being a distributer. Sorry I haven't been writing much but I work long hours! Right now I have the first two books and waiting for book 4 to come out so I can get both 3 & 4. Now to answer the question about whether or not they are using Viz's comic scheme, the answer is no. This rendition is being COMPLETELY retranslated from the ground up using the Kadokawa artwork. Compare the american editions to the CYP editions. To me the CYP editions are much better all the way around. As for me... I can't wait till books eight and on. But oh well... They will get them out sooner or later! Anyways, gotta jet... Work soon! CYA LATEZ! Quote
Guest Posted August 28, 2004 Posted August 28, 2004 i think the viz comics are much better, the artwork isnt as good but the translation feels more like a comic. the cyp feels a bit dodgy when you read some of the lineslike for instance in the 3rd cyp book balcus says "seems like its time for your debuts" whereas in the viz edition he says "ah good, its time for you men to go into action" just seems a little better to me is all. I think CYP's quality is waaay higher than Viz's releases. The titles for each chapter are well, not crap like Viz. Not too mention they are unflipped and have nice dust jackets. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 i'm with guyverfanatic! Maybe we should have a vote!! i think it all depends on what youre used to. i read a lot of manga and i hate american comics. i find the dialogue in the viz books rather uninspired, cliched and quite simply cheesy. sorry but thats how i feel. once i read the chuang yi versions i just fell in love all over again!! well only six more days! btw (robertghent):-"It still amazes me at how many people buy the CYP books after my original post about what!comics being a distributer." i don't know if anyone realises this but they generally are available on ebay. i find this easier than ordering them through whatcomics. hope this helps! Yes, I know. I bought vol. 3 from bestdvd_com on ebay too. Vol. 5 is in production. I asked the webed, and he said there may be a delay in approving covers from the Japanese side. Quote
daveblackeye152 Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 GuyverFanatic: Vol. 5 is in production. I asked the webed, and he said there may be a delay in approving covers from the Japanese side. No! Just say yes to every cover they show to them! That would just take five seconds. Just say yes! Ergh! I how I hate delays. I like the CYP comics more than Viz's. In Viz they often said dumb things Exampe: in book one chapter 2, Tetusro calls Gregole "Godzilla Jr.". In CYP comics he says nothing like that. Also in the fist issue of Viz Gregole says "I slice 'em, I dice 'em I incsectize 'em". So Viz always adds dumb lines to their comics (or at least Guyver) The titles names are also better and are kinda cool. "Risky", "Awesome!" "Hyper!" and "Incrediable!" are uncreative names that Viz gave to Guyver. I once gave Viz Guyver book 5/5 but now that I've seen Chuang Yi I now say this... Viz: 2 1/2 /5 Chuang Yi: 5/5 Quote
guyverfanatic Posted September 2, 2004 Author Posted September 2, 2004 http://www.chuangyi.com.sg/guestbook2004/cgi-bin/guestbook.cgi Look at post #779, which is me. (so it may come out in Oct....) Quote
Guest Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 I think I might put some money I'm getting for Christmas towards getting the volumes, considering it looks like the Australian Disrubitors have no intention of releasing it any time soon, despite my threats...... I mean inquiries ; Quote
*Jess♥ Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 well at least its'quicker than the last wait! what was it? 3/4 months? this time its only 1 month between oct and sept. thats cool by me, anyway its much quicker than the wait for the next japanese version!! if they come out every 1-2 months that means we could have the whole lot by mid 2006! Quote

Well the Japanese volume come out every 7 months or so since 1 chapter per month in Shonen Ace magazine. But, in no time at all will we be at vol. 8 Quote
daveblackeye152 Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 GuyverFanatic: < But, in no time at all will we be at vol. 8 Ahh, I can hardly wait for Vol.4 but that's nothing compared to my anticapation of vol.8. I especially look forward to Chuang Yi's version of Murakami's story in book 4. Quote
