*Jess♥ Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 I looked for somewhere to put this but couldn't find any other topic. i apologise if its in the wrong place. I have recently recieved the first two books of the translation of guyver. For anyone who was deciding wether or not to go for them, I will describe them. The print quality of the books is slightly inferior to that of the original but far better than the viz prints. The paper is of a thinner quality. The book is in the same format and aspect as the original(you read right to left). The translation itself is performed by differnet people for different books. as a result the writing takes on a different quality. Book 1 is amazing! it is not simply translated but it is written much like a novel. book 2 is very good in that respect but a couple of places have errors that can really distract. eg "I having really scared" instead of " I was terrified". That kind of thing (except i went to extremes to illustrate). All in all a very nice product. If you are super picky like me get the japanese and the Chuang yi books. As for the viz books, With these new translations coming out theyre not worth bothering with. Hope this info helps everyone! Quote
Guest Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 Guyverfantatic already had a topic like this at one point. I want to order them in, but Australia's Anime distributer has just started releasing Manga, and Chuang Yi manga's at that and I'm going to wait a couple of months and see if they're going to release the Guyver. Changes are, that they won't, but I have the patience to wait and find out Quote
guyverfanatic Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 Yes, I did have a thread of it at one point, but I think it got deleted. Anyway, Chuang Yi Publishing's quality is far superior to Viz. I noticed a couple of things like "Sekawa" in the second volume and Guo (or something like that), which I then pointed out in the guestbook. So they'll be fixed in when reprinted. Anway.... if you guys like to read the guest book like me, I would be Patrick (from the USA) in the Chuang Yi guest book. Quote
daveblackeye152 Posted June 22, 2004 Posted June 22, 2004 I asked my brother to order these for my birthday. I can't wait to get them and compare them to Viz myself. And I look forward to seeing the NEW, IMPROVED and BRAND NEW look of *ba boom!* GUYVER II!!! And Zerebubuse also. 1 Quote
