But we ARE developing in philosophical terms. Anyone that has tried to push forward the philosophy of startrek, and made any real headway into world peace, has been assassinated On the direct forefront, in the political arena, peace is a joke and nothing more than a talking point. The United Nations is a great idea, but has been corrupted so that even it's police agencies have been corrupted into organized crime. In the area where it's supposed to count, we have been disappointed and failed miserably. On the other hand, our social evolution has advanced infinitely due to the advent of the digital age, specifically, thanks to the internet. Ideas used to be spread by word of mouth, and could be silenced easily. The sword and club ruled. Now... "you can't stop the signal". A single idea or fact can spread throughout the world, and close minded communities are struggling to censor thoughts. Religions with false claims have suppressed the rights of various peoples for eons, justifying most any horrendous act for there cause. Now, truth can be spread far more easily. People are reluctant to change, but it slowly does occur. After all, they say that the internet is where religion comes to die. We have a long way to go, but we are getting there. Teetering on the brink of becoming borg one day perhaps, but solving some of our ancient problems too. Our technology is destroying ancient dogmas and the economy. It is destroying the reasons for our primitive barbarism.
