harakiri, death of a samurai

Featured Replies

probably just saw the best movie all year and wasn't even at the cinema!

just watched this on dvd, apparentely was released last year but only just saw it on the shelve at my local store.

i love these japanese movies as most really know how to tell a great story with great history and this movie has a really great dramatic story(ladies, get the kleenex ready!)

not a whole lot of action in this but was glued to the screen the whole way through(and no, it wasn't because i had to read the english subtitles because i'm a gaijin)

to keep it short its set in 17th century japan and is about a lordless samurai who seeks to use a noble's court yard to honourably commit seppicu.

this movie was made by the same maker you produced 13 assassins which was released a year before, which was another fantastic movie set around the same era.

i watched it thought it was good but not as good as the original black n white its a classic. I was waiting to see if it was any better with the 3d version but but after watching it i had second thoughts. but nice to see an colour updated version.
