I'm going to be looking into seeing if this game as indeed been released here in Australia

And what I want to know, before I even consider forking the money out for it, if its worth it or not? Can anyone help?

I highly recommend it! Then again, this is coming from someone who only plays Final Fantasy, but oh well...

Final Fantasy XI gives you a lot of freedom to do whatever you want, and there's an endless amount to do, not just fighting and leveling up. There are quests to be done to build your fame in the cities of Vana'diel, a thosand places to explore, missions to complete to progress the storyline, guild skill to build up, money to make, and who can forget, running in terror when you're aggroed by a monster stronger than you -_-* That will happen a lot.

There are some things that people don't like about Final Fantasy XI, but this is mostly based upon their experiance with other on-line games. One is the fighting system; there's usually something about it that turns them off to the game. It's auto-attack, giving you the freedom to use items, cast spells, use weapon skills, etc. The second thing is the whole focus of the game is based off of parties and teamwork; you can only solo easily until level 15 before you are, more or less, forced to join a party. I didn't like this at first, but it's fun if you really get into it.

One of the best things about Final Fantasy XI is the ability to change jobs at will. The only thing that you finalize when you first begin is your race, hair/face, body size, and name. Other than that, you can change jobs at will, which makes the game a lot of fun as you explore different skills and abilities.

I got one question.... How much a month does it cost to play this game?

It starts at $12.95 a month, I believe, with one free character. Each addictional character after that is an etra $1.

hmmm, 13 bucks a month, I mighyt get it, but do you HAVE to have both the game and the exapnsion, or are there still places that you can play without the expansion?

Getting Final Fantasy XI comes with the first expansion, the Raise of Zilart, but the second expansion, Chains of Promathia, you have to buy seperate. Chains of Promathia does give new areas to explore, and it more focused on storyline. There's more than enough to do without Chains of Promathia, if you can't get it right away. Since I got it, I've only been to one of the new areas, so if you're interested in getting the game, its not essential until you want to get into the story.

But, truth be told, very little people play the game for the story, myself included. There's just too much other stuff to do...
