Interesting or just plain stupid?

I was looking at guyver comics on amazon.co.jp and was using http://dictionary.reference.com/translate/ to translate some of the text.

And when I was on this page: http://www.amazon.co.jp/exec/obidos/ASI ... 66-3458652 the translation results were as follows:

Yes, the translations arent perfect and alot of this dose not make sense but the text seems to refere to the Zoalords as 'animal God military officers', is there any good reason for this or were the translations just poor?

the reference to the zoalords as the animal mumbo jumbo or whatnot isn't just coincidental, I'm pretty sure I've heard or read about it's relativity. But anyway, the rest of the translation is completely crappy.

It also refers to sho as 'crystal'. ("the fukamachi crystal" is actually "sho fukamachi")

The word sho actually means crystal or power.

a lot of the translations engines do not understand the context in which words are written.

japanese as a language is very context sensetive. therefore the same word in different situations can mean wildly different things.

that said, murakami was referred to as Beast Master in anime vol 11, beast master or animal god, both describe perfectly what a zoalord does. and military officer, or general is what they are. chronos generals, zoalords.

so yes to both questions.

Interesting stuff drag-5 and yes tragic fool the translations are very crappy.

I also thought this was worth mentioning since it is both interesting and stupid, at the end of the episode 5-8 video (I think its this one) one of the data files refers to Zoalord 12 as Zoarode 12.

I, personally, use AltaVista's Babel Fish and it never has perfect translations. I doubt any online translation site will ever translate stuff perfectly. So, just gotta get used to weird translations. *shrugs* That's my $0.02

Back when I was translating with Masako, she went over everything word by word. For fun she decided to do a few words at random. One of them was Sho. The kanji, a box with a horizontal line through it. This represents the sun on the horizon, reflecting in the ocean. Three of these boxes in a pyramid configuration is the kanji for Sho's name. It meens 'brilliant', as in really bright and shiny I assume.

She also did Agito for me too. Well, it was either Agito or Makishima. We were flipping through the references in the back of the book, and she said how it ment 'strong jaw/mandible'. I guess that explains why Takaya drew Agito the way he did in the earlier chapters.

Fukimachi is supposed to meen small village, but please don't ask me to explain it, I'm just taking her word for it. I really don't see the relation; unless it's because Sho is a small town boy. Maybe it has as much significance as Murikami
