Resident Evil: Apocalypse

I saw this movie today with some friends and it was quite enjoyable. Quite funny too with the Black cabbie guy providing comic relief.

I've been waiting for this movie, and was let down.

Ok, the first part of being let down was the fault of the theatre, and not the movie itself. The commercials were aired perfectly fine- but trouble started with the previews. I meen, the British Zombie movie was shown out of aspect ratio. And after a few people complained, they switched it to only showing the bottom half of the screen. The opening of the movie was messed for us, but it was finally cleared up by the time the movie decided to pan underground to show us the scientists opening the hive.

any scene showing a regular mob of zombies had that camera time skip. Ok, so they wanted the zombies to appear threatening by giving them the appearance of speed? um.... it failed. The zombies did not appear threatening, the camera effect got annoying. The horror of a zombie mob is that it is slow death, and there is nothing you can do to stop it. I was annoyed every time.

Every fight scene had a jumpy camera so that you couldn't really see what was going on. That got me really annoyed. Why have a fight scene if you don't get to enjoy the fighting moves? I will admit, we did get to see a few really cool things, like the main charactor running down Toronto (oops, I meen Racoon) City Hall.

The entire movie was set at a fast pace. It didn't give the audience time to breath and take everything in for the next scene. It was Wham! Wham! Wham! It was trying to hard to be exciting.

It also gave no sense of accomplishment. The ending wasn't when the city blew up, it wasn't when they escaped. They just said, to be continued. Very nice, I'd have prefered that for television. I've got no problem with a sequil series, but a complete story sense would be a little nice.

Yes, it was a good movie to be entertained by, but maybe for dvd release. I kind of miss the main charactor from the first movie, I was looking forward to seeing her again. Too bad they just had her mind completely change without showing her develope. Oh well, Nemesis was really cool.
