So, I've been poking around YouTube lately looking for broadcasts from the Sci-Fi Channel (no, I will not use the current name, TYVM). One thing I've been looking for are promos from when the channel aired the live-action Guyver films. Lo and behold, I found something! Skip to the 3:04 mark, and you'll find them there!4 points

Slight update: They actually finally replied on my Facebook group. There have been some delays due to various things, but they are about 95% done they said. still couldn't give a release date, but they are still working on it.3 points

Yeah, unfortunately Figma's being delayed is almost a 50-50 chance. This likely being a special edition as well ( since 2025 is the 40th anniversary) the chances are probably higher... I'll be buying 2, like I did with Guyver 1... Unless they announce a certain red colored EX figure to be released at the same time... I would just get one of each then, as that is getting too high in cost by that point for me.2 points

I think we'll see more in the Jan/feb Winter Wonderfest, with probably a late 2025 for a release date... This is all going by how long it took the new Guyver 1 figma to go from uncolored prototype to release.2 points

Figma Guyver Gigantic is a literal dream come true. I'm expecting 200 USD for the price. But it'll be worth it, hopefully it won't be too long till release.2 points

The Guyver parts do look neat, as they are robotic in nature, not just straight design copied over... But about 80% if the figure is just their standard "Gale Hound" base figure (Head, chest and parts to add arm blades). It's a pretty lazy collaberation... One I probably won't be taking part in. It's more like a "character" in the Titanomakia universe of story are fans of Guyver and customized their suits that way.2 points

Looks very "Fan-ish" to me. One that I'll choose over any Hollywood version anytime. Still, good job.2 points

Finally in my possession! There are already a number of small things I dislike about it... Minor things that you'd think on such an expensive figure would be dealt with... Things I could forgive on a $300 figure of this size. Frankly, I don't think it was ever going to be "worth" the price they charged. Though it didn't have a specific limited number like the Prime 1 statues... This is still very limited. So I guess it's still nice to say I have one at the lowest price it ever will be. Though, to be fair, it was at least cheaper than what I paid for my BFC Max Imakarum... So I guess perspective is one thing...2 points

Congrats Matt. Just replied to your message on FB. Thanks for pointing out the scale descerpency. That's a bit of a miss fire isn't it. Real shame it's 15mm too tall. At least it's less of an issue on a bigger figure. Did a few comparisons with official art and also the figma gigantic which kinda highlights it. At least the figma is looking to be accurate.2 points

Finally saw it yesterday. Certainly wasn't bad... Not the 3rd worst Marvel movie as the RT score would make you believe... Definitely better than The Marvels and Thor: L&T. Felt more like a Thor: Dark World or Iron Man 2. Entertaining, but nothing of real substance. I'd probably place it around 28th of the 35 movies... Which does place it well above the real low points for the MCU. But you could tell this wasn't meant to be a Falcon movie... As the plot all screamed for the Hulk. It was honestly like they had a Hulk movie sitting, waiting for Universal to let them make it, but eventually the Hulk changed enough through all the movies and they just decided to say screw it all, and make it a Falcon movie. I wonder if the whole thing about Bucky will be mentioned at all in Thunderbolts*.1 point

I do wonder what's in the remaining five percent... I feel like Deadpool's gonna come in saying, "It's a metal arm, it's not like we're trying to remove a MUSTACHE!!!!"1 point

So in the two live action films, it's shown that the Guyver armor is stored in the body. You see the tendrils come through the receivers on Sean's neck several times. I've always noticed this, but wondered why. Does anyone know, or at least suspect why? Was it simply an artistic liberty, or perhaps done for budgetary reasons? Since I'm sure trying the flashy transformation sequence from the anime would be too costly.1 point

Looks interesting! https://www.instagram.com/p/DAqohhyPnWT/?igsh=MWZnNGdiZnRnbTM2NQ== On picture 12 - looking in the background to right hand side - there's part of an guyver costume! 🥳 🕵️♂️1 point

No! It would seem inevitable, but... eh. A thousand dollars for something which I cannot transform myself, cannot pose myself and which cannot be displayed in robot mode. Thew said it best:1 point

No, I have him... Four times: The Classics, the Henkei, the original Shattered Glass and the Kobalt Blue "Powered Convoy"-style one. ....I may have a problem1 point

Do you mean Wonder Festival 2025? 2026 seems to be way far off to be planning now. Looks like it's scheduled at February 9 (based on the official site). I would want to go, but my Japanese Visa expires this year, and it's a pain in the @$$ to get visas for the entire family. Well, hope you have fun.1 point

So, are we allowed to talk spoilers now or do we wait until next week? (as if Social Media hasn't already)1 point

Unfortunately, since these are brand new figures, in a different scale, it is VERY unlikely that they will "re-issue" anything. If they do a new Guyver 3, it will be a brand new figure.1 point

some really interesting ideas being played with here first thing I want to talk about is the 'boost creature'. well, we need to consider that we only call it the boost creature because we don't have any other name for it. it is the parasitic organism that makes up the core of the boost armour but this does not necessarily mean it is a literal 'booster', but rather the creature used for the boost system. from what we have seen, the main characteristic of the parasite is the ability to decode and use the DNA of the host creature. we can see how this would be useful for a booster system. it is almost like a genetic cut and paste system all ready to be used by the control metal. as was written in the VDF, it is an instant body remodelling system. further from this, I can address another thing that has been said. that is the way zoanoids differ from the guyver system. in a zoanoid, the data for the transformation and the final zoanoid form is present in the cells of the body. aptom is designed to take this cell and the data within it and to place it within his own library of genetic data. the problem with the guyver system is that the weapon data is not stored in the hosts cells. shou cannot use guyvers weapons unless he is bio-boosted. it stands to reason that the control metal is responsible for all weapon and system data. without that data, the resultant form devolves into an ugly monstrous form that we have already seen in volume 2 of the manga. this is further evidence the weapons data of guyver is not within the cells of guyver or the host. it isn't conclusive though. the data may still be there and we simply did not witness the creature using said abilities. lastly, I wanted to talk about the zoacrystal and aptoms potential energy sources. we have to this date seen many zoanoid forms that appear to feature some kind of srystal structure with no obvious reason for it, no apparent use for it etc. for example, enzyme II and III have a crystal right on their forehead. what is this for? well since the zoacrystal has been said to be used for energy storage like a battery, then why not use other kinds of crystal batteries for other zoanoids? well we have seen aptom in action and it is clear that he has massive reserves of energy anyway. he could have many energy storage methods including many biologically generated crystals that could be on par with a protozoalords crystal in terms of energy storage. but of course he has not displayed any mind control abilities so there must be a specific configuration for that ability within a crystal. who knows? oh! I said lastly but i forgot to mention something else that i was thinking of positing. both the 'boost' parasite and aptoms cells are able to invade cells and analyse DNA. the question is, which is stronger? would aptoms cells win against the parasite or would the parasite cells win against aptom? what if aptom tried to absorb some parasite cells and the parasite ended up taking over him completely? that would be one dangerous, out of control mofo.1 point
