Personally, I think the reason might be a combination of 3 and 4. Thank you for this insight. this is very interesting. They have also been working on the giant prime figures for a long time. If the Mangaka had lost interest, he would not have worked on those statues. I have also heard in the past that Kadokawa are an awkward company to deal with. Perhaps this is a situation where Yoshiki Takaya is finding it difficult to work with them?
Bio-Boosted Dude
Maybe I'm just ignorant, but I can't see how the Prime figures would take him 3 years to sort out. Making them isn't his job. It looks like their molds were finished a long time ago and I can't imagine it taking more than a few months (if that) for him inspect the design, the sculpt and the paintwork, if he wishes to keep the producers on a tight leash for QA. While the release of such impressive pieces of Guyver merch is confusing, I don't think it has anything to do with the manga's release. Kadokawa are no more awkward than any other company. If anything, like most publishers, they will want more content to keep an established series alive. I have a feeling the problem lies more with Takaya than with his publisher. Then again, there's no real way of telling unfortunately... 28 minutes ago, Bio-Boosted Dude said: Maybe I'm just ignorant, but I can't see how the Prime figures would take him 3 years to sort out. I think Takaya's involvement on these figures is grossly over exaggerated. From what I understand, the creators pretty much leave most of the leg work to the manufacturers. So, yeah, I highly doubt he's been "busy" meticulously looking over the finer details of these statues. If he's got time to do that, his editors will wanna know where the next chapter is. All we can do is speculate, but unless he's literally directing a movie or some other massive project that has somehow remained a secret, I think he's probably just taking a creative "break" for a while... Guyver0
This is most likely the optimist in me talking, but maybe just maybe, the prolonged hiatus is him actually finishing up the series. Like actually planning out the rest of the story and then getting it done in one fell swoop instead of doing the month to month pace, which could have been a hindrance? I know I am being foolish, but all I have at this point is hope.

*guyverfan
You know......, i was just thinking the other day that perhaps the reason for the halt in publication could be due to the rights being bought out?, there could be a movie coming in a few years!? Unlikely. Shonen Ace still lists Guyver as one of their titles. And a movie or TV show planning would not have this long of a hiatus with no word. guyver4life
So I take it Yoshiki Takaya isn't on social media. I was just thinking there must be a way for the fans to reach him, an email or fan letters, just to ask him for an update. We aren't getting anything from Shonen Ace and its drips of information. If he's ill, if there are rights issues, if he's done with the series, whatever the reason we have to know. For fans not knowing is torture. Tora Tan
it's rude to pry too much. somebody spoke to somebody else who knows him personally and we ascertained that he is in talks with kadokawa and that is the best we're going to get. neozxtole
Man, it's sooooo long since I posted anything on this forum that I can't remember when that was. You know, us in this forum are probably some of THE most loyal fans of anything to be hanging on and keep checking on the status of this manga. This is my favorite manga of all time, but One-Punch Man has found a place right next to this one. If it's been three years since we last got a chapter, it is hard for me to believe it! I truly hope that we hear some good news this year and kudos to all for hanging in there with me.

Masamune
So, it's been over three years since the last chapter? No official update from the publisher or the mangaka? The best way of looking at it is no news is good news. If it had been cancelled, we would've heard by now. It could be that Takaya is burnt out, like Takehiko Inoue with the manga Vagabond (which has been on indefinite hiatus longer than Guyver). It would not hurt for someone to come out and explain the situation. I guess it's just not the Japanese way of doing things. At the end of the day, The Guyver is their intellectual property, and if they want to call it a day, we can't do anything about it. It would be a crying shame for all the people who are invested in the series, as the story deserves closure. Gazham
Rumour on the guyver world facebook group is that Takaya is back to work at the family dental practice and his assistant passed away, hence the advertised position a few years ago. It's al unconfirmed, but similar rumours keep popping up. Its still listed as a title in its usual magazine, so there's hope still.
mistajase
Wasn't there a couple chapters released after book 32? I'm at work and can't check, but here are the links to the threads when the raws were released. Dunno if the links still work though. If not, will see if I still have them when I get home: http://www.japan-legend.com/forums/topic/8535-february-chapter-guyver-2016-02-28/ http://www.japan-legend.com/forums/topic/8572-guyver-june-2016/ Unfortunately the translated chapters are still under the rules of the Guyver Advocacy Team and requires following their rules to access them. Kanji
Can anyone corroborate the statements made by a reddit user last month? https://www.reddit.com/r/Guyver/comments/bd5gjw/was_anyone_else_aware_that_guyver_is_over/ In it he says that the reason production halted was that Takaya's primary assistance passed away in 2016, who had become an integral part of story boarding and plot development. It almost sounds as though Takaya was no longer writing the story, but providing the art and character designs, a bit like a Buronson/Hara deal. If this is true, than it might explain why the series suddenly stopped, as mayble Takaya's has no idea where things were going with the story anymore. It's sad if this is true, but I'm kinda surprised they were never credited if that had this level of creative control.
TricoBren
I dunno man. I think there might be a lack of understanding when it comes to how manga is actually created. Takaya may well have had somebody else writing the story, or drawing the names for him, but when such a person isn't credited, it makes it all the more easier to replace them without drawing attention. If the series has been cancelled, his publisher would very likely announce the fact. If he is lacking some kind of creative direction regarding the story narrative, his assigned editor would help him with that. We know he was advertising for an assistant, but such adverts are 99% of the time for assistance in drawing backgrounds, clothes etc. I think, whatever the reason is, it's more than likely a personal one that has really snuffed out his desire to continue the story right now. I'm usually quite despondent when it comes to this thread, but his publishers obviously want to see it resume, and if there's any way they can help him along regarding creative assistance be it art or narrative, you can be sure they are doing what they can. I'm hopeful he'll back, but he obviously has other bigger fish to fry right now I guess....
