superpack Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 To me the OVA Guyver 1 vs Enzyme 1 fight is the most brutal, violent, hardcore, horrifying, bloody fight that I ever seen. It used to give me the creeps when I was young. I also once showed that episode to my younger brother who is not really interested in Anime and Guyver but, he liked Guyver after watching a few episodes of the OVA version back in the day. About 15 years ago I showed that fight to my younger brother and he was frightened. Reasons why I really like this fight and think it's the most brutal figth ever. First the transformation of Enzyme was scary as smegg. Second the look of Enzyme is just scary with that face it's just horror. Third Enzyme was not trained or have any experience in fighting because, it's not his job so, he just wanted to kill the Guyver in anyway using his anger which made the fight very sick. Fourth this fight is so different than the other fight's because, Genzo Makishima was so, angry at Sho and he took it personally because, Sho made him lose his job and was turned in a monster and he's not like the other Zoanoids who like to challenge Guyver and show their powers. He just wanted to really kill Guyver and he did. Fifth he was the most aggressive Zoanoid in the series at least for me. Sixth the battle was insane, blow for blow without too much talking. Enzyme injured Guyver's chest, guyver smegg's Enzyme's chest too. Guyver's cuttes Enzyme's hand, Enyzme also ripped Guyver's hand. The fight was out of control specially when Enzyme killed Guyver. The screaming at the end when Enzyme took his control medal was just crazy. I always wished that Guyver III would had helped Sho and killed Enzyme the most horrific way possible. 1 Quote
Shin Mefilas Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 To this day I have yet to come across much that can match this fights sheer brutality. The closest I ever got was Devilman vs Siren. Not even the infamous Violance Jack doesn't come close in terms of fighting violence. Kids these days say "watch this anime its hard core" I look, laugh and point them to Guyver vs Enzyme. Quote
Gazham Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 It's one of my favorite fights in the amine. The one that sticks in my mind is when sho first becomes the guyver and squares off with Gregory, then snaps both if his arms. Quote

Salkafar Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 It's especially amazing compared to how lame it was in the remake. They don't make 'em like they used to.... 1 Quote

You got that right. The remake was so awful and horrible, they just ruined Guyver and that stupid less than a second transformation, it really pissed me off how quickly they transform and not showing like how it was in the OVA. Damn how I wish the OVA series would still continue till this day. Everything about the OVA was sick, the soundtrack, voices, art work and how dramatic and dark it was. Quote
*PrimalNemesis Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I agree. I've yet to see a fight as brutal as this one. To be host it wasn't much of a fight, but rather a slaughter. Sho was butchered by Enzyme. Genzo Makashima died when he was processed into Enzyme. The only thing that remained was his hatred for the Guyver. This was personal. Sho didn't stand a chance because he was facing vengeance incarnate. That is why this scene is so brutal, and memorable. Quote
Cay Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Guyver was the first anime I've watched and it definitely was the only time I saw a hero getting brutally ripped apart like that when I was young. It definitely still gives me chills today especially when Sho is screaming in pain. There have been fights in other animes that were more bloody but it didn't give the same feeling of brutality as this since we were led to believe that Sho was going to die (for good) if the CM was removed from his forehead after we saw Guyver II's demise. After Sho's arm was bitten off, the fight went downhill for the guyver. Even as a child, I knew that the he was going to die in the fight but I also wanted him to somehow overcome it. I hoped but all I saw was that scene when Sho was coughing blood out of the guyver's exhausts followed by Enzyme's slow murderous walk towards the incapacitated guyver. Definitely agree that it is the most brutal. Quote
Lindsay Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I can't remember the last time I saw something as brutal as OVA Genzo's transformation, let alone the fight that follows. If the scene had been realised as is with live action and a moderate FX budget, it'd have been rated 18 for sure. Warhammer 40K has literature that far surpasses in terms of ultraviolence, but the franchise's on-screen action has mostly been cartoonish. Quote
BlackEpyon Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Next to the 1st fight between Kenshiro and Shin in the Hokuto No Ken movie. This has to be one of the most violent fights in anime history. 1 Quote
