It looks like they are going with the "CGI assisted" route with the animation, like they did with the movies... Which is ok I suppose. I dind't liek it all that much in the movies, but since they are probably stretching their budget a bit more on making a series, I am guessing the normal animation quality will suffer a bit.

And while the movies did skip some stuff, and as much as I want to see the Berserk armor in action... Once the black swordsman arc starts, there isn't really anything I'd want to really skip... Although maybe the whole "bug" arc, while Guts is basically alone, only with Puck... If they were wanting to start pushing the main storyline with his new companions, it'd be where it would need to start.

But I am hoping for as much as they can throw at us.

I actually just watched this trailer last night. It looks awkward to me but I might give it a shot.

Have you seen the 3 movies? If not, you should look them up ( they are online... in places). Not only are they good, but essential to the backstory.

That or read the manga... Which is also... Online... in places...

so its a series not another movie?

Correct. Seems like they were able to convince the studio to go series instead of movies... Which is fair, as the 3 Golden Age movies did fairly well. Enough to warrant more for sure, but obviously enough to commit more resources to.

I only saw one of those movies on Netflix. It was okay, but are they using that same style of animation. It looks like this animation was downgraded or something.

Yep, the animation is on pair with PlayStation 2 cutsceenes.

About the previous 3 movies, I was dissapointed that they skipped Wyald and some of Guts childhood. That censorship....

Yeah, unfortunately it is total garbage.

They are going the full CGI route that Knights of Sidonia did... and it looks horrible. Gut's proportions are way off, and the animation is much worse than CG stuff from 10 years ago.

Plus, like the movies, they are skipping arcs... Episode 2 already has him meeting Farnese... And episode 1 already had Isidoro...

Ugh. I had such high hopes.

With in between chapters of Berserk taking so long to come out, wouldn't you think that Miura was involved with the series?  Since Berserk is already decades old, it would be very difficult to have to start from chapter 1.  I actually don't mind the mash up of the story, as it help hasten the story to catch up with the latest arc, but the problem comes when it gets caught up with current chapters.  What I don't like is the animation style.  So stiff, and Gats looks so skinny.

well I m basing my comment on the first episode which is quite awful , its like barely decent the action scenes are so cringeworthy.

Anyway I m glad episode 2 is much better.

I was pretty disappointed they skipped the Lost Children arc cause it was IMO the point Berserk really hit it's stride.  I love Rosine, she's my fav Apostle cause she's the most interesting and best fleshed out of the Apostles.  Plus she's cute and sexy. ;) Her relationship with Jill was so heartbreaking.  I so wanted them to somehow get away and live happily ever after. :(  It was also a great episode for Guts since he came off as just as monstrous as Rosine in her full Apostle form as well as being one of the best fights of the entire manga.

It was also the point were we meet my fav supporting character Farnese, who has a great character arc (Farnese/Casca forever ;) ), BUT they smegged it up!  Well the first meeting anyway.  Guts was half-dead after the Rosine fight and that's why he was captured by the Holy Iron Chain Knights.  I so don't buy that the skeleton and demon tree fight left him that beat up.

Also Farnese has no nipples...

All that being said I'm still going to watch the series.  It isn't the Berserk anime I want but I'll take it.  I'm actually curious to see episode 3 since it looks like they're making some original content so maybe that'll be interesting.  I just hope the bluray version isn't censored.

Having not read the manga and watching it as a continuation of the earlier an ime,  it feels as there is something missing. It still has the same feeling of impending doom as the golden age did. I'm still enjoying it , I don't think  any newer animation will ever be as good as the early 90', but I'm interested to see where the story goes.
