Matt Bellamy Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 If I had to guess, I would say that this trailer is probably a bit of a misdirection. They really make it look like it's focused on Bucky/Winter Soldier... But we still haven't seen all the players yet... Like Martin Freeman's character, or even Ant-Man. My guess is that Bucky is/may be important (as an International War Crininal), but isn't the plot itself. I have to say though... The Black Panther suit looks pretty great. As does the new armors for both Stark and Rhodey. *Edit* Ok, Martin Freeman's character appears ever so briefly in one scene. But barely noticable if you're not going frame by frame. Quote
jerrygoodman Posted November 25, 2015 Author Posted November 25, 2015 We still haven't seen any sign of a certain friendly neighborhood web-head yet...but then again, this is only the "teaser" trailer.Me, I'm just glad to finally see a trailer. 1 Quote
DekaRed Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 some douche on another message board posted this exact clip, with brief snippets from amazing spiderman 2 crowbarred in, claiming it was real, lol. Quote

jerrygoodman Posted November 27, 2015 Author Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) So...who else felt like they got hit in the heart on that last line? Edited November 27, 2015 by jerrygoodman Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 So...who else felt like they got hit in the heart on that last line? I know I did... Iron man has always been my favorite character, even before the movies... And sure, he and Steve have not always seen 100% eye to eye, but they were friends... before Civil War in the comics anyway. Movie versions though, still had that bit of repitiore, and it did hurt to see Steve say something like that, even if we know that, if Tony were in a similar bind, he would do it for him too... but definitely in the contxt of the scene... yeah. Damn. Quote
jerrygoodman Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 Hey, where's Salkafar? I thought he'd have chimed in by now... Quote
DekaRed Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 he may be upset over iron man gettin a beat down... Quote
Salkafar Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Hello. Actually I was typing post yesterday but it got out of hand and I decided to cool down first. I wish they hadn't called it 'Civil War'. Quote
jerrygoodman Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) Any particular reason, other than it not being a direct adaptation?I mean, it's going to be noticeably different from the books (but then again, so was Winter Soldier), but it could still be one helluva movie. And besides, the Russo brothers are handling the reins on this, so I'm confident they can give us something amazing. My only hope is that they don't pull another Pietro on us. I don't know if I can handle that again. Edited November 28, 2015 by jerrygoodman Quote
jerrygoodman Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 And for the record...I'm purposely trying to avoid our usual "Steve versus Tony" talks...at least until after the movie comes out. Quote
Salkafar Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Any particular reason, other than it not being a direct adaptation? Comic Civil War was huge. It didn't just tear the comic book heroes into two factions, but the fandom as well. This can't. The scale can't be the same, because the cinematic universe is so much smaller. The 'Civil War' involved many factions, and hundreds of individuals, whose stories spanned decades. So why call this 'Civil War'? Quote
jerrygoodman Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) Well, maybe one film itself wouldn't have the same impact, but what about the rest of the MCU's continuity? I mean, surely the effects are gonna have some presence on MAOS and Marvel's Netflix series.Hell, I feel MAOS is already laying the groundwork for us, if President Ellis's speech in the season premiere was any indication...The fuse has already been set. Now all it takes is for someone to light a match. Edited November 28, 2015 by jerrygoodman Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 A synopsis has been released for Civil War: As well as a breakdown of the trailer, with comments by the Russo's Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War†finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. As well as a breakdown of the trailer, with comments by the Russo's... http://www.empireonline.com/movies/features/captain-america-civil-war-trailer-breakdown/ ...Which after all that reading, still seems like they are definitely changing aspects of it, but the core of Civil War is still there. But so far, there doesn't seem to be any villains joining either side... Which was a thing I hated in the comics. Quote
H222G981 Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I hope Captain America gives Tony an attitude adjustment. Quote
Salkafar Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Why do you presume it is Tony who needs the adjustment? Quote
jerrygoodman Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 UPDATE: Here's a bit of info regarding the Sokovia Accords...http://comicbook.com/2015/12/01/sokovia-accords-from-captain-america-civil-war-details-revealed/ Quote
*Jess♥ Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 it's a pretty intense issue that does reflect quite strongly on our times.it's part of the argument for or against surveillance or the control of the state.many people think the government is our protector and looks after us, keeps us safe, that everything they do is for the greater good.others are more distrusting and believe the government has our worst interests at heart.it's very deep seated issues of freedom versus safety etc. it goes to the core of our society and the things we are worried about a lot these days.I wish I could explain more elegantly, my brain is a bit slow right now. Salkafar Posted December 2, 2015 Posted December 2, 2015 Hmmm. In 'Agents of SHIELD' there is now nationwide paranoia in the USA because of the rapid emergence of Inhumans. But the movies ignore the TV shows so far... Quote
jerrygoodman Posted December 2, 2015 Author Posted December 2, 2015 Well, we do have a few months 'til the movie. That could all change. Quote
Salkafar Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) Kinda hoping. Season Three of 'Agents of SHIELD' is a lot better than the previous two seasons, so far. I guess they were told to 'commit or quit'. With an 'Inhumans' movie coming up they're going to have to do something... Edited December 3, 2015 by Salkafar Quote
jerrygoodman Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 I just had a terrible thought...what if, in the MCU, HYDRA used the Winter Soldier to engineer the deaths of Tony Stark's parents? Quote
Salkafar Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Actually I am pretty surprised they haven't retconned Stane into a HYDRA member. And responsible for their deaths. Mind you. The Winter Soldier being responsible for Tony's parents' death would be almost necessary for this movie. Quote
