Matt Bellamy
Looks to be VF-31 "Sigfried" vs Sv-26 "Draken III" with a group of idols this time.Though, apparently it was said that despite the VF-31's all being a different color and such, and the promo images have the idols with them, that the Idols are not piloting them.
durendal
Ooh, another incarnation of Marcoss. Good to know that Kawamori is still involved in this. Interesting that they spelled it Walkure. Could this be intentional or another one of their poor attempt at engrish?
Matt Bellamy
So! A preview episode was released! And it's!... kind of weird. So far, the opening plot seems to be 80% similar to Macross Frontier in terms of the characters themselves... I mean, it is just the first episode, but kind of sad how there is already a a clear "Alto" and "Ranka" character. Though, it likely possible that the second girl will be the pilot (in the eventual love triangle), who may be somehow related to a certain Macross character. The weird part is the Idols and how they are handling the fights... the Idols seem to be "Magical Girls", through technology and holograms, and jump around the battlefield and on top of the fighters, all while still singing... And control these "Multi Drones" that can project things and create shields to protect them or things/people. While the Valkyries themselves do any real fighting, and still support the Idols. It is an interesting concept, one that take some of the ideas from Frontier to the ultimate extreme... I can't foresee them being involved in EVERY fight though... Sometimes transforming jet fighters need to fight transforming jet fighters. Which, the Draken III's looked pretty cool... Seems like they stole the "Ejectable, but still able to shoot" armor pieces from Frontier, and jacked them up as well, seeing as they look to be boosters that become Ghost fighters. Still no transforming though, so we still don't know what they look like. Though, the music that Walkure has shown so far, isn't that bad. I want to hear more at least. So yeah. I guess we will now have to wait for "Spring 2016" for more. So March/April.
LordSpleach
I still have to watch The Original Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Macross Zero, Macross 7, and Macross Frontier first. Of course, I have already watched Macross Plus.
Salkafar
I have only watched SDF Macross so far and right now I am kind of up to my ears in this - Having watched MS Gundam 78 I was pretty surprised at the relative shamelessness of Macross. Civilian teenager forced into role of badass combat pilot amidst deeply involved crew, home-like mothership of uncommon but highly advanced design, emotional plotlines, main characters dying unexpectedly, flying mecha in space, massive-scale space battles, Earth being mostly depopulated - there's even a girl character whose song wins battles. LordSpleach
That's is kind of true. The way I heard Macross was started as a kind of parody but became something of it's own thing. However, Gundam never did embrace the J-Pop like I know Macross has, and Macross never truly spun off multiple timelines like Gundam did. And Gundam never made their own version of Top Gun starting Bryan Cranston of Malcolm in the Middle/Breaking Bad fame.
Sully
For me at the moment it is between "Macross 7: OMG this is too strange" vs "Macross Frontier: I wish I was as good as the first Macross series".

durendal
I definitely loved the songs in Macross Delta. Definitely better than Frontier for me. But nothing tops the original Macross. I still get chills every time I watch it. Oh, the Character development and the love triangle!! It's like watching a Korean Drama. Definitely way ahead of its time.
