Guyver1 Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Hello all, I just thought I would shamelessly plug the comic I created and draw. It's called The Maniacal Smile. Kind of like South Park meets The Tick. If you have the chance, check it out @ www.fiercecomics.com. If you think monkeys, tapeworms or a hero fighting his way out of a dolphin orgy are funny, you'd love the book! Some pics below. Thanks for checking it out. -Guyver 1 3 Quote

Guyver1 Posted June 17, 2016 Author Posted June 17, 2016 Hey guys! Just thought I would share some news. After about a year and a half hiatus from production of my comic, The Maniacal Smile, I am getting back to work! The writer of the book stalled on us for over a year dragging releases down to nothing. He then quit after he disagreed with our publisher on how to move forward. Check out the promo art below I finished last night. We already have the next 5 issues written as I am taking over writing duties along with already doing all of the art. I am super excited to get back to work and sling the Smile to the masses! 2 Quote

ROUGE Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Very neat. That spikey black haired guy looks a little like Shobu, or his father from Duel Masters. 1 Quote

Thanks so much! I sincerely appreciate it! MANY late nights ahead but they are all worth it! It's crazy how productive and motivated our publishing team is now that the source of so much delay is gone. As I get more I will surely post. I appreciate you guys checking it out! Quote
Guyver1 Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 Hello all! So, after our extended break I previously spoke of we are back to work! The next 5 issues are written and I am on art for it now. Below is the cover to issue 8, coming in October! 1 Quote
Guyver1 Posted August 9, 2016 Author Posted August 9, 2016 All 22 pages are penciled, and 3 are inked. Will be working on inking and coloring all of the pages for this issue over the next few weeks. Then it's off to the letterer and finally to be published in October! Quote
ROUGE Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) I just have to ask. Is this something you like doing in your spare time? How long have you been working on this comic. I didn't even realize it was published until now. Must have missed that part, should probably start wearing my reading glasses more often lol. That's great, good for you man. I used to have adequate drawing skills but sadly they seemed to have diminished over time. Edited August 10, 2016 by Edo Phoenix Quote
Guyver1 Posted August 10, 2016 Author Posted August 10, 2016 This is my second job. It doesn't make enough for me to pay my bills, but it does kind of fund itself off of its sales. I have been doing this book since high school... about 18 years. (I feel soooooo old) Started small with black and white books and colored cover with markers... but over time I self published enough to get the attention of an Indy publisher and they picked it up. On issue 8 now (actually the 9th published with Fierce) and since they picked the book up, there has been a board game made, multiple comics/trades, apparel... even a small appearance in a video game for Xbox 360. Check out www.fiercecomics.com if you get the chance. I went through a rough patch with it over the past year or so with issues with the writer I had on it so my drawing went down to nothing... BUT now I am back to it every day. I pencil, ink and color each issue. So I have to see each page 3 times. Takes about 2-3 months per issue to get done. I may never be famous, but I am doing what I love and have some really cool readers and fans. All I truly want is for an action figure to be made. Oh the prestige!! The envy of all the kids on my block!! One day... You should totally get back to it Edo!! Practice and repetition are the key. It's great to let out your creativity! Thanks for checking this all out Quote
Guyver1 Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 (edited) I just finished coloring page 2 to issue 8. Check it out! I am coloring the first 5 pages this week, then inking 6-10 next, then coloring them and so on until the book is done! Whew... lots of work! Edited August 17, 2016 by Guyver1 Wrong file. Quote
Guyver1 Posted September 26, 2016 Author Posted September 26, 2016 So a quick update on my book... I have fully completed all 22 pages of inks on the comic and have 8 pages left to color. The book will be completely done by the end of this weekend and then off to the printer and all for distribution! I then have a 5 page story to draw for another book in our publishing line and then a nice 2 week breather before I begin the process all over to get issue 9 completed by late Jan/Early Feb. If anyone is interested in checking it out, go to the newly revamped www.fiercecomics.com Thanks all!! - Guyver1 Quote

Guyver1 Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 Hey guys! Just a quick update... Issue 8 was completed and published on time in October. We did the Tampa Bay Megacon and we had a lot of repeat and new readers pick up the books. Issue 9 is in the penciling stages now to be released in February 2017 and I am almost done writing issue 14 now! Productivity is a sweet, sweet smell! Quote

ROUGE Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I can't believe you have so many issues. You must be doing fantastic! Your art style is truly impressive. It sort of reminded me of The Fairly Odd Parents cartoon when I saw the cover of issue #9, that red guy looked a little bit like The Crimson Chin lol. Quote

Yeah, I have a LOT of influences in my art and characters. The red guy is Quadriplegic Man, he is Smiley's uncle and a genius. Smiley's feet are big like the Maxx and I like to say the book is like South Park meets The Tick. I appreciate you checking it out!! 1 Quote
