odin Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) well with wizard already beyond the halfway of the series it is time for rumors of the next rider series and the first batch of rumors has already arrived, two images have surfaced with the possible design of this next rider with 2 names, first is Kamen Rider Break who has a helmet design similar to Iron Man and the other one is Kamen Rider Succeed who looks a lot like a mix of the hero Casshern and kamen Rider Ichigo which I like a lot and makes me wish they would go back to their roots and make the first Cyborg Heisei Rider, I will leave a quote of the details of both rumors below with the images attached, thoughts and opinions are welcomed. quote found via Jefusion via Rising sun Tokusatsu It's now time of the year where we will get rumors for the 2013 Kamen Rider series. There are two current rumors circulating within Japanese internet communities. One is called Kamen Rider Succeed, while the other is Kamen Rider Break. Let's check them out below: Please take these rumors with a grain of salt!Kamen Rider Break is said to have circular things around the joints and ears. Its base color is yellow and design seems to resembles that of Iron Man and Kamen Rider Eternal. A sketch (right) was made based on the description.Meanwhile, Kamen Rider Succeed will be a college agricultural and biotech student. The series' lead female character would be a flower shop assistant and there would be a giant robot called Plantroid. The title would be a pun on the saku, which means “to slice,†and seed.Previous rumors for Succeed (which seems to be different from the current ones) states that the helmet had a crown design, the crown is "cracked", coloring red and silver. The rider's name seems to come from the act of "succeeding to the throne."It is just a matter of time before we can get confirmed information on the new Kamen Rider's name. Kamen Rider OOO's trademark was revealed on May 29th, 2010; Kamen Rider Fourze's on May 19th, 2011; and, Kamen Rider Wizard's on June 21st, 2012. Edited October 6, 2013 by odin Quote
*Jess♥ Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 this time of year makes me sad. I want to get excited about a new series but past instalments have been utter let downs. (understatement) that said, I really love the drawings that have been shown. those look like some beautiful designs. this leads me to believe that they are utterly wrong. I'll wait with baited breath for the real designs that look like hoover attachments. Quote
*Mehy Posted June 8, 2013 Posted June 8, 2013 I think its like, the concept guys come up with some really great stuff and just go crazy but by the time the suit designers and the toy designers have their way, we end up with a neutered version of the original concept. I like what I see here, it reminds me of Kamen Rider Another Agito. Quote
odin Posted June 8, 2013 Author Posted June 8, 2013 I have been reading some news on the rumors and supposedly the Kamen Rider Break rumor says that this rider is supposed to be a breakdancer , weird but it would fit nicely side to side with Kyoryuger like Fourze did with Gokaiger. Quote
odin Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 well, I just saw a confirmation about this new Kamen Rider, it's name has finally been registered and it is Kamen Rider Gaimu, here is a quote from jefusion via henshin justice After all the rumors we had in the past week, TOEI had finally registered the copyright and trademark for the 2013-2014 Kamen Rider series. He will be called KAMEN RIDER GAIMU. It will also be having the kanji éŽ§æ¦ for Armored Warrior/Armored Martial Arts. now lets speculate on what exactly the theme and costume will be. Quote
odin Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 here is a photo which is rumored to be filming set for Kamen Rider Gaimu, if this indeed how he looks like in the back then he looks like a samurai. your thoughts and opinions are welcomed. Also, since the name has already been confirmed can a mod please change the topic's name to Kamen Rider Gaimu? Quote
*Jess♥ Posted June 29, 2013 Posted June 29, 2013 topic starter should be able to change the topic title. i'll change it for you. Quote
odin Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) topic starter should be able to change the topic title. i'll change it for you. it does not give me the option, maybe it is the skin I am using? dunno. EDIT: nevermind, I had to use the full editor mode, lol...thanks anyways ryuki. Edited June 30, 2013 by odin Quote
*Jess♥ Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 seems to suit the name. his shoulders and head look a little big. I should stop commenting on these designs. it seems a given that I'm gonna hate each new design at this stage. to be fair though.... his thighs look interesting. it looks like a spiky sort of chainmail. Quote
Aether Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 i like the look of this. i dont know why but i like it when the Toku do 'Japanesy' type things ie SamuraI and Ninja . it seems to work that little bit better. sothis could be a promising choice... Quote
odin Posted July 23, 2013 Author Posted July 23, 2013 and so it begins, here is the real reveal of Kamen Raider Gaimu's design, like or dislike? Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 23, 2013 Posted July 23, 2013 I have to give them credit for making a design that is a little more interesting that we have had recently. it looks a bit awkward in some ways, a bit clunky and disjointed, but it remains to be seen how that works in action. the aesthetics of his 'face' is definitely more worthy than what we have had lately. the chest piece does look very awkward with the shoulder pads sort of floating out the side like that. I don't totally hate it. thing is, with Kamen Rider being so atrocious lately, it doesn't matter much what the design is like. well at least I can take it somewhat seriously since it appears they have done some work on the costume design. it bodes well. but the design is really only secondary to what has been of late, fairly atrocious story telling. If they can pull their finger out and actually give Kamen Rider it's due... then it could be a decent series. who am I kidding, kamen rider has become less of an entertainment show and more of a toy commercial. They aren't gonna back track on that are they? I'm sure it wasn't the case when we were watching ryuki or kabuto etc. I seem to remember their focus was on the story rather than the 'toys'. am I right or have I misunderstood? What do you think, could this be different? Quote
odin Posted July 23, 2013 Author Posted July 23, 2013 I certainly hope you are wrong, I actually enjoyed Fourze cause it had an interesting premise and story even tho the costume design was lacking a bit but wizard did a whole 180 with me, the costume looks amazing but the story, character development and most importantly in a rider series the supporting characters AND villains have been all extremely bland and I can't forgive that with the villains, a hero is only as good as the villains and they are not threatening in the least, wizard just goes infinity style and it is already game over....ugh...i don't want to go off topic so I will continue my thoughts about Gaimu, it looks interesting to say the least, we have not gotten a Samurai themed Rider so maybe this one will be a bit more serious, it all depends on who will write this series. Quote
odin Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 (edited) now here is something interesting, according to sites like Jefusion there is a rumor that this series will have 5 riders instead of the traditional 2, very unexpected...the red and silver one is rumored to be called kamen rider Baron and Gaimu's name has been romanized to Gaim, here is a poster showing all 5 supposed riders. Edit: it is confirmed, there are 5 riders, the names so far are Gaim (main one), Baron (red one) and Ryugen who I don't know who is. Edited July 25, 2013 by odin Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 that picture makes me feel positive. I don't know what the series will be like but I am getting a good vibe. makes me think of kabuto. one thing I'm unsure about, what do you think about how bright the colours are? do you think they are too bright, maybe they would look better more muted? Quote
odin Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 (edited) they are heroes so it would make sense if their colors where bright to give that positive feel, it is not always the case but considering that their theme seems to revolve around fruit I would say that the colors where spot on, not feeling comfortable with Baron tho, his design just feels lackluster. here is a synopsis of the story as well as the casting choices and additional details: Along with the cast list of the 15th Heisei Kamen Rider series, KAMEN RIDER GAIM, here are some additional details for the new Kamen Rider. Introduced in today's press event are five individual Kamen Riders. The setting is a emerging city apparently controlled by a corporate giant. Bored kids uses street dance to pass time. They also use small monsters called Inbess, which came from another dimension and hold secret battles. But there are risks in using these as larger holes became a passage for larger and powerful monsters to get to our world. To fight these Kamen Rider Gaim will stand up as a hero for justice! Using the Sengoku Driver which cuts the Lock Seed and opening a small hole to this other world, the user can transform to one of these: Kamen Rider Gaim, who uses the "Orange Lock Seed" and the "Pineapple Lock Seed" to summon "Orange Arms" and "Pineapple Arms", Baron, a Western Armor motif and uses the Banana theme; the Chinese Armor motif Ryugen who uses Grapes, Griton who uses Coconut, and Zangetsu who uses Melon.Kamen Rider Gaim is Kota Sakuraba, the 2nd dancer for "Team Gaim" but eventually stopped playing the game and left to look for a job, and protect his lonely sister. He's a nice guy, and "protecting people" is his very reason in fighting. He accidentally found the Sengoku Driver. His catchphrase: “Passing through the audience, On Stage!†Kamen Rider Baron is Kaito Kumon, the leader of "Team Baron", Team Gaim's rival. Growing up as a poor guy, he always believed that the weak warriors are exploited. He is now hungry for power.Kamen Rider Ryugen is Mitsuzane Kuwashima, a member of Team Gaim and Kota sees him as his younger brother. Though he kept this as a secret, in reality, he is the son of the leader of the Yggdrasil Corporation and attends an elite high school. He wants to live freely won't accept the path established for him. An aspiring pro dancer and a childhood friend of Kota, Mai Takatsukasa takes care of all of the members of Team Gaim. Though he thinks of Kota as her rival, she actually adores him.Kamen Rider Zangetsu is Takatora Kureshima, Mitsuzane's older brother and holds a high position at the Yggdrasil Corporation. Although he is a ruthless realist, he still loves his family and spoils his younger brother. His catchphrase is “Authorized by divine providence!â€Other members of Team Gaim are: Chucky the top-level dancer, the easy-going and not so good dancer Rika, and the team's mood maker, Rat. Meanwhile, other members of Team Baron are the loyal and trustworthy Zach, who's the 2nd-in-command, and Peko who plots to win at Inbess Games in a makeshift fashion. Supporting cast includes Kota's sister Akira Kazuraba who works as an office worker at a subsidiary of Yggdrasil, and Kiyojiro Bando, the owner of a fruit parlor "Droopers". Team Gaim are regular customers at Kiyojiro's Droopers. As always, there are mysterious characters in the show. Sid, the Lock Dealer, who sells Lock Seeds to young guys to facilitate their Inbess Games. Definitely having a motive behind all of this, no one really knows where he gets them. Lastly, there's pirate radio DJ Sagara who incites the excitement in joining Inbess Games, and making it fashionable. To premiere on October 6th, Kamen Rider Gaim will be directed by Ryuta Tasaki (Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger) and and Takayuki Shibasaki, with scripts from Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet). The show was produced by Motoi Sasaki (TV Asahi) and Naomi Takebe (Toei). Shounan no Kaze will be singing the main theme. here is a better picture of the 5 riders with their names from left to right Kamen Rider Griton, Kamen Rider Baron, Kamen Rider Gaimu, Kamen Rider Ryugen and finally Kamen Rider Zangetsu Edited July 25, 2013 by odin Quote
*PrimalNemesis Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 So let me get this straight. The new Kamen Riders are gonna be these samurai type warriors whose powers are going to be fruit based? Pardon me for being pessimistic, but it seems like Toei is close to running out of ideas here folks. I will give this series a chance, but it really is not doing much for me at the moment. Who knows. It might be one of those oddities that sticks to me. We shall see. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 you make a good point. the emphasis in the fruit does make me feel that this is fairly juvenile. which is pretty much the way they have been going recently. it's probably because of the time slot. but aside from that... I mean many adults may watch at this time slot... aside from that it seems their core demographic has changed. I think perhaps 10 years ago, their core demographic seems to be maybe from ages 10 up to 20. now it appears their core demographic is more like ages 5 up to 15. it appears that tokusatsu is no longer about entertaining teenagers and young adults, it's more about entertaining children. yeah.. I'm not a child. that's probably why I don't watch power rangers and why I don't feel like watching tokusatsu these days. at least akibaranger did some good for us nevertheless, I am still going to give Gaim a chance because the aesthetics may not be so much of an issue if the story and characters are reasonably mature. *Jess♥ Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 it appears that tokusatsu is no longer about entertaining teenagers and young adults, it's more about entertaining children. yeah.. I'm not a child. that's probably why I don't watch power rangers and why I don't feel like watching tokusatsu these days. at least akibaranger did some good for us wow, I just realised something. Akibaranger seems to be communicating this very issue. the danger of the death of tokusatsu and otaku due to various other things such as fashion etc. could it be that this is a real issue in japan? that the people who used to watch tokusatsu into their twenties and thirties are no longer taking an interest in otaku things and are instead spending their money on fashion etc? sorry, this is way off topic. if you think this is something that could be discussed more then let me know and I'll split this post into a new topic. Purgstall Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 I think the discussion about the decline of tokusatsu merits it's own thread. I do like the multiple Riders thing, so that's one thing Gaim/Gaimu is doing right. Before everybody goes, "This series is running out of ideas!", need I remind everybody that Den-O has a time-traveling, peach-themed genie possessing somebody and turning into a train-themed superhero and fighting other time traveling genies? Now, doesn't that sound a little ridiculous to you guys?I'll be honest and admit that Gaimu/Gaim and it's Fruit Samurais doesn't really excite me either, but I plan on watching a couple of episodes before I make a judgment call. Quote
odin Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 The writer of this series is the one who wrote Akibaranger so we may get a more mature theme than it lets on, maybe.. Quote
odin Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 I just checked and you are correct, it is being directed, My bad. XD Quote
Aether Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 i hope the action is as good as akiba rangers... as for melons and other fruits in this new KR, well ive pretty much become numb to crazy and zany ways for these tokkusatsu guys to henshin... i mean after seeing kyoryugers dance to samba anything goes!! as for 4 Kamen Riders is this not overkill?, is this just not ''Fruity Sentai Kamen Rider'' ? i like the look of most of them. some of the colours are overkill but having said that the brown armour looks drab, so... all this being said though i must say i get a good vibe from the poster that Odin put in post 14. sorry, this is way off topic. if you think this is something that could be discussed more then let me know and I'll split this post into a new topic. I think the discussion about the decline of tokusatsu merits it's own thread. yeah i think we could rant a bit on this topic! Quote
*Jess♥ Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 ok, I made a new thread on that subject. is-akibaranger-a-metaphor-for-real-life-decline-of-tokusatsu yes it is like a super sentai. 5 of them and different colours. but these are not a team, they are opposing each other, aren't they? it's sort of like kamen rider ryuki in that respect. using fruit to henshin, well that aint a bad theme, but what worried me was how much his sword resembles the fruit. I mean, before the fruit theme was mentioned, I looked at his sword and thought it looked a bit like a fruit segment. maybe a bit too bold. who knows. Quote
