Mirabilis Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 (edited) Well I was reading on some of the stuff on my "Ideal Anime" and I wanted to post this before I told any of yall ( Yes I said "Yall" I need to work on my Texas accent) about my current writing project which is based off of an anime. Plus I was curious *blew my spelling sucks right now * as to what you all would personally reccomend and see what feedback yall give. My favorite anime shows were: (not in any order besides guyver thats my number one favorite show) 1.Guyver (of course) 2.Gundam Wing (the best one of all, they should of left off all of the gundam series after this one and not make anymore sequels but prequel series instead) 3.Monster Rancher 4.Digimon (the first two series) 5.Pokemon (the first series) 6.Dragonball Z (though some people dont consider it a anime) 7.Trigun 8.TenshiMuyo (I dont know if I spelled it right, its been too long since ive seen it) 9.RoroniKenshin (Same here as above not sure if its spelled right been too long) 10. And Zoids (new century zero, and chaotic century) I want to see the Hellsing series and maybe the Street fighters series. I was told they were awesome by some, others told me they were alright, i dont know, what do yall think? Edited December 28, 2008 by Mirabilis Quote

I was told they were awesome by some, others told me they were alright, i dont know, what do yall think? Gundam Wing isn't the best Gundam Series, but it's definitely one of the best in the series. The best is either MSG or Zeta Gundam. And how in God's name is DBZ not an anime? You would have to be stupid not to consider it an anime. Hell, it's one of the few anime series that made anime well known to the mainstream audience. To not consider it an anime is like calling John Carpenter's The Thing a musical comedy. Here are my faves that I can think of (no specific order): 1. Mobile Suit Gundam 2. Zeta Gundam 3. Zoids (New Century Zero, Chaotic Century and Guardian Force) 4. Guyver 5. Neon Genesis Evangelion 6. Ghost in the Shell 7. Akira 8. G Gundam 9. Cowboy Bebop 10. Outlaw Star 11. Digimon (first two seasons) 12. Trigun 13. Big O (It's Showtime! XD) 14. Blue Gender 15. FLCL 16. Death Note 17. Full Metal Alchemist 18. Yu Yu Hakusho Quote

To not consider it an anime is like calling John Carpenter's The Thing a musical comedy. I am not really sure, I just know that my friend that was in a high school anime club told me, the club was talking about anime shows and he said he liked DBZ, and alot of people were yelling at him saying its not a anime show. I have no idea why they would say that but thats what I meant by that when i said some people dont think it is an anime show. I think its one of the best ones out there. But I forgot all about Blue Gender! I want to see that show soooo bad. I've never seen it but the preview for it was just amazing. Outlaw Star was pretty cool, but I just wasnt found of it that much...not really sure why either. And I do like Ghost in a Shell, but I havent seen enough episodes to be able to say its one of my fav's. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Pretty nice titles that you've both mentioned. Mirabilis, for the Street Fighter series....are you talking about 'Street Fighter II V", "Street Fighter Alpha" or "Street Fighter Generations"? As for the Hellsing series, dude, go for the "Hellsing Ultimate" series as it's the only anime version that totally faithful to the manga and it so f***in rocks. There are currently 4 DVD volumes of this series with volume 4 just rescently being released in English. As for my favorite series (in no particualr order): Guyver Ruruoni Kenshin Ronin Warriors (Samurai Troopers) Pocket Monsters (not Pokemon. I only prefer the Japanese version of the series) Digimon (Season 1 and Season 5 - Digimon Savers) Outlaw Star Gundam Wing Gundam X G Gundam Gundam 8th MS Team Gundam 00 Hellsing ultimate Ghost Hunt DB-Z-GT Blue Seed Zoids (all but the Fuzors series) Full Metal Alchemist Full Metal Panic! (All 3 series) Witchblade Tekkaman Blade (both series) Maburaho Tenjho Tenge SHUFFLE! Ikkitousen (all 3 series) The Soultaker Princess Mononoke Spirited Away The Slayers (all series) Claymore D.Gray-Man Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (both series) Nagasarete Airantou Rosario + Vampire (both seasons.....though I love the manga even more) Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st Series (this one was fan-subbed by TVN. A great series) Powerpuff Girls Z Samurai Pizza Cats Genshiken Busou Renkin Tenchi Muyo (1st and last series only. I didn't care for the 'Universe' or 'In Tokyo' series) They Are My Noble Masters Neon Genesis Evangelion Mai Otome Karin Inukami! BALDRE FORCE EXE Juusoukikou Dancouga Nova Zombie-Loan School Days Kaze no Stigma Bleach Negima (all series) Naruto Naruto Shippuuden that's it for now. I've seen more than just these but these are my absolute favorite anime series. Quote
Mirabilis Posted December 28, 2008 Author Posted December 28, 2008 Iam not really sure which SF show, I thought there was just a movie and a short series. Unfortunately I dont know which one my friend was talking about but whatever you reccomend will probably do just fine. You mentioned some that I liked (but couldnt spell it properly) I cant believe that I forgot all about Yu-gi-Oh. I liked it up to the Dragon series or whatever it was called. I cant remember what that series is called and I didnt get to see all of it goes I lost cable at that time, but I remember Yu-Gi, Joey, and Kiba got legendary dragons. I also liked "Princess Mononoke, but I didnt list it because I knew it was a movie and not a show, but I love it non the less I also liked Ronin Warriors though I cant remember much about it, i was very little when it came out. Toku Warrior Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 There are actually 4 series in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. There's the first one known as "Yu-Gi-Oh! 1st Series" which is 27 episodes long and has one movie. This series is more related to the earlier parts of the Manga and was never picked up by any English anime distributer as it is much darker than any other Yu-Gi-Oh! series. The second one is the first series of Yu-Gi-Oh! that was dubbed and released in English. I don't know how many episodes these last 3 series have but this second series had a total of 1 movie (which was about the Pyramid of Light, Anubis and the Blue Eyes Shinning Dragon) and 2 OVA's (or you could count it as another movie) which were about the Capsule Monsters game which was both seen in the original manga and in the very first series. The third series is "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX". I don't know the actual number of episodes and I'm not sure if there was any movies and/or OVA's made for this one. This series was based around a new main character named Jaden. It's main theme was based around a school that taught people all the skills they'd need to be the best duelists. There is a serialized manga for this series which is released by Shonen Jump. The final series is called "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5 D's". I don't really care for this one thought I will say that some of the graphics for this series are really cool. I don't know the episode length nor any movie and/or OVA info on this one. This series is currently airing in English as it was just rescently picked up for English distribution. This series is based around Neo Domino City and a new way of dueling using high-tech motor cycles...though the old traditional way with a duel disc can be seen once every so often. Now as for the SF series. SF II V was decent. It's a 24+ episode series which follows Ken, Ryuu and Chun Li. SF Alpha is a more polished anime style version though I have yet to see this series, only pictures. SF Alpha Generations was actually a movie based around Ryuu fighting the Dakr Hadou within himself and a few other things here and there. Nothing special about this one. Quote

RazorLaser Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Transformers G1 & Beast Wars indeed. Dinosaucers also Quote
Mirabilis Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Is that one the one show that was aired om the late 90's early 2000's where they were dinsaurs that turned into robotic aliens, and one of the bad guys was a chinese dragon? I remember that show like it was yesterday but I cant remember its name for the life of me. I even had the toy of the chinese dragon guy, and I am not talking about beast wars, cause I deffinately remember that show. No, this show was in a way like Beast Wars, but it wasnt that show. Quote
Toku Warrior Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 No. Dinosaucers was a show from the mid to late 80's and early 90's about two groups of aline dinosaurs-lik ebeings that walked around bipedal style. They even had the ability to revert to their original Dinosaur forms when they wanted to. Quote
Mirabilis Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 Oh, I wonder what show I am thinking of then... Quote
*BananaKing Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 What about exo-squad? Was that considered anime? Quote
LordSpleach Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 BK, Exo-Squad is American, but still a good show. Quote

Toku Warrior Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I also like Hellsing. Of course, I really prefer the Ultimate Series version. That one is just so damn bloody. I just purchased vol.4 of the ultimate series and I was loving how Alucard was toying with Rip Van Winkle before killing her . It was almost as bloody as vol.3. Quote
*BananaKing Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I heard there is only one more video which means they'll most likely not be finishing the series. Anyone like yugioh? I used to love that show Quote
Archangel Ashes Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I am confused how DBZ is not an anime. I agree its one of the animes that made anime boom. DBZ should be respected as one of the greatest series or at least a legend. My favorites are... Anything Gundam (except for both of the terrible Seed series and SD Gundam) Hellsing (both Ultimate and regular) DBZ Gurren Lagann (the most epic series ever!) Karas Fooly Cooly (fooly cooly, you do it like this) Evangelion Cyborg 009 Zoids (Chaotic and Zero. Genesis was meh) Casshern Sins Trigun Cowboy Bebop Rurouni Kenshin Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust (even though its a movie its great!) Kikaider Samurai 7 Shin-Chan .hack//sign Guyver Wolf's Rain Outlaw Star Big O Reign the Conqueror Fullmetal Alchemist Rave Master Digimon (season 1 and 2) Pokemon (up until the end of johto) Akira (same as D) Samurai Champloo Soul Eater Quote
Larz Zahn Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 my friend has me watching king gainer.. its one of those anime where you dotn really know why your watching it, yet you cant stop.. Quote
Archangel Ashes Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 i forgot s-cry-ED and Case Closed. They were awesome too. Quote
Renegade Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) DBZ (Come on, admit it) BERSERK (You must watch the anime and read the manga no matter what) Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Ore Wo Dareda Omote Yagaru!) Yu Yu Hakusho Rurouni Kenshin (HITEN MITSURYUGI RYU...Oro?) Big O (Show Time!) Fullmetal Alchemist (The manga is even better!) Hokuto no Ken (YOU WA SHOCK!!!) Mobile Suit Gundam 8th MS Team Gundam 00 (It's my favorite of Gundam series) Grappler Baki (He beat a 10 foot gorilla to death with his bare-hands...AND THE GORILLA EATS BEARS!) FLCL (What's not to quote?) S-CRY-ED (I just really like it ok!) Android Kikaider (I finally found the soundtrack!) Blade of the Immortal (WHY WON'T ANYONE SUB IT!) Samurai Champloo (Good for its length.) Outlaw Star (S'aright) Trigun the anime was terrible, so was Hellsing though Hellsing Ultimate is great. Soul Eater is annoyingly slow but entertaining, as good as Busou Renkin I'd say. Gundam Seed suffers from androgynous protagonist syndrome. Oh, and Inuyasha is crap.
