PowerofGuyver Posted May 28, 2019 Posted May 28, 2019 For example the Guyver wiki lacks the info of Guyver III having attained Gigantic Exceed, so it doesn't appear to be up to date. Quote
Bio-Boosted Dude Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 I imagine that's run by people completely separate from this place so maybe they don't have access to the chapters in which that occured? Although my timeline of the series is starting to get pretty foggy to be honest. The JL Wiki was pretty up to date and accurate as it also had information from the Japanese Guyver wikipedia page, but unfortunately the database got corrupted years ago. Quote
Tora Tan Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 i'm pretty sure it's all accessible via the wayback machine. Quote
Masamune Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 A good wikia needs to be continually updated and regulated. I've managed a few and it's frustrating when fans come along and editorialize entries and write like pre-schoolers. Quote
Matt Bellamy Posted May 29, 2019 Posted May 29, 2019 We had one, but unfortunately it was nuked when the old management left. Restarting it has been a task deemed far too much work, but little drive to create at this point. We try and get to every question we can here at a hopefully decent turnaround, but other than that the existing wiki's are the best that is out there. Quote
Tora Tan Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 That seems a bit spiteful, why did they do that? Quote
PowerofGuyver Posted May 30, 2019 Author Posted May 30, 2019 I mean, could someone go and update the Guyver wiki? I'm not requesting that, I'm just thinking out loud. Quote
Salkafar Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 I'll just leave this here. Anyone of us who wants can go there and spend a few minutes fiddling with whatever they deem worthwhile. https://guyver.fandom.com/wiki/Guyver_Wiki Quote

But with Wiki's, there is always a chance that your entry can be edited/changed and/or you changed something that someone else wrote and they or you are not happy about it. That's why the original one here was more submission based I believe. Changes had to be approved by admin before being uploaded. It can be a lot of work for something that might just disappear seemingly randomly. Quote
*Jess♥ Posted May 30, 2019 Posted May 30, 2019 Excuse me, it sounds like you're suggesting i caused damage to the site when i left. I did nothing of the sort, I handed the site in it's entirety to Brian. The wiki had been vandalised by advertising bots and Brian tried for a long time to save it before in the end giving up and deciding to rebuild. I would appreciate it if you didn't say things like that about me. Also, I gave the site to Brian because of stress. It would be nice if you didn't make me sound like a crazy person. Quote

For example the Dark Gigantic Exceed, we know it exists because of the manga, someone posted a picture of it. Could that be a citation, just s page number of the volume? No one could deny it. Quote
durendal Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 Not to sound like a prude or anything, but I contributed to almost 90% of the content in the late wiki, even laid out the foundations of it yet you don't see me complain about it being lost. I should be the one most upset about it being gone seeing how much time and energy I put into it. But well, that's life. If you can't get past something so trivial as that, it'll be very hard to do so in the real world. To be fair with Jess, she did try all sorts of things to salvage all the content. However, the damage was too severe for it to have any use. If you're going to ask me to do it again, I am willing, but unfortunately, I no longer have the time or energy for those sort of things. I'm not getting any younger you know..... 2 Quote
Larz Zahn Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 thats what i like about you durendal. always so chill... i seriously cant recall you ever getting upset. so here's a big question... i was on hiatus for a while getting my own crap together, i noticed the change in the website and always meant to ask about it, but never found the time or proper setting for it. plus i didnt know if it was a sensitive subject better left alone. but if no one minds me asking, what happened? i noticed a lot of changes and some content gone, like the vdf and the wiki. not that i blame anyone, i got mad respect for the advocacy for all they work they did. i understand that change is a constant of the universe and its impossible to avoid. i couldnt do half or even a 10th of the contributions of what they provided, nor have the patience to put up with running (what i assume to be a complex) website managing several things at once like jess did. (sorry but you are and forever will be Ryuki to me) a lot had changed while i was away a few years back. Quote
Tora Tan Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 She said she gave the site to Brian because of stress. I understand she ran the site for a very long time, so I can understand that. Which one is Brian, I'm sorry I don't know everyone's names. From what I've seen this site is part of Warriorguyver website now, and all the separate websites have been added into the same domain as archives or sub-sites or something. You can see them all if you go to Warriorguyver.com. I'm not sure what the old wiki was like, but I think it got vandalized. you can see a lot of it on the wayback machine. Quote
Gazham Posted June 8, 2019 Posted June 8, 2019 Brian is Sully, the hero that keeps this all running for us. 3 Quote

Sorry for any miss communication here, nothing like that was meant towards you Jess, I've being very busy the last few months with a new job, pretty much only thing I've really focused on since March. Matt was referencing that the Database was nuked (not that you nuked it). It wasn't done by you it was just how shit goes when managing a site (I killed many an old messageboard back in the day) and Wiki's are far more complex. Can't remember which file it was but one of the files of the old Wiki was not recoverable. The new version of the Guyver.Net will be built around WordPress like the currently reworked version WG.com and any one who done work on the old Wiki is welcome to get posts together here for later uploading to that Site when it gets under control. Note thanks to the Wayback time machine site I was able to recover some of the old Wiki Pages, they'll be going back up on the Guyver.Net later. If only I could invent a time machine and have more time in the day to work on it.... Quote

It used to be focused around a Wiki (which is since dead) and the message board we are chatting on. Jess gave up the site to me and I took it on to keep it going. I'd to make some tough calls on how to get the site to be manageable and that meant cutting the old Wiki which was not recoveable fromt he site and making it focus on what it manly is which is the Message-Board. WarriorGuyver.com in a similar way had a messageboard (2 in fact one old archive and an active one) and it effectively split the chat and trebled my work keeping them all up to date and working. So I merged them all into Japan-Legend. TheGuyver.Net will take over were the wiki and some old Guyver info pages I used to run left off. Recently replaced it with a word press site and will be Guvyer'iszing it later when I get time and putting a theme together for it that works. 1 Quote
Tora Tan Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 (edited) Oh! it's all gone! I was looking through those old wallpapers just the other day. damn. will all that stuff be restored when you have the wordpress sorted out? edit: oh my bad! I found it again, here http://www.warriorguyver.com/gfa/theguyvernet/index.htm I remember the guyvernet being the name of it and got confused with the web addresses.
