Salkafar Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 Hmmm. So wait, is this the sequel to Prometheus or to Aliens? Quote

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant find what they believe to be an uncharted paradise. What the crew discover is a dark, dangerous world, whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien:_Covenant Quote
Shin Mefilas Posted December 25, 2016 Author Posted December 25, 2016 (edited) From what I understand it's a sequel to Prometheus but we are still in a time period before Alien. Also given the hints dropped in some of Prometheus's extra material the new Blade Runner might also have ties to the Alien Verse to. Also given the movies general themes and the fact that he was originally going to drop a hint in the first film, the studios might try to tie in the next Avatar movie too (my pure speculation). How well this will all work I have no idea, tieing together these three franchises into one universe could work if done right. Edited December 25, 2016 by Paul The Dinosaur Hunter Quote
LordSpleach Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 I wonder what the Xenomorph looks like now with that new 'transformation' burst. Quote

Sorry for the late reply. From what I've looked up that thing is not a xenomorph, it's a Neomorph. Neomorphs are the product of being infected by the spores realised by the plants, infecting the crew while the classic Xeno will be born the classic way. This is an entire planet affected by the black ooze. They are like the Decon from the last movie. Creatures akin to the xenomorphs but not the same species. I've theorises that these are older less refined versions of the xenomorph. Edited December 28, 2016 by Maséngro Quote
H222G981 Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 This looks interesting and really gory. I'm really wanting to see this movie bad. Quote
Azaar Posted March 3, 2017 Posted March 3, 2017 (edited) I've always liked the Alien franchise, even Alien3 and Alien: Resurrection. Prometheus, unfortunately, showed me only one thing: Ridley Scott isn't capable of adapting to the times as a director. I found Prometheus to be just... bad, all around: none of the characters interested me in the slightest, the story wasn't up to snuff (honestly, Aliens should be the benchmark by which the story should be judged, because Cameron truly upped the ante), and more often than not, I was simply bored throughout the entire movie. Alien: Covenant looks to be more of the same, and worse is that it's blocking Alien 5 (where Ripley, Hicks and Newt were supposed to actually be alive and show that Alien3 and Resurrection were just bad cryosleep nightmares). Now, don't get me wrong: I respect what Ridley Scott has done, particularly in giving us Alien to begin with. But Prometheus, to me, is like what many fans seem to think of the prequel trilogy for Star Wars. You know it's bad, though, when I view Prometheus so poorly that I have zero interest in looking at the trailers. Edited March 3, 2017 by Azaar 1 Quote

I hate to be the one to tell you but its not holding it up.....a while back the guy trying to get Alien 5 off the ground said the chances of it being made were "slim". I personally view the movie differently to you. Prometheus is a movie that was hampered by poor choices and ego on Ridley's part. I found a lot to like about the movie, even some of the characters. But many important parts of the story, especially ones that were vital for character development and the over all plot were cut or never even filmed. That combined with some other poor choices insured that Prometheus could never reach its full potential as a film. Is it a perfect movie? hell no. Are your wrong? no sir. I think its just we see the movie differently and I so far Covenant is impressing me. While I was not one of them, the fan and critical backlash to Prometheus has hopeful showed Ridley that ego and grand ideas do not build a movie alone. I for one did not want that Alien 5. Sorry but the dark and depressing Alien trilogy is perfect as it is and I would never want Alien 3 to be overwritten. Edited March 4, 2017 by Lord Vermoud Quote

Salkafar Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 If humans are exposed to the spores and the spores are like the black oil from 'Prometheus', shouldn't they change like Fyfield did? Or the way he was supposed to have changed? http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/avp/images/4/4e/XenoFifield.png/revision/latest?cb=20140115133753 Quote

This planet is not like the one in Prometheus and something is not right about it. While there is both an Engineer ship and facility here, we do not know what their purpose was and its possible that they are more advanced then the last one. Scott stated that the facility from Prometheus was older then the Derelict in Alien. They could have refined or altered the black goo here or it may even be a different but similar type of weapon. The Black Goo seemed to be purely manufactured and kept in earns, these spores come from an organic source and to top it all off we also have xenomorph eggs. I personally think we are looking at three distinct types of bio-weapon. But there is an even bigger unknown thrown into all this. David, he's here and whole again. What he been doing all this time? We will just have to see. I will say though that a Neomorph birth death must be worse then a xenomoprh one. The spine is much thicker then the rib cage and full of nerves, a slow and very painful death. also they seem to be based of some old artwork from Prometheus, although from what little we see their design has undergone some noticeablye changes. Yes their is another look alike android on board. But if you look closely their is a hooded figure on the planet who is not one of the crew and from what I can make out, it appears to be David from the Prometheus! The only other person it could be is Shaw, which would be just as interesting. Edited March 7, 2017 by Lord Vermoud Quote

Shin Mefilas Posted April 3, 2017 Author Posted April 3, 2017 (edited) Ok so we've got some new tv spots that give us a quick look at a Neomorph face. Also I ow Salkafar and you all an apology for miss-information. Turns out that the neomorphs are the product of a biohazard event on the planet, from the black goo, not a unique weapon. At least thats what I've gathered from AVPGalaxy. Edited April 3, 2017 by Neomorph Quote
Salkafar Posted April 3, 2017 Posted April 3, 2017 I'll await the first reviews, just like I will with ''Transformers: the Last Knight". Quote
