Archanfel versus (The Second Round)

Well, time to revitalize one of my favorite discussions regarding the Guyver-verse...

As I've discussed in past threads, I have had major doubts regarding Archanfel's alleged godhood.  Yes, he is phenomenally powerful and has demonstrated as such on numerous occassions, but whether he is a deity can be...debated.  In the past I have often drawn up lists on who, across the omniverse, could bring him down.  So...I'm gonna do it again.

To start off, let's begin with one of the most powerful characters to emerge in the Marvel Universe in recent years, Adam Bernard Bradshear, aka the Blue Marvel:


Where do I begin with this guy?  First off, his speed, strength, senses, stamina, and reflexes are all at superhuman levels.  In addition, he's blessed with flight, invulnerability, enhanced mental perception, a regenerative healing factor, energy generation, and molecular manipulation.  He's also demonstrated power levels that allowed him to go toe-to-toe with guys like the Sentry, so Dr. Bradshear is definitely a force to be reckoned with.

Did I also mention he holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics and Electrical Engineering from Cornell University?

So, who would you place in the ring with the leader of Chronos?

Continuing on, let's bring a contestant from the DC Universe...Doctor Fate!

Essentially DC's answer to Doctor Strange, Fate's abilities are derived from the Helmet of Nabu, which grants him access to a wide variety of mystical abilities.  Since magic and the supernatural does not seem to have any presence in the Guyver-verse (as of this post), I feel the odds would fall in the good Doctor's favor.

A god is definitely debate-able, more of an overlord I would say. Given all the powers by the creators to do so wouldn't make him divine.

Okay, let's shake things up and put in a really obscure contestant...PRIME!

Hailing from the all-but-forgotten Ultraverse, Prime (real name Kevin Green) has been billed as his world's strongest hero.  Green's abilities are derived from an organic "liquid flesh" from his torso.  When it forms around him, Prime possesses tremendous physical strength, exceptionally high resistance to physical injury, and can fly at Mach-level speeds.  His only real limit to his powers appears to be his imagination, or his attitude toward heroism at any given time.

Hmmm... if we're talking about exceptionally powerful psychic types: what about this guy? I've talked about him before in this board.

He was the product of Magneto's evil infecting Professor Xavier and possessed both their power sets: immensely powerful telepathy and control over magnetism. A little while later he captured Nate Grey and Franklin Richards, two mutants with immense psychic abilities and the power to alter reality, and took their powers for his own. He took on all the heroes shown above, plus the X-Men, and was defeating them all until a bunch of them sacrificed themselves to contain his life force and destroy him. His powers, at their peak, were enough to make a second sun appear in the sky.

He's not a very complicated character - after all, he's not a person, but more of a sentient psychic tumor, consisting only of hate. At first he wanted to destroy all the humans so that mutants would inherit the Earth, but when he read Nate Grey's mind, he discovered that in the alternate timeline he came from that had already happened, and the world had been destroyed anyway.  So he decided he would simply kill everybody in the world.

I really wonder what an all-out battle between him and Archanfel would be like.

Speaking of insane donnybrooks, how about this contestant? Atum, also called Demogorge the God-Eater!

The offspring of Gaea and the Demiurge, Atum was the first of a new race of gods after the Elder Gods had degenerated into demons and waged war on another.  Atum then set out to destroy the demons, and in doing so transformed into Demogorge the God-Eater, virtually erasing the majority of the old gods from the Earthly plane, save for a few such as Chthon and Set.

As Atum, he possesses abilities far above those of Earth's pantheons, even surpassing beings such as Odin and Zeus in terms of power.  In addition, he possesses superhuman strength, stamina, resistance to injury, and can tap into & manipulate elemental and solar energies, which he can manifest as sunlight, but with powerful destructive force.

As Demogorge, he possesses energy siphoning powers as well as a tendency to physically absorb immortal/"godly" flesh into his body.

Definitely would love to see Archanfel try to deal with this guy...

How about this guy? That should be interesting.

Five thousand years ago, in the Middle East, a shepherd boy lost his family in an attack by raiders. Beseeching the gods for help, six of them bestowed their powers on him, transforming him into the Champion, defender of the defenseless, fighting oppressors and injustice. He could change back and forth between his mortal form and his super-powered body, by uttering a word made up of the first letters of the names of his six divine patrons who had given him the strength of Voldar, the wisdom of Lumiun, the speed of Arel, the power of Ribalvei, the courage of Elbiam and the stamina of Marzosh: VLAREM!

Many centuries later, he would pass on the power to a modern-day champion, because this is Shazam, the wizard who transformed Billy Batson into Captain Marvel! But he is the original.

As the Champion, he possesses vast strength, speed and endurance, on a par with Superman, great intelligence and stores of knowledge, as well as magic ability and a resistance against mental attacks.

How about...

The Supreme God - Fused Zamasu

"My form is justice! My form is the world! Revere me. Praise me. This noble and beautiful... immortal and most powerful god... Zamasu!"

The fusion of Goku Black and Immortal Zamasu, Fused Zamasu is currently the most powerful villain of the dragon ball franchise, with his power rivaling those of the Super Saiyan Blue Vegito.

While unstable, he possess an semi-immortal body that continually re-generates, a form of enhance saiyan biology that allows him to grow stronger from any pain he receives, can sense ki (natural life energy), the power teleport vast distances and as a Supreme Kai he has the power to cross dimensional barriors, the power to create energy constructs and beings and can create a barrier capable of weathering large amounts of damage. He given his level of power he can easily destroy planets and can damage the fabric of reality (inherited from Black). He also can potentially draw more and manipulate energy from the fabric of reality to create his constructs or empower himself (speculative theory on my part). The time ring on his hand allows him to travel to any point in history and informs him of any space/time anomalies, which he can follow (however as that anomaly closes he will be forced back through it). The ring also protects him from the affects of causality meaning no change in history, even the death of himself/selves, will destroy his current self.

However due to a number of factors this fusion is unstable causing power fluctuations and physical instability. His semi-immortal body can know also be killed with enough damage.

However his immortal soul is capable of surviving the death of his body and infecting the fabric of reality, making Zamasu an omnipotent, cosmic entity.

What is it about insanely OP characters having glowy auras anyway?

Speaking of OP, let's kick things up a notch and bring a rather unusual contestant...the Star Brand!

Originating in the New Universe, and eventually migrating to the Marvel Universe, the Star Brand is essentially a tattoo that grants who ever possesses it virtually infinite power, limited in application only by the bearer's imagination.

The first know bearer of the Star Brand had tried to get rid of it by placing it on an asteroid in space, triggering the "White Event" in the New Universe, which bathed the Earth in a white light and caused many people to develop paranormal abilities.  The next bearer, a man named Ken Connell attempted to remove it by placing it on a free weight, but in doing so accidentally destroyed the Pittsburgh, causing the "Black Event."

The Brand would eventually make its way to the Marvel Universe when Wendell Vaughn, the superhero known as Quasar, accidentally ended up in the New Universe while on a mission from Uatu the Watcher.   Locating the third brand wielder, Jacob Burnsley, Quasar was able to use the brand's power to get himself back home, where he unintentionally passed it onto his secretary and love interest, Kayla Ballantine.

This is Thunderwing. In his world the people of Cybertron had been at war for millions of years across the cosmos, but by this time, both sides were exhausted and had withdrawn back to their homeworld. But the scientist Thunderwing had realized that the ecosystem of the planet was collapsing; it could no longer stand the strain of two factions of an unbelievably powerful race of warrior robots locked in endless battle. Realizing catastrophe was inevitable, he proposed the creation of protective exoskeletons, made from living tissue harvested from (likely unwilling) hosts. His proposal was rejected with disgust by Autobots and Decepticons alike, but he forged ahead anyway - alone. Well... in a sense, he was completely successful, managing to create a new body that fitted around his own body, made from donor tissue abraded from living Cybertronians; and his new form was staggeringly, astonishingly powerful. Towering over his fellow Cybertronians, he wielded an array of powers, mainly based on the manipulation of vast amounts of radiant energy, although his physical form was incredibly strong and resistant to damage as well.

Unfortunately the process drove him insane. The mad superbeing turned on everything in his path, until Autobots and Decepticons found themselves forced to work together to defeat him. In the end, the Stormbringer was felled as the very crust of the planet collapsed under his feet, burying him under megatons of debris at the bottom of Thunderhead Pass. The conflagration was the final straw; Cybertron was rendered uninhabitable even for its hardy hardy people, who went into exile from the planet of their birth. Centuries later, he was revived by the mad scientist Bludgeon, and steered to the planet Nebulos, which he proceeded to devastate in a few hours of casual effort, as a 'sacrifice' to restore Cybertron.

In short, Thunderwing possesses the power to raze a planet, while very little can be done to make him stop. If he wasn't practically mindless, he would be even more dangerous.

Well thats a rather interesting and dark story. SPOILERS for Dragon Ball Super for readers who want to avoid them.

Well after getting weakend by his fight with Vegito and being cut in half by Trunks (I wont go into it know but Trunks gets a big power increase in the story, not all of which is well written I'll admit) Zamasu's soul is still immortal.

And then....

Goku, Vegeta, Trunks, Mai and the Supreme Kai's manage to survive but all seems hopeless....until Goku looks in his pocket and finds a button. A button given to him by Zen-Oh, The Omni-King, ruler of the dragon ball multiverse. Goku pushs it butten the Zen-Oh who shows up is one from this timeline, not Goku's. Seeing the situation he states "A world like this... A world like this must disappear!".

Zen-Oh then proceeds to destroy Trunks's universe killing Zamasu in the process. 

It was already pretty grim as Zamasu had used the Super Dragon Balls to destroy all dragon balls, meaning Trunks could never have wished back anyone anyway. Now without a home or even a universe to go back to Trunks and Mai opt to travel to an alternate time-line created by Beerus and Whis were everyone is still alive (even passed versions of themselves) but at least they can see their friend again.....even if they have not become friends in this timeline.

And this is only counting the stuff Thunderwing's done in the IDW Transformers books...

Speaking of technology run amok, permit me to submit a new contestant...Hank Henshaw, the Cyborg Superman!

Once a brilliant scientist, Henshaw was part of a doomed space flight in which he and three crewmates were exposed to cosmic radiation and horrifically transformed.  While Henshaw's physical body had expired, his consciousness was transferred into a computer and eventually found its way into Superman's birthing matrix and created a new body, part-Kryptonian, part machine.  He would re-emerge as one of the "Four Supermen" who appeared in the wake of Superman's apparent demise during his battle with Doomsday, and was responsible for destroying Coast City, setting off the chain of events that led to Hal Jordan becoming Parallax.

Henshaw's powers include technopathy (the ability to control machines, as well as incorporate tech into his physical form, making them an extension of himself) as well as the standard Kryptonian powers via Superman's cloned DNA.  As a member of the Sinestro Corps, Henshaw also has wielded a Qwardian power ring, and has even been the grandmaster of the robotic Manhunters.

Okay, just for giggles, I want to throw in a contestant who'd most likely drive Archanfel nuts...the Impossible Man!

 

An inhabitant of the planet Poppup, Impy has the ability to rearrange the molecules of his body at will into any form he chooses.  He can simulate some of the abilities and functions of the object or living being he imitates, depending on what that object or being is.  However, if he imitates an object such as Thor's enchanted uru hammer, Captain America's vibranium-adamantium shield, or the Silver Surfer's cosmic surfboard, he can only take on the appearance of said objects, and not their special properties.  Some other interesting ways he has adapted his body include: turning himself into a living bomb, turning his body into non-conductive material so he wouldn't be affected by Klaw, and recreating Klaw's sound-projecting cannon, allowing him to reproduce Klaw's sound powers, including the ability to create independent sound creatures.  In addition, the Impossible Man also has an encyclopedic knowledge of Earth's popular culture.

Uh-oh. That reminded me of this guy...

The Adaptoid was created a long time ago by AIM (the Advanced Idea Mechanics, formerly the science division of terrorist organization HYDRA, who had struck out on their own) specifically to fight superheroes; he had been made with a shard of the Cosmic Cube, an item of unknowable power, which allowed him to take on the appearance and abilities of any life form he encountered. This ability does not appear to have limits, as he proved capable of taking on the powers of even Thor; and by mixing and matching various power sets he could become as powerful as any opponent. He even duplicated the power of Kubik, who himself was a sentient Cosmic Cube, and possesses infinite power - so now he did, too. The Adaptoid has three key weaknesses: a neurotic need to prove himself superior to humanity, an intrinsic inability to understand humans and a lack of imagination.

These would not prove drawbacks when facing Archanfel, I think.

The Adaptoid seems to be AIMs improved take on the Awesome Android - a more primitive robot with similar powers, created by the Mad Thinker.

Let's switch gears and move into some fresh territory...

For your consideration, I give you...the Samaritan from Kurk Busiek's "Astro City"!

Hailing from the 35th Century, the man who would be known as the Samaritan volunteered to be sent back through time to save his world from a calamity.  Traveling through the timestream he was caught up in "empyrean fire", which granted him such abilities as hypersonic flight, energy manipulation (called an empyrean web) which enables him to carry and hold objects much larger than him, super strength (which may or may not be the result of his energy-based abilities), super-hearing, and dimensional manipulation.

Our next contestant gives new meaning to the phrase, "use your head" -- the Uni-Mind!

The Uni-Mind is a collective being which is created by a significant number of Eternals merging their physical and mental beings into one organism, combining the collective psionic and cosmic energy of several hundred Eternals, which manifests itself as a gigantic brain-like organism. As such, it has an immeasurable intellect, and the composite knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience of all its constituent beings. A Uni-Mind possesses vast psionic abilities across a wide range of mental talents, including levitation, psychokinesis, telepathy, the ability to project mental bolts of force, the ability to travel through the vacuum of space unharmed, and intellectual powers of information processing and problem-solving far beyond human understanding.

I can't believe this one slipped my mind. Devilman's Satan.

Satan is an a true Archangel and one of the two most powerful of his kind along with his sibling Micheal. He has existed long before the earth did and may infact be a part of God himself. In some continuity his body is entirely comprised of Photon Energy (the limitless energy source that power the Mazinger Z line of super robots).

Long ago  God  created the Earth. Afterwards, he planted his seed and left. He then returned billions years later, and noticed that some creatures had become demons. God considered them to be imperfect, so he attempted to wipe them out entirely. Satan hated their father's actions, and consequently sided with the demons; becoming their leader. They led a revolt against God, and managed to win and drive his forces back by combining his power with all the demons. The war was one bu the earth's environment was no-longer hospitable so the demons and Satan then voluntarily put themselves into the ice, and went into hibernation for millions years. When they awoke, they found the Earth to be very different as to how they remembered. They were angry at the humans for having ruined the Earth of their memories.

Satan formulated a plan, the demons should remain in hiding while he walked among the humans to find their weaknesses. He took on the persona of a boy named Ryo Asuka, even going so far as to have his memories sealed away by a powerful psychic demon, Psycho Jenny, and given memories of the true Ryo. It was at this point that Satan first learned of the pure heated boy Akira Fudo, an old friend of Ryo's, and fell in love with him. Before becoming Ryo, Satan had set up an elaborate ruse that would insure Akira's survival. Thanks to false memories impaneled by Jenny, the new Ryo knew of demons and their plans to take back the world. He sought out his old "friend" Akira for help. He informed Akira of what he knew and unknowingly tricked him into fusing with the demon hero Amon, turning him into Devilman. 

As time passed strange things begin to happen around Ryo, he gains the power to sense demons, demons he trys to kill wont fight back, when he becomes jealous of Akira's girlfriend Miki a demon appears trying to kill her and he's having strange visions and nightmares. Growing more confused and afraid, Ryo returns to his old home and inspected a fossilized demon head which provided visions of the demons history (he had previously used this to convince Akira of his story). He found it no longer worked and was infact a fake. It is at this point when Jenny appears before him and restores his memories. He is Satan once more.

Satan now knows the humans greatest weakness. Fear and Paranoia. They order demons to begin randomly fusing with humans (killing many of the fusees in the possess) then goes on live TV as Ryo and tells everyone about demons, even going so far as to show video of Akira's transformation. These events lead to global panic, mob rule, witch hunts and marshal law. The demons dont even have to lift a finger now, the humans will weaken themselves, then they can step in. During all this many innocent humans and devilmen are killed, including Akira's adopted family and Miki. This causes Devilman to loose faith in humanity and he kills humans for the first time in a fit of revenge and despair furled rage. After this  Devilman and Satan gather their armies and engage in a war that twenty years. In the end the earth is left barren, the moon is broken and everyone (humans, demons and devilmen) are dead.

Satan and Devilman are laying together looking up at the broken moon, Satan tells Devilman of their passed and their revelation. That they was no better then God had been all those years ago. Satan tries to ask for forgiveness but Devilman...Akira is dead. Satan has won and lost everything.

Satan begins to weep as angels descend from the sky.

The full extent of Satan's power is unknown however all of the demons, even the strongest like Demon Lord Zennon and Psycho Jenny would never seek to challenge him. His main powers shown are energy blasts, psychic abilities, barriers and reality warping. In the story Amon: The Dark Side of Devilman, with his immense psychic power Satan renderd the incredibly strong Amon, who's power rivals, if not out right surpasses that of a Zoalord, powerless and defeated with a mere thought. In the main story of Devilman, Satan makes an entire country disappear in a flash of light and turns everyone in another into pillars of salt. However his single greatest feat was in Violence Jack, here satan actually warp reality, undoing the war and everything that had happened and re-writing history. Here instead of the demons awakening, the entire Kanto region of Japan suffered an massive earthquake, the Kanto Hell Quake that separated the region from Japan. The event killed millions but the true horror was yet to come. Cut of from the world and left to rot by the rest of Japan, Kanto became a true hell were humans become monsters and the strong ruled. This was the dark and terrible world of Violence Jack!

Well, if we're gonna go apocalyptic, let's bring in someone who could really cause Archanfel problems...the Plutonian from Mark Waid's "Irredeemable"!

Originally the greatest hero of his world, Plutonian, after a series of events, degenerated into its greatest villain.  Created by a race of aliens called the Eleos, the aliens became intrigued by the diversity and intensity of human emotions, and crafted a probe using a piece of themselves, to study humans more closely.  This probe would eventually become the being called the Plutonian, who initally begins as a Superman-esque character, but after an event which culminates in the death of hundreds of children from an alien virus (of which the Plutonian was involved), he snaps, lobotomizes his partner, and destroys his home of Sky City, killing 3.5 million people in thirty minutes.

The Plutonian's powers are not physical but psionic, enabling him to subconsciously manipulate matter on an atomic level: allowing him to heat or freeze the air, see through objects, fly, render himself virtually indestructible, possess super strength and heightened senses, and make opponents more susceptible to damage. It's been hypothesized that if the Plutonian is made aware of his true abilities he would be able to alter probability, see through time and reverse entropy, concluding "and that's just if he moves from Kindergarten to grade school."  After meeting with his Eleos creators, Plutonian's powers are expanded. He gains a sixth digit on each hand like the Eleos, and learns how to alter his density to become intangible, remotely ignite explosions by manipulating quantum matter, negate inertia to the point he can stop Earth's moon rotating, view an individual's history by using their mind as a focal point to see through time, and to detect raw materials within a planet and draw them to the surface by will.

If Archanfel went up against this guy...well, let's just say I'd rather not get too deep into it.

Sutekh the Destroyer

Sutekh, also known as The Typhonian Beast, Set, Sadok, Satan and Ssethissi, is a member of the Osirans.

As a species Osirans had expanded brain-cases and a cerebrum like "a spiral staircase", which meant they particularly liked puzzles. They had a wide variety of advanced psychic powers, including mental and physical projection, mind control and telepathy. They could also live for thousands of years, even without sufficient food or water. The Osirian Court spanned six hundred worlds that had been "civilised" by Osiris, notably including ancient Egypt. Although spread across the cosmos, Osirian culture was principally focused on two sites: the Throneworld, and the Ship of a Billion Years, the immense vessel which carried Ra, Nut, and their attendant pantheon through the heavens while binding together the noospheres of the Court's territories into a coherent whole. Osiran technology was based on the mathematics of topology, positioning and shapes. They would be specially aligned to the stars in order to work. For example, the Osirans set up the Pyramids on Mars and Earth as power receivers, directing energy to the Great Sphinx, which would power all the Osiran technology on the planets. When moving away from the Pyramids, these buildings would need to be rebuilt or smaller collectors would have to be brought there. The Osirans also relied heavily on psi-projectors, which would allow them to travel in space using only the power of their mind. These too required precise mathematical skills, as well as powerful minds to control the ships. The basis of Osirian science stemmed from the fact that their homeworld lacked a magnetic field. This led to them developing their technology on the principles of monopolar magnetic fields. Despite the unusual design, the Osirans had technology that rivalled the Time Lords; the Ship of a Billion Years was more than powerful enough to take down the entire 59th Time Fleet. He believed that the Osirian Court would be helpful to the House Military on seventeen of the War's 920 fronts. Lodestones were a type of time travel technology used by the Osirans, generally embedded into a sarcophagus. These lodestones created a time tunnel, allowing the Osirans to travel backwards and forwards in time. Unlike Time Lord technology, these lodestone produced a lot of time spillage, which would be absorbed by the traveller. If someone went backwards in time or forwards in time by a thousand years, the traveller would also age a thousand years. This was not an obstacle for the Osirans, due to their long lifespans. These lodestones would draw in vortex energy, which could pull in TARDISes. Another example of Osiran technology were the Osiran service robots. They were thin robots with a wire framework to give them a more humanoid shape and were powered by a cytronic particle accelerator in the shape of pyramids. They had immense strength and could be controlled by a special ring. These robots were covered in specially treated wrappings which gave them the appearances of mummies. The entire race eventually left this universe for a higher dimension, leaving only Anubis, Sutekh's child, to guard the gate they used. 

Sutekh was "head of security" for the Osirian Court but sought to usurp power from his brother Horus. Sutekh declared a time war against Horus, which resulted a trail of havoc across half the galaxy and the destruction of the Osirian home world.  During this time Sutehk began to fear that one day a lifeform/s might  evolve enough to challenge his hegemony, and so planned to destroy all life in the universe. Eventually 740 Osirans led by Horus were able to overcome the destroyer and place him in eternal imprisonment on earth with the power source of his prison  being placed on mars. In the year 1911, the archaeologist Professor Marcus Scarman excavated the inner chamber of the pyramid beneath which Sutekh was imprisoned, discovering Sutekh and thereby accidentally allowing him a chance of escape. Sutekh controlled Scarman's corpse, using it and Osiran service robots to construct a rocket in an English priory aimed at the Eye of Horus on Mars. The Fourth Doctor and Sarah were able to destroy the rocket, but the Doctor fell under the psychic control of Sutekh's will as a result. He was made to take Scarman and the robots to Mars in the Doctor's TARDIS. Despite the Doctor's attempt to stop them after surviving an attempt on his life by one of Sutekh's robots, Scarman destroyed the Eye and freed Sutekh. Hurrying back to Earth, the Doctor defeated Sutekh by delaying his trip in a time corridor to the priory by moving the corridor's threshold to the far future, thus effectively ageing him to death. The Doctor said he lived about seven thousand years.  However only the body of Sutekh was defeated, his consciousness would live on to further plague the galaxy.

Sutekh was the most powerful of his race and possibly the most powerful foe the Doctor has ever faced, wielding such immense mental power that he could destroy entire star systems and manipulate space/time, once displaying the power to stop and reverse the materialisation of a timeship. It was even said that he could change the course of history. Unlike other Osirians, who needed a barge to handle the heat of the star Ra, Sutekh could safely stand next to Ra without any protection. He would also boast that he could keep his victims alive for centuries in excruciating pain, threatened to hold someone in torment, conscious, for centuries, peeling her nerves from her carcass and repeatedly burning and resurrecting all of her cells. According to the Doctor, not even the Time Lords could stop Sutekh should he been released from his prison and his own people felt that if he became king of the Osirian Court, he would become the single greatest threat to life in the universe. His intellect matched his power and while paranoid and prideful, he was also patient. Even imprisoned, immobilized and his powers limited, Sutekh was a force to be reckoned with. With seal broken, his mental abilities allowed him to easily dominate others, making them puppets to his will. He also appeared to be able to telepathically read other beings, even those established to have psychic defenses. Even the Doctor, a Time Lord, was defencelss in the presence of Sutekh. He could also reanimate corpses to act as his servants and contain the explosive force of gelignite from miles away (the gelignite being in England and Sutekh in Egypt), although this was difficult and could be easily disrupted by a simple distraction. He could focus his power through his servants, enabling them to burn people to death with a touch, and was able to destroy the Eye of Horus on Mars from Earth when a servant was within a few meters of it.
