So what are everybody's thoughts on this system? I'm definitely intrigued myself, but I'm concerned that it won't have the hardware specs that third parties are looking. Plus the battery life on the portable screen is key.

I love the fact that cartridges are coming back, and I wonder what the cases will look like. And I do like the emphasis on local multiplayer/couch co-op.

Now I hope this list of third party supporters stay this big(or get bigger) throughout the console's lifetime.

Side-tangent: I don't even know why Konami is on this list. Are they coming out with a pachinko peripheral, or....facebook style game? Though, I would like to play pachinko at some point in my life, though I won't give Konami money.

It looks like they're trying to go with the whole Ipad set up.

Pretty much, have console that can also function as a proper handheld system is pretty ambitious. I myself am more curious on how the Joy-con work, especially when being used for split screen local multiplayer. It looks like each joy-con functions with only six buttons plus analog sticks from what we can see of them in the pictures and the trailer that have been released. I am hoping they have a better set of release titles than the 3DS did at launch. You've probable notice that Nintendo Switch game carts are noticeable thicker than the 3ds' (the 3DS game carts can have up to 8 GB of data), So I wonder exactly how much larger their storage capacity will be. Who here hopes it will be around $250, I certain hope it is.

With the rumored price point of $299 US and a new proper Zelda game at launch... It's probably a day 1 buy for me. Plus that Pro controller... Which is essentially a XBox controller.

I'm also excited because Nintendo does handhelds very well... And if this is their attempt to replace the 3DS to something bigger, I will be all for it.

Well the video demonstrate multiple screen usage, so I think that can take care of the split-screen.

I don't think it will replace the 3DS too......unless it does even better than the Wii and PS2. The original DS wasn't supposed to replace the Game Boy Advance, that is, until it sold like gangbustas.

That's just how every game company has always done it, saying that " It's not supposed to replace" something is essentially saying " Don't stop buying games for this older system just because we have a new one coming". And with the rumored price point, it puts the system dangerously close to the new 3DS prices as it is.

If anything, I think the switch is Nintendo finally "Getting it" in terms of what their audience wants by figuring out what their strengths and weakness' are. Both Sony and Nintendo had hints of great ideas with the Vita and the Wii U, but both failed to fully capitalize on the things they did right... But with those 2 "failures" we have something nice and refined, that could be the next big thing for gaming.

See, the Vita was a state of the art handheld, with power to play games with excellent "Near AAA" graphics... But was bogged down by a parent company who didn't support it, bad marketing decisions and gimmicks no one wanted to use, but were forced to. While the Wii U was an under powered system that barely did anything new, other than the controller, and a company so blinded by greed that they did not realize why the Wii had been such a success. The only good thing to come from the Wii U was the concept of playing your games on the TV, then switching to the handheld controller... Something Sony did in reverse with poor results with the Vita.

And as for the 3DS... Well the only reason it is so popular is because of the support Nintendo pushed for it. Good games keep it alive... But VERY few games ever make proper use of the 3D, and very few people still use it unless necessary... And with it's somewhat awkward button layout ( especially on the New 3DS XL's) it'd be a good time to replace it... But let's not forget that they almost tanked it with the first version of the 3DS ( I was an early adopter)... But they apologized and put their weight behind it, and now it's a dominant gaming platform in a world of PS4's and Xbox One's.

The Switch however seems to be focusing on all the good parts from what was learned in the past. Small-ish, powerful system, able to play on TV or hand held without the controllers changing much, and without any big gaming gimmicks to force Dev's to use. No motion controls, no weird touch pads, just a simple controller system with a rumored touch screen.

The only gimmicks it has, only make it more fun...

- Powerful system with rumored 720p graphics or better

- Able to play on a TV, hand held, or as a monitor with controller

- Supports different controller types that aren't gimmicky ( Joy-Con dock, Joy-Con undocked, hand held, pro controller etc.. )

- Supports simple Co-Op/VS play on one system by using the Joy cons as 2 smaller controllers

- Able to wirelessly connect other Switch systems to play vs or co-op, sometimes 2v2 (something from the 3DS tech)

- Early rumors from Dev's are saying it is easy to develop for

- The lack of "silly gimmicks" is a great gimmick.

If Nintendo throws their full weight behind this, and it looks like they are, this could easily replace the 3DS and put Nintendo back in the running for being known for great gaming overall, rather than just for their handhelds, where they have always dominated.

All this is why I am excited for what this could potentially be.
