Who do you think would be the best canidate?
I personally think it would be James Cameron. The maticulous way he pays attention to the most minute detail. Of course I need to see his work for the movie Battle Angel or a trailer of it before I would officially select him for Guyver.

Guyver 2 Female...

Hey there everyone!

Correct me if I am wrong but was it not said or hinted that the control medal for the new artificial Guyver unit was salvaged from the remains of the original Guyver 2?

The last time I checked, a control medal upon activation becomes automatically linked to a hosts mind by burrowing tentacle like appendages into the hosts brain. It even records and copies the hosts DNA and memories! What I was thinking is that if the above is true, that the control medal came from the original Guyver 2, who is to say that some portion of Lisker wasn't somehow leftover from his final battle with Guyver 1. I think that it would be an interesting possibility that some portion of Liskers conciseness does in fact remain in the rebuilt control medal, and that we may soon see Lisker fighting for control of the Guyver unit from within. We may see like a schizophrenic Valcuria or something! o_0

The King's Gallery

So everybody, I've decided to have my own little gallery here on JL. I figure I need to get my art out there somehow and every little bit helps.

So, I'll be updating periodically, you know when I can and feel up to it. By all means feel free to critique my work and if you have a negative comment or two, I'd love to hear it. Be as mean or nice as you like, any and all critiques and comments are well appreciated. I will provide small summaries to help everyone understand what the assignment was or what I was going for.

Without further adieu, lets begin!

"And Omen of Our Future"
Acrylic Paint, Spray Paint, and Charcoal
Made in Expressive Drawing 2009

1st we have one of my favorites, this was a personal graffiti where I was told to express my emotions and what I like to see in art in a graffiti style. Out of the 12 people that showed off their personal graffitis, mine was the only one that looked like graffiti. I love how the red eyes are a focal point and draw the eyes to the white writing behind it.

"The Corrdior"
Colored Pen and Ink
Made in Expressive Drawing 2009

Al Held is an artist that made a career out of taking thick black ink lines and creating abstract compositions with them. He accented these lines with small applications of flat opaque color. Our assignment was to take the interior of a building and create an interesting composition with the Al Held style line. I like this piece because of the "endless void" feeling it gives off. When you look down the corridor to the blue window, you get a feeling of endless space, like the door is unreachable, yet its right there. Plus the walls create an excellent foreground establishing a sense of 3-D.

"20 Faces of a Enigmatic Mind"
Colored Pen and Ink
Made in Expressive Drawing 2009

Now we have my family's favorite. This is an expressive self portrait where we had to make our own expression of ourselves through 20 different self portrait compositions. Really this is where we are allowed to show all our creativity and have fun. My personal favorite portrait is 3rd from the left, top row. I like how even though the white has no color or ink, it is still more interesting than the blue and red since its such a contrast.

"Early Morning"
Maya 2011- Only Polygons
Made in Shading and Lighting

This was 1 of 4 different compositions where we had to take the interior of a house, light a composition, and finally use 1 of 4 different camera types. This is a fisheye lens and I like how the light hits the lamp to the far left. It really makes it pop out. I also like the rim light on the curtains, it gives the piece a feeling like the sun is still rising while also establishing a sense of early morning.

So I hope you all like what you're seeing, I will try and update this thread often and hopefully I can provide you guys with some cool and interesting art.

Quite frankly, a lot of the forums I've been to lately have been "extremely dull" (now say this in a Scottish accent and congratulations, you just imitated David Tennant) and so I haven't been able to talk much.

So really, I'm just gonna random-update every couple of days.
Possibly post something funny.
Maybe a couple of pictures and a drawing or two that I put up on DevArt (which will be few and far between; never expect a drawing to actually ever get scanned in the next like...year.)

Anyway.
Finally getting a haircut...I'm sure my stylist will be EXTREMELY surprised by how long it is now.

If you want to know, my bangs are now down to my nose, and the side-bangs are almost at the bottom of my face.
...
That's pretty long.

After enzyme rips the control metal out of Guyver One the armor begins to overload and devour Sho. I haven't read the issue in Manga so I don't know how it looked in the comic. I remember in the 12part OVA where the same thing happened it kind of looked like a mirror image of Sho only deformed. I started to think that this could be the bio boosted organism original form before the control metal bonded to it. Maybe the Advents/Creators/Uranus enslaved a parasitic race and adjusted their structures to create the Guyver for their use.

Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2 is the announced, but not yet released, sequel to Arena Net's Guild Wars. Unlike the original Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2 will be a MMORPG. There will be some instanced areas, but most of the game is in persistent areas where other players can just pop in. The instanced areas will be every characters "home" in their race's primary city and 5 man dungeons.

Guild Wars 2 has very different game mechanics than Guild Wars 1 so Guild Wars 1 characters cannot be imported, however players of Guild Wars 1 will get some kind of cosmetic rewards.

Official Guild Wars 2 trailer
Guild Wars 2 is set 250 years after the events of Guild Wars: Eye of the North. Every 50 years an Elder Dragon has awaken from its long sleep. These ancient creatures, older even then the gods of Tyria, have caused massive changes to the planet. Where ever one of these powerful creatures has gone nature itself has been corrupted. While it still slept the stone and fire based minions of Primordus drove the underground race known as asura to the service world. In response to these destroyers most of the dwarfs were transformed into living stone and went underground to fight them. 50 years later, when Primordus awoke there was no going back for the asura. Another 50 years passed, the elder dragon Jormag burst forth from Drakkar Lake forcing the proud, individualistic norn to flee their homes. Next was Zaihtan (the primary villain of Guild Wars 2), rising from the depths of the sea, bringing with it the lost continent of Orr. The human city of Lion's Arch the Great temple of Balthazar (god of word) were flooded. All the dead of orr and any sailors foolish enough to venture near Zhaitan became the mighty dragon's undead slaves. Because of Zhaitan travel from Tyria to Cantha is now impossible. After Zahitan an elder dragon who's name is currently unknown appeared in the deep of the ocean, spawning monstrous tentacles in the rivers and lakes of Tyria. Finally, Kralkatorrik rose from north of the charr homelands, the land it flew over was corrupted, every living thing, inclduing some charr, was transformed. Making its home in the Crystal Desert, Kralkatorrik, has effectively cut off travel between Tyria and Elona. (For the initial release Guild Wars 2 will take place on the continent of Tyria with no access to Cantha [where Guild Wars: Factions took place] or Elona [where Guild Wars: Nightfall was set].

In the original Guild Wars there was only one playable race, human. Guild Wars 2 expands the playable races to 5. The number of professions (classes) goes down from 10 to 8, but each of those professions is able to do more.

Official Guild Wars 2 races video
The five playable races are human, asura, charr, norn and sylvari. See the video for a brief introduction to races.
Those characters in the video will be met in the game. Each race has unique skills. These skills are apparently weaker then profession skills (Anet doesn't want any particular race to be better any particular profession) but still useful.

Humans: once the masters of Tyria (the continent) the human race has been all but wiped out. Weakened by wars against each other the humans were unprepared centuries ago when the charr invaded. The nation of Ascalon fell when the charr gainws new power from their titan gods, raining down fiery crystals which smashed walls and blackened the countryside. The king of Orr's great adviser used ancient, forbidden magic to send the entire continent plunging to the bottom of the sea. The charr invaders were killed but so was every human in Orr. Only Kryta was saved from charr invasion but at the cost of enslavement to tyrants. Mysterious creatures called the Mursaat destroyed the charr invaders then placed their worshipers, the members of the White Mantle in control of Tyria. It took a civil war fought by Krytan royalists, Ascalonian refugees (Prophecies player characters) and foreign heroes (Factions and Nightfall player characters) to free Kryta. Then the Elder Dragons awoke. Kryta's original capital city, Lion's Arch was flooded. Now the humans make their home in Divinity's Reach, fighting for survival against the constantly raiding centaurs. Peace with the charr having been finally achieved just one year ago. Humans are the most religious race on Tyria. Their racial skills are linked to their 6 gods. If you want to be agnostic play sylvari, if you want to be an atheist play charr.

Charr: feline like and living for war the charr were the villains in the early part of Guild Wars: Prophecies. I admit to being prejudiced against the charr because of this. In Prophecies the charr were considered ruthless and evil invaders. According to the rewritten history of Tyria set forth for Guild Wars 2, the charr were the original inhabitants of Tyria and the humans the invaders, the charr just wanted what they saw as their lands back. In the original Guild Wars the charr worshiped the Titans, fiery creatures from another dimension. However, after the titans were wiped out by a small band of humans (Prophecies player characters) the charr were left godless. The shaman of the Flame Legion tried to get the rest of the charr to accept the Destroyers (minions of the dragon Primordious) as their new gods but by this time most of the charr had decided that "there are no gods for the charr". This led to a civil war between the Flame Legion and the united Ash, Blood and Iron Legions. The three combined legions were not strong enough to defeat the Flame Legion. In the original Guild Wars there are no female charr, all charr encountered are male. The lore reason is because when the shaman first decided to make titans the charr gods one lone female charr said no. She was killed and all female char banned from combat. Centuries later, comes the civil war. The male char of the Ash, Blood and Iron Legions learn that their females have secretly been training themselves for combat. Their ranks swelled by female charr the 3 legions are now able to force the Flame Legion into surrendering. The female charr regained the right to fight along side male charr. That's a brief summary of the lore reason for no female charr in original GW and female charr being playable characters in GW2. I suspect the real reason is GW designers had no idea what female charr looked like. GW2 artists have decided that female charr are a bit less bulky have horns that point inward instead of outward like the males and have puffier tails. Female charr being felines do not have large breasts (see humans and norn for that). The other legions renamed the Flame Legion Gold Legion. To humans gold is precious, to the charr gold being a soft metal unfit for making weapons, is useless, so calling the Flame Legion the Gold Legion is a gross insult. I'm not sure what charr racial skills are. Charr society is distrusting of magic and charr have become the most technology advanced of the 5 races. This does not mean a player character cannot be a spell caster there are no racial penalties (or bonuses) connect to profession. Whether choosing to be a spell caster has any special effect on a charr character's personal story line or the way NPC charr respond to them I do not know. The charr's major city is the Iron Citadel.

Asura: an ancient subterranean race forced to the surface by the Destroyers, the asura are small in stature but intellectual giants with a far greater understanding of magic then the other races, or so the asura proclaim, loudly and often. Although not actually evil, the asura do look at the other races primarily as servants or expendable guinea pigs for their experiments. Apparently the first sylvari to encounter the asura had bad experienced which has made the sylvari weary of the asura. The asura's major city is Rata Sum. The asura excel at magic rather than technology. Just as a charr player character can be a spell caster equally effectively as any other race, an asura can be a non-magic user, example a warrior and be just as good as any other race. The asura belief that all life is part of the "Eternal Achemy", even the human's gods. Asura racial skills include "Arcane Blast" a magical burst of energy.

Norn: the norn are half-giant shapes-hifters. Instead of worshiping gods and goddesses the norn reverence nature spirits, primarily the spirits of bear, wolf, raven and snow leopard. Norn are highly individualist they have no governments or armies. Each norn is expect to fight his/her own battles. The norn's primary city is Hoelbrak. Norn racial skills allows them to shape shift.

Charr were villains in Guild Wars: Prophesies, asura and norn were introdced as non-playable characters in Guild Wars: Eye of the North. The fifth playable race in Guild Wars 2 is brand new to the world of Tyria.

Sylvari: centuries ago a centaur named Ventari, weary of the endless wars between his kind and humans left his homeland seeking peace. He met Ronan, a human who's entire family was killed by the Mursaat. Together Ronan and Ventari made their home in The Grove, welcoming all who wanted peace. Years ago Ronan had found a strange seed which he intended to show his family. When he found them massacred he planted the seed by their graves. When Ronan died, Ventari buried him with his family. Ventari carved into stone his philosophy. From Ronan's seed a small tree grew. When Ventari died his tablet was left under that tree. Slowly over centuries the Pale Tree became much larger. Finally, 225 years after the events of Guild Wars: Eye of the North, 25 years before the start of Guild Wars 2 the tree spouted pods. The pods opened, out came the sylvari first born. Although humanoid in appearance the sylvari are actually plants. Although the oldest sylvari is only 25 years old the sylvari posses a surprising knowledge of Tyria. Some of this knowledge may have come from Ventari's Tablet which the sylvari revere as their most important artifact. Despite the sylvari have a reputation for being noble the other races are still a bit leery of the sylvari, not knowing why they have suddenly appeared on Tyria, what their purpose can be. The sylvari themselves have no doubt what their purpose is. "Why am I here" is one question the sylvari do not ask. The sylvari known their destiny is to fight the elder dragon. (some people get upset when I say this but its right from the game developers themselves, "the sylvari are a response to the elder dragons", apparently nature itself rebels against the corrupting influence of the elder dragons and produces its own champion to defend it. Ultimately all playable races are destined to battle the elder dragons after all defeating Zaihtan is the ultimate goal of Guild Wars 2, but the sylvari were created specifically for that purpose.)

Since known one (accept for Anet designers) has ever played a sylvari the sylvari are a mystery spawning much debate. Probably the most popular question is, do sylvari just APPEAR male and female, having no actual gender, or are they like the other races actually male and female, capable of having relationships which produce offspring, or an sylvari only be born to the Pale Tree? Another favorite, if a Sylvari dies and is buried does it produce another Pale Tree, capable of producing more Sylvari?

From the book Ghosts of Ascalon we know that sylvari blood is golden not red.

This is too long, I'll talk about professions in a later post.

I'm surprised that this TV series hasn't been discussed yet. (I'm sure I made a topic about it some time ago, but I can't seem to find it. Search results didn't show any)

Are you guys familiar with this show? It's very funny and has a lot of reference to what we all have in common. Geekdom. I'm currently watching season 3, and I have to say, the character Sheldon Cooper is really funny, especially his hatred for Wil Wheaton. This is one of the shows that really made me Laughed Out Loud.

Not to mention that they have a physics professor to check the validity of the theories they discussed in the show, so the technical terms are quite accurate.

Guild Wars

This is a very long message.

I don't have a game console. On my PC I play Guild Wars. Guild Wars is a competitive online role-playing game (CORPG) rather than a Massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), although ArenaNet (Anet) is working on a sequel, Guild Wars 2, which will be MMORPG. The difference is MMORPG allow players to meet out in the world where as the original Guild Wars only allows players to team up in a town, outpost or guild hall. Once you go into an explorable area or mission the game is instanced, no one not in the group can join in and what your team does only effects the team.

Guild Wars does NOT have a subscription fee. You buy the game and play as much or as little as you like. A dirty little secret: online games are not expensive to keep going, the publishers made a profit just selling the games, those that charge a subscription are gouging you. Anet makes extra money by offering extra character slots, extra in game storage for sale. Things you can buy but don't have to.

The original Guild Wars consists of 3 campaigns and 1 expansion pack. Each of the campaigns can be played without the others. You create new characters in each one. The expansion pack has to linked to an account that has one of the campaigns and you don't create a character for it, you take a character of at least level 10 to it. The first campaign you buy gives you 4 character slots. The next one an extra 2. Third one does not include more slots.

Campaigns:
Guild Wars: Prophecies originally just Guild Wars.
Set in a roughly European setting. It's the longest of the three and slowest to level in. It's my favorite. Features a training ground called Pre-Searing Ascalon or Pre for short. Once you leave Pre you cannot go back. Some people have characters that never leave. Missions feature a seperate bonus which you can complete or not. Completing all missions with bonuses will gain your character the title "Protector of Tyria". The bonuses are different for each mission. The most annoying ones are timed.

Guild Wars: Factions
Oriental/Asian. Shorter than Prophecies and you level up faster. Training area is an island you can return to once you've left it. All Factions missions are timed. There are three levels of reward all based on how fast you complete the mission. The time is different for each mission. To gain "Protector of Cantha" you have to complete all missions in the shortest time.

Guild Wars: Nightfall
African. Introduced heroes, NPCs you unlock doing quests who you can then outfit and set skills for and take along with you when you can't find player characters or just want to play alone. Unlike henchmen, heroes gain levels as they gain experience. After training mission you go right to the main city. Missions in Nightfall also have 3 levels of reward but what you have to do to gain them is different for each mission. Completing all missions at Mastery level gains your character the "Protector of Elona" title.

Expansion:
Guild Wars: Eye of the North or GWEN, which is the name of an NPC you meet at start of Prophecies, until Eye of the North we did not know what happened to her. Each of the three campaigns has the same quest which becomes available to level 10 characters and leads to the Eye of the North. The expansion pack is actually meant for level 20 characters so characters below level 20 are buffed. Eye of the North introduces new races (non-playable), asura and norn. For Factions and Nightfall characters dwarves are also new as there are no dwarves on Cantha or Elona. Eye of the North missions do not have bonuses. Eye of the North introduces dungeons, multi-leveled explorable areas with a boss at the end. Levels range from 2 to 3.

There was originally going to be a fourth campaign, Guild Wars: Utopia, but it was dropped in favor of creating an entirely new game, Guild Wars 2.

Once you complete a campaign on any character then all your level 20 characters can play that campaign in either the normal (default) mode or switch to hard mode. Hard mode of course makes everything harder but it gives more experience. Completing all missions with bonuses gives "Guardian of Tyria", "Guardian of Cantha" and "Guardian of Elona" titles. Gaining all Protector and Guardian titles on the same character will get you an extra title.

Its a little confusing, but Tyria is both the planet on which all of Guild Wars takes place and the continent on which Prophecies and Eye of the North are set. Factions takes place on the continent of Cantha and Nightfall on Elona. Characters from one continent can eventually travel to the others in order to take part in the other campaigns as long as they are all linked to the same account. The only problem is, Night Fall is supposed to be set several years after Prophecies and Factions so you're traveling not only from continent to continent but back and forth through time. Which is just weird. Eye of the North supposedly takes place after all the campaigns. The final Eye of the North video gives a brief hint of whats to come in Guild Wars 2: mighty dragons and a new race.

In Guild Wars there is only one playable race, human. Guild Wars 2 will have human, charr, asura, norn and sylvari. Charr are a feline like race which are the enemies of the Ascalonian humans (your Prophecies player character). Asura are small, highly intelligent and consider the other races as little more than servants or expandable guine pigs in their experiments. Norn are half-giants, very individualistic and have the power to shapeshift until animal forms. Sylvari are brand new to Guild Wars 2. They are plant people, all from the same tree. Dwarf is still not a playable race, their are lore reasons as to why. By the time of Guild Wars 2 the dwarves are nearly extinct.

Prophecies has 6 professions (Guild Wars term for class): warrior, ranger, elementalist, monk, necromancer, mesmer
Factions has the 6 core professions plus assassin and ritualist
Nightfall has the 6 core professions plus dervish and paragon

The new professions can only be created in their campaign but can like any other travel to the other campaigns.

Guild War 2 will have 8 professions, so far we only know of 4: elementalist, warrior, ranger and necromancer
Anet has said that there will be new professions so not all the professions will be returning.

Guild Wars features the ability to eventually gain a secondary profession, so characters can use skills from two professions, Guild Wars 2 expands each professions abilities with most weapons usable by multiple professions so the player characters will not be able to take a secondary profession.

Guild Wars professions:
warrior: this is your armored melee type, warriors can choose from sword and shield, axe and shield or hammer (two handed so no shield). The shield is optional with sword and axe but it gives extra armor so no reason not to have one. warrior's primary attribute is strength, which increases damage by adding armor penetration

ranger: archer with option to have a pet and capable of summoning nature spirits. primary attribute is experience, which reduces energy cost of skills.

elementalist: a spellcaster specializing in magic based on elements of air, earth, fire and water. primary attribute is energy storage. fire spells often hit more than one target for this reason fire ele is often called a nuker. water spells mostly do cold damage, air spells are mostly lightning although there are some based on wind. my first character was elementalist, I mostly play air these days.

necromancer: spellcaster using dark magic to harm enemies and buffer allies. primary attribute is soul reaping which gives necro energy whenever something dies. death magic allows necromancer to summon undead minions from corpses, curses put hexes on enemies, blood magic is often overlooked but it has some very good damage dealing spells.

monk: most people expect monk to be healer but its also possible to specialize in protecting (stopping damage so healing isn't necessary) or smiting (dealing out holy damage which ignores armor). I prefer to smite. primary attribute for monk is divine favor which adds extra healing to all skills used on allies.

mesmer: unique to guild wars this is probably the most difficult profession to play, you need to know in advance what enemies you will be going up against so you can pick your spells to match. mesmers primary attribute is fast casting but do their damage through dominance or illusion magic. mesmers use hexes to punish their enemies for using their own skills. for example "Backfire" inflicts damage on enemy spell caster every time they use a spell, "Empathy" does the same to melee types (I hate empathy being cast on my warrior)

assasin: specializes in skill chaining to take down foes fast, primary attribute is critical hit, primary weapon two daggers. assassin skill chains allow them to hit with right hand dagger, then left, then both. assassins can be dangerous but they don't have best armor so if not played right can also go down fast.

ritualist: spellcasters who gain their powers from being intuned with spirits. primary attribute spirit spawning. most popular ritualist is the spirit spammer, who summons spirits to do the fighting for him. ritualists can also be healers although not usually as effective at it as monks

dervish: mystic warriors who specialize in the scythe. primary attribute is mysticism which gives them energy any time an enchantment wears off or is removed, on anybody near them. with a scythe a dervish can hit three targets with a single swing.

paragon: spear and shield wielding warrior with party buffering shouts, echoes and anthems. paragon's primary attribute is leadership. paragon skills get better the more people in their party so they aren't at their best solo.

In Guild Wars two the returning professions will be extended with more weapons available and every playable character must have a healing skill, there will be no dedicated healer. For example Guild Wars 2 warrior will be able to use a long bow for ranged attacks, while ranger will gain sword for melee.

I'll probably post more about Guild Wars 2 in a separate message.

While I was riding the bus to the mall to meet up with a friend this morning, I was thinking about a sketch from the show "Robot Chicken" involving a bus. I then thought of various disasters that could happen in a city and started to picture certain people becoming Power Rangers. Thing is, all I could decide on were the colors and the first name of one of the Rangers. The Ranger colors are Red, Blue, Green, Yellow & Pink. I can't figure out their motifs or the villains. Is this a good start???
